After Bobby left the group Ricky became my favorite member!! I love them all, but Ricky was just something special!! His voice, dancing, personality... he was just sexy as hell!
he is not good live not great at all an I saw bbd but Ricky bell miss a show an of all people but Bobby brown pull off a great performance with them an when NE cum through st. Louis in 1996 home again tour your Ralph miss the show and Bobby field in for him and Ricky Bell and Johnny Gill stole the show people got mad at Bobby when it was time for New edition to do if it isn't Love dance moves Bobby stood on the side look and everybody boo Him but when it was time to do his set he did every dance move perfectly and women was mad because they wanted Ralph an was no show Ralph was high not Bobby that time why they don't talk about Ralph drugs or drinking habit for years but always blame Bobby for NE fall out as usual 🤔WoW
"One More Day" originally was supposed to have Ralph singing lead. He had previously recorded most of the background until he got word that his mother was very sick. He ended up leaving the recording session and Ricky took over singing the lead. As much as I like Ralph's voice it would have been just another version of "Sensitivity". Rick's vocals definitely added something unique and different. Man I hope Rick records another solo album soon.
ABSAT01 - i agree. Ricks solo album was slept on and still is slept on. Have ya cake, and come back, and cant stay away were my standouts from that joint. But spanish fly is good too. Im gonna have to yank that out now...
When you're young you enjoy and shake to the beat; but when you're mature, you shake, you feel, you enjoy, reminisce plus understand every word in the music.
Roney Ngala I guess I was wise beyond my years I listened to the words a wished my boyfriend was like Ricky and Ralph. Now he is when listen to these songs I cry because I'm Blessed my baby is all this and more!!!
This song is an absolute masterpiece. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. I remember when I heard this song for the first time and the transition from the classical guitar/soothing talking into the verse “I can’t deny it” literally gave me chills up my spine. Even the beat of the chorus never fails to touch the depths of my soul. ASDFGHJKL “people tell me that true love is blind, but I’m trying to prove that true love is kind” HITS DIFFERENT, is all I have to say. My favourite song from New Edition without a doubt. It deserves more recognition.
when one leads the others are doing background . You never know who is who with these guys. and no matter who leads they sound great. I love these guys' music
Ralph asked producers to give some of the lead vocals to Ricky and Bobby back in the day, but most of them would tell the label that they wanted Ralph on lead or they'd pull the song. Songwriters considered Ralph to have a classic voice for a vocal group and that's what they wanted.
I've listened to this song at least 20 times on repeat. It's my favorite song on this album. ❤🎵 Whoever dislikes this song needs “one more day” to listen to this classic!
My brother bought the single to this song when it first came out! Gosh I miss the 90s it was the best times for music. New edition defined my childhood
That scene in the movie when they were taking photos for the Candy Girl album cover and Bobby said that they all were lead singers...even way back then, he knew the greatness of the group.
What I love most about New Edition (my generation’s Temptations) is that unlike other groups, EVERYONE had integral roles. They all could be interchangeable but there were many of times when Ricky had to be the one to hold it all together. He’s what I consider the “glue” or the anchor of the group which is why when some ppl doubted BBD, him being able to stand out as a lead vocalist is what made them successful. They all bring something individually as well.
I agree! They have always been and still is a class act. Ricky, Bobby and Ralph are good leaders and Mike and Ronnie can rap. They ALL look good and really go all out for their fans when they perform (saw them in July)!!
Rickey has a beautiful silky smooth voice and he’s one ☝️ great guy, no one gives them man the respect he deserves, a he’s a God loving man , brought his life back from destroying himself to being a devoted and love 💕 personality. I love the ones who take charge of their faults and turn to the ONE who is really in charge.
I remember my teacher played late 80's to early and mid 90's music during class in the seventh grade and this song I distinctively remember hearing and asked him "who is this"? all he said was "focus on your work son" lol, shout out to one of my favorite teachers Mr. Carlyle. I finally found the song lol.
Rick said.......yall can abandon the group and the video but Im about to go make this song POP, video and all. Looks like he enjoyed doing his thing on the song and had fun making the video as well.
Just finished watching the movie with my mother & remember her playing the Home Again album all the time when i was a child & i brought up this song as being one of my favorites and she responded "Who told you about that song?! I pointed to the mirror and when she looked to see where i was pointing she laughed. Memories
Totally underrated singer. If what I'm reading is true from some of yall, I'm glad Ricky got a chance to shine on this song. Actually, I'm glad Jam and Lewis (Who wrote and produced the vast majority of this album) really showcased him and Bobby a lot throughout the album more than putting just Johnny and Ralph in the front of everything like it has been in the past. Part of the reason why Home Again is my favorite of all the NE albums.
This NE reunion album was so good, that I'm tempted to say it was their best body of work because it was so solid. I just wish they'd do what Rodney said and "just get along."
I'm 55 years old I woke up this morning and for some reason I just had to LISTEN to this song I LOVE NEW EDITION and their songs, one of my FAVORITE albums is BLUE MOON I have been a big fan of NEW EDITION since the 80's my FAVORITE member is RALPH and when JOHNNY joined the group he was my other FAVORITE. I loved the NEW EDITION story and the BOBBY BROWN one I used to WATCH them over and over but now I can only watch the NEW EDITION part one and it SUCKS it's no FUN anymore. ONE of my DREAMS is to MEET all SIX MEMBERS of NEW EDITION. I'M not getting any YOUNGER . SHOUTS out to NEW EDITION I LOVE YOU ALL HOPE to MEET ALL of YOU one day PEACE and GOD BLESS.
I know they were slowign down when this album came out, but how this osng got hardly no airplay on the radio, just " Hit Me Off"? Still blows my mind? Song was best song on album and one of thier best ever, yet hardly played? Song is great!! Even video was never aired!
It was always between Ralph and Ricky for me. Ralph is cute, but Ricky is sexy as hell. I get in my feels with this song. I forget about it for a few months then I remember how bomb it is and play it on repeat for an hour
Ricky is that dude!! Can sing his butt off but everyone is not meant to lead a group, Ralph had a magic about him that hadn't been seen since MJ was young and obviously the record companies seen that well!!
This is my jam. Alot of young people don't even listen to great music like this. This is a classic From New Edition and they will always be one of the best male groups of all time. Hats off to ya guys.
I don't think I've ever played any song as much as I have played this song in my whole life ever since I first listened to it in 1996. Ive played it maybe more than over 20,000 times. And I cant still get enough of it. Though video isn't what I expected. I expected Ralph T, Johnny G, Bobby B, and others to be in it. But I'll still keep loving the song.
Danced to this on a geology field trip back in Zimbabwe…one of my class mates was called Modesta … and we shortened her to Moday … and imagine one more day one more day one more day … ah memories
