My house burned down and my daughter lost all of her makeup, I emailed all the brands she had not looking for a handout, but looking to put some love back in her life (she’s makeup obsessed) and E.L.F. is the ONLY company who responded and sent her a care package. I have a huge amount of respect for this company!!!
Elf is always coming for the more expensive brands and really killing it! It actually pisses me off that other brands think we have to spend so much money for their products when we can just buy elf and nine times out of ten elf is so much better!
One big difference is that Elf products are mostly made in China where labor and materials are way cheaper. Brands that make their products in countries with higher labor and manufacturing costs are naturally going to cost more. The Charlotte Tilbury contour wand, which Elf dupes, is made in Italy. What upsets me are the brands that are mostly made in China yet still cost a lot, like Morphe.
Do you know why we like Elf so much? Because it is affordable. You feel like they respect the customer, unlike other beauty brands who are literally robbing us! I’m so glad Robert approves of Elf 😊
"A particular brand"... I love your reviews and honesty, and I know of the brand of which you speak! I hope they have colors to suit those of us with darker skin tones.
It's good, it's basically the same shade as their putty bronzer in the cool shade. The lightest highlight looks too dark for my skin tone. I would check it in person first.
I hear you, fellow pale gal! I haven't worn much makeup this past year (doing a lot of outdoorsy traveling/camping, don't have a need to get glammed up and any free space I have in my beauty bin goes to sunscreen 😂), but when I do want to put myself together, I always find that most contours are too dark and too warm like a bronzer. I'd love to have a small, cheap option that can add just a touch of definition to my eternally pale face. I originally wrote e.l.f. off as a low-end drugstore brand, but their makeup and skincare lines have really come through for me when I need something quick and good without breaking the bank. e.l.f. has really found their niche and it's exciting to see how they've developed over the years.
I have a similar shade one from the putty bronzer range. It's just right for contour ( redhead so u know I'm white as hell 😂) . X..I do want this one though so need to hide from my daughters 😒
I’m super pale and cool undertoned so I’m excited! I use the sheglam contour at the moment (which I’m not thrilled about as I don’t want to support them) and really enjoy the creamy formula. Could never get into the putty bronzers, they collected hairs from my brushes and would kind of ball up in places :( just didn’t work for my skin so it’s always good to have another option!
I’m not exaggerating when I say I have literally been WAITING for your review on this line. I’m totally convinced now; I’ve gotta get my hands on them because elf has never let me down 😍
@RobertWelsh I don't know, they were all reviews from the week they came out. Every one I watched but they worked so well for you, it must be the foundation.
I’m such a fan of Robert. He’s so knowledgeable, evidently personable & relatable, clearly has strong personal standards, and importantly - comes across as chilled & no-dramas whilst still hilarious & cheeky - just class and a half. These vids are so relaxing too! Thanks Robert, love your work!☺️❤️
Elf is incredible, I really appreciate the quality of their products as someone who doesn't have much money to spend on super expensive nice makeup. Also Robert you're so so close to 1 million subscribers!!! 😄💜 I got a couple family members and friends to subscribe to you just by gushing about how much I love your channel hahaha
Aaand into the cart it goes! 😄 That foundation change made a huge difference. Thank you for showing these. Elf is a brand I reach for often and I look forward to any of their new launches. 👻🖤
Thank you for showing us the best way to work with these. Seen so many reviews where the contour just ends up looking muddy around the edges and blush dried down too fast. Enjoy everyone 💜
You kill me, 😂😂😂😂😂love, love , love your sense of humor, I agree with you on everything and both highlighters are lovely, not sure I could pick a favorite
I’m so excited for the contour for fair skin, every other ‘affordable’ contour that I’ve used are soo orange, and I’m tired of spending $40 on contour palettes just for a cool toned contour. Horray for e.l.f. !! 🖤🖤🖤
I work at Shoppeprs (ultra for Canadians) as a Beauty Exoert. I'm also a pro mua. I bought these the DAY they came in. My Fair Light Contour is AMAZING. THE ONLY true grey u have been able to find! And the Blushes are amazing! Better than CT and yes FULL tubes. And cheap!
Thank you for covering this! I am Irish fair, and you're one of the few people I have found who also goes fair. The fact that you give such warm and honest praise for a 'drugstore' brand helps me as I'm always on a budget (•‿•) I appreciate how on the tubes, they clearly label what they intended each product for. I wear glasses, so if I was trying to put this on blind, this would honestly help a bit ( ◜‿◝ )♡
I love that you review affordable makeup options for those of us with a smaller pocketbook! You have a great online personality and I always feel uplifted when I watch you. Also love the vids of you and your brother/s.! Big mom hug to you! ❤
The lightest contour shade is fantastic for my very fair pink undertone skin. And that’s hard to do- even most light shade elf products pull too yellow and orange for me. It also in my experience hasn’t sunk into fine lines or texture.
elf is my go-to eye makeup. I love it. I have the putty primer when I do more than tinted moisturizer. The Holy Hydration line is awesome. When I run out of my #1 products, it’s easy to snag and works really well. Sometimes I’ll just use it when I need a simple day. elf is really bringing the A-game.
