Category 1 Hurricane Baryl left me in Houston, TX without power for 3 days. I had a small generator for the fridge & fans. Finding gas was challenging as most people were gassing up their generators too! I'm finding that a balance of both, gas & electrical, seems to make the most sense in these emergency situations.

I have the Delta 2 Max and a Champion 4500 inverter. Both saved my ass last December here in Maine. We had a storm of the decade here and knocked out power fro almost 3 days. I used the gas inverter to recharge the Ecoflow. i could run a microwave, two pellet stoves, and lighting at the same time without a hitch. These two are the best investment for the home I have made in years.

Just 3 days? I remember after Andrew we were without *water* for a week and electricity for over a month. Surprisingly, I still don't find this $3200 battery so enticing, despite having two young kids... I think they can handle living off fans and ice cubes for a few days. I doubt it'll be more than a week as it was in the good ol' days. Too many spoiled rich ppl in this neighborhood 😂

Same here in Maine but I only had gas. Gas stations were shut down or out of gas.. makes me want this and then Ill take a 400watt interver to my new EV to keep it topped off from the car's 72kw battery. After 4 days I would whip out the gas generator. Gas will go further when you are just topping off and shutting it off every 3 to 4 hours vs running 24/7

Mahalo nui loa Urus Mechanicus!! (Thank you very much). I was just about to buy one of these. I saw they had 110 & 220, I didn’t know it wouldn’t do both at once. My water system (no municipal water- thankfully) requires 220V for the pump, and 110V for the UV filter… so not going to work for me. I’m waiting on permits for a complete solar solution, but that’s probably 14 months out, so I was hoping to use this for an interim solution. I appreciate your reviews!

Challenge accepted....For $2,800 the Genmax GM10500ietc runs on gas, propane, or your home natural gas line. The whole machine can work stably at 8500w running watts and 10500w stating watts on gasoline, 8000w running watts and 9500w stating watts on LPG, 6800w running watts and 8400w stating watts on Natural Gas. Also has a floating natural and a pure sign wave with 120v outlets and both a 30 amp 120/240 outlet and 50 amp 120/240 outlet. And generators still work in the cold, that's what block heaters are for. I was a generator tech while living in Alaska.

I love my DP3, I got a great deal during Amazon prime days. For $2,975 I got the DP3, and a 400w and 160w solar panels and a nice little camper light. Because of our Dum apartment rules they took away our dryer 240v wall plug, but thanks to the DP3 it can run my dryer at high heat for about 60 mins at 4,018 watts. There is only one small thing I don't like about the DP3 is when running the 240v inverter, I can not charge at the same time while running it. I can charge when running the 120v option. I can run two dryer loads if I take a 30-40 min break charging DP3 in between loads. I also like to add I found it much easier to move DP3 and saver by putting on top a Aluminum Folding Platform Truck from harbor fright.

If you guys are looking for emergency and outdoor power the Ecoflow is the best option. But if you are looking for home power, skip the toys and buy the real pro stuff. Pay once, cry once. Also, 4000 watt of solar is the minimum you will need for a whole house.
@martyvanord984
@martyvanord984 Месяц назад
I see how useful one of these self-charging battery inverters would be especially as a ups. No fumes and if it is a short-term event, no need to touch anything. The long-term event would require charging somehow. What many people here do is buy two large propane tanks and a stand-by propane generator that disconnects from the grid when the power dies and turns off and reconnects to the grid when the power comes back. This setup could power a house for weeks and there is no need to do anything at all. The cost is not prohibitive but more than an Ecoflow.

So I just got my power restored after Hurricane Beryl here in the greater Houston TX area.... and the problem was, the day after Beryl blew thru here trashing the grid we had bright sunny skies! Middle of Summer in July Texas sunny skies!!! Homes began to swelter inside almost immediately and it's only gotten worse every day this week (it's actually cloudy today, Friday a full 5 days after Beryl we have our 1st cloudy day since the hurricane). The ability to run some kind of AC and maybe a few fans AND keep fridges and freezers cold is critical after a summertime hurricane trashes the electrical grid. Nearly a million people are still without power today. It's been a really rough week for so many people here.. and Beryl was only a Cat 1 hurricane... I'm hesitant to think what a Cat 3 or stronger storm will do to the grid here now that so many extra people have moved to this area it's straining the infrastructure to the breaking point on a good day! Geez!

