You do know that if you have an Echo you have access to receiving alerts on your phone if your smoke alarm goes off, right? And, it's free lol. Check your settings!
OMGGGGG I wasn’t aware one of my most fav people on earth had another channel other than the always glorious car content! Thanks for popping up in suggestions for ecobee 😅
That was the best installation video. My ecobee premium is out for delivery and I was concerned about matching holes with my current ecobee 4 and you already showed me I need to prepare for a small change. Thanks
I can't argue that simplicity has its benefits. In this case, the Nest thermostat is only Google product I haven't bought into for my home because I don't have as much control over or view of my home's overall efficiency.
I just put one of these in our bedroom. Is there any way to have it NOT turn on the screen when walking by? There is an option to turn off the screen in sleep mode, but it still comes back on when you walk by. This is super annoying in a bedroom at night.
Always set to Fahrenheit...all of our hvac is american developed/made and calibrated in Fahrenheit weird but adds years to blowers and between service calls....
Great review!! You have convinced me to buy one. I still have a non smart thermostat. Was looking at this or a sensi touch 2. This has a lot more features dont like alexa or siri Im assuming these can be turned off?
I have the older Ecobee Smart thermostat and it has several software issues I just can't stand. 1. The lag. The android app seriously lags what the display shows you by 30 to 60s. 2. When you adjust the temperature with the slider, ecobee then ignores your current comfort setting and uses all the sensors. Why? Does new one address this? 3. Smart Away does not use your away temp and instead adjusts by 2 degrees. Why? Does new one allow you to customize this? 4. If you monitor the data, ecobee has something called DM offset, if I recall the name correctly. It works like this. If you are in cooling mode and your humidity is low, ecobee will raise the effective set point under the premise you may "feel" just as comfortable with a higher set point. The problem is if the humidity starts to climb, as it does in southern US states, the ecobee kicks on again before the temp set point is reached causing short cycling of your equipment. I eventually had to turn off eco+ to stop this from happening. Their software does not filter the DM offset or if they do it's too course and needs to be a user configurable parameter. 5. Loads of forums complaining about ecobee humidity sensor being inaccurate. I did the whole hydrometer salt calibration and I just could not get the ecobee to be all that accurate with it's max correction of -10%. I personally would not be a return customer. Too many problems when you get right down to it. I have two ecobees that both have these issues and know they are not isolated to one bad unit.
Good to know. I was thinking of upgrading from a Ecobee 3 lite which doesn’t offer whole house humidifier Control. Was thinking the ecobee would be better at it then the humidors own control. But I’m not so sure after reading your comment. Curious your thoughts now on the issue or any improvements since posting this review. Thx.
@@12345howarth nope. In fact, a close friend and fellow nerd reached out to me to compare notes. He has same ecobee smart thermostat with many of the same complaints. It amazes me they put out a product with no testing.
@@theripper121 that's good but they need to fix ALL their issues before I would shell out over $100 for their product. I've pretty much given up on Ecobee. They don't listen to their customers and their product is really not that good.
The ecobee uses the average temperature from all the sensors throughout your home to even out the temperature. You can set it to include all sensors in the average or only certain ones. It ain't perfect and it takes a bit of tweaking to get it right.
I wish this was available in the UK. I've had to settle for the Nest thermostat. About to renovate my house and it looks like I have to use 4 Nest Thermostats for all 4 floors of my house. 😑
@@YuriTereshyn doesn't have to be a right or wrong, everyone can get what they want to suit their purpose. My comment was in regards to the thumbnail. You have a picture of a Nest, but don't compare it in your video or mention at all.