Purchased this maybe 2 weeks ago now & have been waiting on your review! I absolutely love them, I got the whole set with 30% off from elf too - highly reccomend everyone to try them out ❤
Love Elf's CC cream and their eyeshadow Mini's ( which I got on your recommendation so thank you for that!) - lovely products and amazing price for the mini's too! .. will definitely give these a go!
I bought my first Sigma brushes, Your brush set!!!! I've wanted to try them for years, I am so excited and i can't wait for them to ship. They were running a 40% off sale so i bought a few things. Im wicked stoked!
I’ve just bought the highlight in Champagne Campaign and I’m definitely going back for more shades and the blush! I don’t use contour.. I don’t know how🤣 but will practice with these I think
I bought them and I absolutely love them. I haven’t been able to get the blush yet since they’ve been sold out but I’m checking all the stores and online because they are so pretty.
I just bought one of the contours. I bought the lightest one, because I'm light skinned, and just wanted something subtle. I think even it is a little too subtle, but for me, I'm still a beginner to makeup, so I like that it's too light because I won't feel like I'm overdone.
I have my elf contour, blush, and highlighter wands on the way! I am very fair skinned so I am happy to have a contour that will work for me. Plus I can use one of the deeper shades for a bronzer 😊thank you for reviewing! Love you and love your content ❤
I love that fair-light contour! It is a nice subtle sculpt for every day on my fair-light, neutral-cool skintone. It's frustrating when you can tell a brand understand what contour is when they release the lightest and darkest shades in cool tones, but everything in the middle is warm and bronze. Like really?! LOL They need to take the warm shades, market them as liquid bronzers and actually produce contour shades to fill the gap. I didn't pick up a blush or highlighter because I honestly do not need more of either product, but they are on my radar when I need to replace something. I agree that a stippling motion is the best way to blend these out. I prefer a brush to a sponge or fingers as well.
Could you maybe do a video on your all time fave contour products? I have such a hard time finding a good actual contour shade that’s cool toned and not overly bronzing and warm.
Could you do a review of Elf/ newer elf products as a whole and also as a company there primers/ face products, skin tone ranges, eye products etc - it’s a brand I don’t know an awful lot about and would love some honest and reliable feedback. They always seem good for money and come highly recommended- also don’t seem to see them using as many dirty sales tatics but would love to hear what you feel is worth buying and if anything is worth avoiding
I really like these. I got mine in the post the other day. The champagne highlighter is nice. I don’t contour often but I bought the fair one. I should have bought the darker one to use as a bronzer.
I got the light Contour shade and I can hardly see it on my skin so I think I'm gonna grab the light medium one. I have olive skin and my shades change pretty drastically once summer comes, so I think the light medium would be good for me
@@HeyHolly14 I think what the other person was pointing out was the fact that the lightest shade in the putty bronzer is that same super cool, grey toned contour shade. So it would really just be a preference on the formula since the color is so similar.
@@justsayin1991 I can somewhat agree with the shade of that light shade bronzer however the pigment in contour sticks are more pigmented for building definition and not a bronzer glow. The shade might still run a little to warm but ever shade is much cooler than the bronzers. A bronzer will not do what a contour will do. The contour has to be cooler darker(grey/blue) to define depth. Bronzers will have a lifting effect and lighter/warm( brown/ orange). The problem in my opinion are companies omitting color shade types. They make the consumer best guess the depth of warm/coolness. Marketing bronzers as contours and misleading their customer base with buying a product they new didn’t fit the mold.
the lightest and darkest shade of the contour wands are suchhhh good cool tone shades. theyre shockingly good. in my opinion, all the middle shades are more so bronzer shades
Elf are affordable, but good quality. They have a wide range of appropriate colours and tones, yet they tend to keep things simple with a few exceptions, and they suit almost everyone! The only thing I really want them to bring out is some bold eye liners, the gel ones break easily and don’t give me bold colours, they are nice for the waterlines but a bit rubbish for precision work on the lids tbh. I would love some pen/liquid ones. I’m probably gonna grab some from sheglam.
I have these and absolutely love them. I bought them the day they came out. I want the peachy blush. And the contour is actually a contour not bronzer I have the fair/light shade ❤❤❤
I love these review videos, I’m so excited to try contouring with that fair contour color! And I’m going to be buying Rare Beauty because of you as well 😄