Yeah but comparing this to a Predator would be like comparing a Lexus to Hyundai. They will both get you were you are going but it's not the same trim level, warranty or fit and finish. This is great and coupled with Natural Gas, you can get by for a long time without getting the full 48Kwh set up. Get a Gas oven and Natural Gas furnace and a 12 Kwh system could carry you for a good amount of time. I'm for electricity where it makes sense, but to heat a home with it is wasteful, and to cook with it? I prefer gas.

Question, we recently had a power outage because of a hurricane that left us without power for a week. I’m looking for something like this because I live in a apartment. This unit is pretty price at $3600 but if it is worth it. I’m saving up to go ahead with the purchase. The main thing is, I would like to be able to run my Wi-Fi router, a couple of lights, and a small AC unit. The AC unit I wouldn’t run constantly because I would be obviously actively monitoring and trying to save power. My only concern is that whenever there is a hurricane, the sun typically isn’t out, so how would I recharge this unit if it was a cloudy day and I could not use a generator? Also, I’m not too knowledgeable on kilowatt hours and all of that stuff and so I asked ChatGPT on this unit versus the ultra, it said that the ultra would last shorter than this model would. So which one would you get for my situation? I want to ask a human because I’m not going to buy something based on what AI says.
@nickm9102
@nickm9102 Месяц назад
Not an electrician but know just enough to be dangerous. That said, wouldn't it be possible to make your own power tap that pulls the three phase 240 and uses a single phase with the neutral? I know there might be an issue with it running on batteries (DC voltage) but I would expect this to be similar to the 208 voltage in AC panels taking both 120 legs and using them to power larger appliances? you could use the 240 side to power an item and wire up a couple of outlets to run the 120 volt items.

I’d like to know whether it can be recharged from a cheap, NON-inverter generator. If it can, then I’d be set using this until it runs low, and then plugging it into the cheap shop generator that I already have. Otherwise I’ll just go with a dual-fuel gas generator if I have to buy a new inverter generator anyway.

If you can only run either 120V or 240V at one time, then it doesn't meet my personal definition of 120/240 split phase. The whole idea of split phase, is the ability to use either leg (phased 180 degrees apart) of 120V for 120 devices, and to use both legs for 240 devices. At the same time. I think that is more than a nitpick. But in any case, just being able to shut down the rest of the house and run the well pump to recharge the well tank, is better than not being able to. So, I'll give them that. But a rack-mount battery and an all-in-one with true split phase, destroys this by running 120V and 240V devices at the same time, as anything claiming to have split-phase output should. I agree that the model "weighing a buck oh two" wasn't likely to be body-slamming it on top of the luggage in the trunk. At this price, they should provide training wheels to add onto it so that it doesn't get scratched up like a new motorcycle being laid down for the first time.
@Jakexgt1979
@Jakexgt1979 Месяц назад
Wire an intet box to your main panel with an interlock kit and plug that 240v from the Ecoflow to your inlet box. There, now you are powering both legs of your house panel. Just turn on whatever breakers you want to power.

I have a ecoflow I use for occasional power outages, keep in mind ecoflow recommends you store the battery at 60% charge, and charge it up all the way and deplete the battery every 3 months to maintain its conditioning. This is why I keep a gas generator to work with my ecoflow in times of power outages. Gas generators are easier to store for long periods of time compared to battery generators. I see the advantages and disadvantages to both - we'll have to see how tech and/or laws change how we use both in the future.

Did they do good? Let me see they had a Delta pro. Then they had a Delta pro ultra ultra, which is 70% watch. But then they turned around and wouldn't make some small. OK, maybe you shouldn't make that first. Then it wouldn't look better but they didn't, so they went backwards in time now. It makes it much smaller, but it does get 240 V. But that doesn't mean to anything different because you need 5000 W right, and then you get by more than one, you could buy a $3 bill. You can't put me very much to it once it's worth. Oh, it's just costly. I got you. To make it more costly
