Ego has come for the crown! Claiming 30 m/s and 3500 watts, this is more the fastest most powerful electric chainsaw currently available! I will enjoy putting this through its paces. More videos to follow with Greenworks included!

It's a fairly imposing saw full of electronics, worth seeing for the long term. It is also quite heavy. I'm waiting for the comparison with Greenworks.😀😀😀

The oil pump IS adjustable! It is adjustable by a kind of a membrane button on the control panel. I had previously given an incorrect location of the adjuster.It is operable without releasing your grip on the saw. Three levels of flow.

I’m in the market for a 18-20” cordless chainsaw and you seem to be the RU-vid expert. Great videos. You mentioned Greenworks is about to come out with improved models, any idea when? It seems like Greenworks Pro or Commercial is the leader for cordless chainsaw power and maybe overall quality. I’m only using it for occasional homeowner with some old or downed trees on my property that will become firewood.

I just got my csx5000. IT IS A PIG! I have two EGO 18" saws; and they seem like they weigh about half of what this thing does! For the occasional user; I am almost sure you would much rather have the 18" model. I have renewed respect and appreciation for the speed and power of my 18" saws. Also; the CSX5000 is a battery killer! I only made two cuts in a +20" log. I couldn't quite finish the second cut; and the saw stopped working. I found out that it was because the battery had become too hot! I have never had that problem with my 18" saws! The battery had plenty of charge left; but it was getting too hot. I have a pair of 4" cooling fans that I place on either side of a battery to cool any battery I have so that it's charger will accept it. Just cool it down; reinsert it; and off you go.
@BenDiscoe
@BenDiscoe 5 месяцев назад
Don't wait for the new Greenworks H.O.G. saw (4.3kW) unless you _really_ need that insane power. A smaller saw will be more affordable, cut much longer per battery, and be far easier to lift. The existing Greenworks 82CS34 already replaces a serious gas saw like the Husqvarna 372XP (as long as you have enough 5Ah 82V batteries)

Would be cool to know how long the bar capacity is. Stihl rips you off, selling the capacity you can't use that bolts to the saw, my 14 inch bar is only 12 inches sticking out of my saw. Should be a lawsuit for them. Give back our capacity!
@reusefull

@John-cj3ve
@John-cj3ve 5 месяцев назад
It's probably a nice saw if you have 1500.00 worth of batteries available for it; to change them out when the one you're using overheats. I figure 3 batteries in rotation; so that when the third battery has become too hot; the initial one will have gotten cool enough to put back in service.
@reusefull
@reusefull 5 месяцев назад
I'm going to do some testing and I'll post about it, but my experience with the Greenworks 82CS34 was that the recommended (included) battery was not big enough. I believe they size the battery as small as possible so that the weight is as light as possible. I ordered a 10 ah battery for the Ego and we'll see if the saw performs better and the battery stays cooler. My experience with Greenworks was that both of those things were true with a larger amp hour battery.
@John-cj3ve
@John-cj3ve 5 месяцев назад
@@reusefullvery interesting! I just do this for a hobby. I WILL; as soon as I am financially able to; acquire one of the bigger batteries and see what happens. Hopefully I can see your upcoming video to see if it influences my decision to buy one of those horribly expensive batteries! Your experience appears to be validated by EGO's cautioning about using smaller batteries. 🤔
@reusefull
@reusefull 5 месяцев назад
@John-cj3ve I try to do things to offset cost... I got a battery and charger for $300 on ebay. I'll attempt to sell the charger to get the cost of the battery closer to $200. If it makes an appreciable difference, I'll probably try to get a 12ah battery and test that.
@BenDiscoe
@BenDiscoe 5 месяцев назад
You are not wrong, having multiple batteries is ideal for serious battery saws. In my case I own both a 82CS34 and an CRZ428 riding mower which comes with 6 5Ah 82V batteries, so I have enough batteries to use my chainsaw continuously forever

90 meters per second! That's like, what, 97 feet per second? I think Greenworks saws top out at about 79 feet per second. As for coming with an 8AH battery and 0.325 chain, so does the Greenworks 60V (54V actual) 20-inch 3.2 kW Greenworks. I look forward to your comparisons!

I haven't been around chainsaws since my old BIG Stihl days. You refer to what I called a sprocket; as a drive spur. What is that unusual, (to me), drive spur on our CSX5000s? Where the drive links 'disappear' into a recess? Also; can these drive spurs be interchanged with a more conventional one?
@reusefull

...off topic: I was just using my 'little' 14" 40v Greenworks saw. And of all my saws; (I don't really have that many); this one is the dirtiest! I'm not very diligent about maintenance; I keep the chains sharp, and the oil tank topped up; but I don't clean them...UNLESS; like this 40v Greenworks; the chain looks dry. That's my indicator that the saw needs to be taken apart and cleaned! Anyway; this bar always gets it's oil hole blocked! So apart it comes; and a bar rake dragged through the kerf, and the oil hole blown out. I'm sure you'll agree; all saws have their own 'personality'. I really like what there is to like about it; but it sure gets dirty fast! Naturally; this saw has a full chisel chain!😁
