You never fail to bring a smile! So sorry about the damage … I know it’s a mess! Texas has some bad hail and tornadoes which have both hit towns I’ve lived. Yahoo for you! Love the easel and I’m looking into that one. We are still remodeling and been very busy taking care of mother last several months (few months away from 90) and was very I’ll with slow recovery. You can paint with every medium and make it look easy …. That’s talent!! Like the book too. Again, I just laughed out loud when I was looking at the floor. My husband believes I’m the only one who can do things like that!! It’s wonderful you just pick us up and laugh 😂 Laughing at this is always a good thing. We don’t take ourselves too seriously now do we??? Blessings and prayers for your healing and upcoming surgery.
I’m sorry to hear about your mother. It is difficult in so many ways, not only the exhausting lack of energy caring physically for someone that we love, but also the suffering they’re going through that we have to watch. Much love to you and your family. And I will say a prayer for her tonight, and for those of you caring for her.
Thanks BIll. I don’t know! Ha! I think it was the package finally arriving!😂 I’m still having health issues, and I’m sleep deprived from being up all night in pain. I’m only getting 4-5 hours of sleep and it is catching up with me. But fake it till you make it right? I. Getting better though I think. A little bit. My knee is all healed.
Your gouache paintings are wonderful! Thanks for the review of the plain air easel. I always love your art studio with it been in the trees like that, amazing. x
So sorry to hear about the deluge of rain. We are getting massive amounts in Massachusetts as well. If it keeps up we may need an ark! Loved the video as always.
This summer sure has been crazy and different in so many states. The heat I keep hearing about I feel almost guilty over because we are having such a cool summer. On;y a few hot days and when I say hot I’m talking upper 80’s not 100+!
❤😊 Hi, Sharon, 💁🏼♀️I was just thinking how beautiful you look, as you always do. 🙋🏽♀️ I’m so glad you got the new easel! I purchased the 2 cup stainless steel oil painting cups to use with water. I can clip on my drawing board or use a magnet. I found it on Temu for less than $2.50 but they are out of stock you might find something as good or better, I didn’t look. Amazon has the same for $11.00. The prices are awesome and the products are really good. That fall was a lot of fun, just like a crazy roller coaster 🎢 ride! I feel like Elvis, I’m all shook up! 🫨😂😉 I hope your camera and other equipment came out ok. I’m praying for you and I know you’re going to get through everything flying high 🦸🏽♀️because you are superwoman ! Love, Fran
Oh Fran you are too sweet! ❤ Thank you. I actually have the two little cups but they’re so small. They’re fine for watercolor but gouache requires more water to rinse. But I finally figured out a way to use a bigger cup. I bought the stick on metal discs and just stuck it to the bottom of my small collapsible squishy silicone cup, I haven’t used it yet though. Just got ‘em today.
I was thinking the small cups would be too small to clean off your brushes. I paint small. Yo🖼️ Your idea sounds perfect. It’s not as easy as you make it look to create a Plein Air travel kit! 🤦🏼♀️But it sure is fun 🥳
Hi can you do a detailed updated demo on water mixable oils. I want to know how to go all the way to impasto I think it’s called with fat over lean. I found your old video and I love the way you teach. Also your voice is calming. I’ll keep checking. Thanks
Thank you I’ve been having some difficulty lately. But I am okay. And I have been very buy\sy as well. I need to get back into the studio. Hopefully soon.
Sharon, your gouache painting are my favorite! Also, can you tell me which tripod you got from Amazon? I'm looking for a new one that's reasonably priced yet sturdy.
Es my old favorite water cup was. One of those real large pill bottles from the pharmacy and I gorilla glued a washer to the bottom that was magnetic. I’m hoping the cup I ordered is otherwise I’m sending it back. I noticed in that little thank you card I held up, the photo he had showed a metal cup as well. Emily Olson told me she got hers on Jerry’s Artarama website but I couldn’t find it. There are tons on Amazon but I don’t want a set of 6 ya know?😂
That new plein-air easel is certainly a neat piece of equipment - that seemingly small idea of putting the tripod mount on the back board (instead of the usual bottom board) is a great way of increasing the stability of any sketchbook that you attach to the easel. It's extra lightness over other similar items has to be a great bonus for those of us who struggle for various reasons to carry heavy loads when out and about. Incidentally I've just seen your Instagram post showing you using the easel outside in your yard in some fairly decent weather - glad the weather cooperated with you. Thanks for the video - all the best, Brian.
It is really nice. My on;y challenge at this point is where to put brushes. But for the most part when I’m sketching I’m using only one brush with a fine tip so I may not need anything to hold brushes. We’ll see
Love the book and new easel. I would love to see more of the paintings in your book. Sorry to hear about the rain damage to your home. We could use that rain here in Texas. Triple digits for most of the summer. A lot of fires sparking in different cities also. Take care. Looking forward to your plein air paintings. Have fun! Miss seeing Tully. 😊
Tully is the star of the show isn’t he?😂 He will return. There’s never a dull moment with him. I’m struggling with a few bad behaviors though. Diesel was so easy. I forgot how hard it can be. I will do some book reviews in the future and will tell you all about them.😊
I’m recovering from a muscle reattachment surgery. It is a long road, and we’ve had a blizzard so I can’t even get out to my studio safely. But I will be back. I hope soon. I begin PT in 2 weeks. I’ve had very limited activity restrictions. Thanks for asking about me.
I don’t care for them but when I first started painting I liked a stiffer brush. These are stiff golden taklon. I use primarily kolinsky sable and they are super soft. Stiffer brushes can offer better control, and beginners tend to like that. But if you start out with a good brush you will progress either way. These brushes don’t hold much water though. I like a juicy brush.
