Nice demonstration video. I recently got the Stream Deck Mini (6 buttons); I teach statistics online and it's been very useful having some the multikey functions defined as single-buttons. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to set it up. I'm very happy with it and it allows for 10 pages of definitions for the 6 keys.
Getting ready to buy one of these at the end of the month. This appears to be an overall production game changer, not just for streaming. It will definitely come in handy for that too tho lol
The fixed angle and attached cable are unfortunate, though I can understand why they chose to keep this model simpler and monolithic. It is at a good angle; pretty much perfect for the intended use cases, but the shallow slope of the larger units (when removed from their stand) is a very nice option to have.
Well the ORiginal is 150. I don’t see it that bad a deal. Most things are that way. Does the same thing. And I am sure would go on sale. It’s a choice one would need to make. Spend 50$ more just to have more buttons. Or not.
I love the original stream deck, and from what I see here this is just a cheaper version with a little added annoyance of having to scroll through more pages, but it’s definitely worth it because it’s half the price of the original, Great review.
Quick question. I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to play pre-determined audio files during my podcast. For example, sound effects! Would I be able to do that with this deck? I want to program things like sound effects, or sample a part of a song I've released and simply press a button on the steam deck and the audio comes in during my podcast etc. I'm hoping this is capable of doing that and it's simple to do and setup? Thanks for the review!
Just ordered the normal stream deck. Saw this one for 100, and was like... why? I would've really considered the smaller one, just cause I like more compact things if it were reasonably priced, like 70. I assume the software and technology is what you're mostly paying for, not really the hardware after all.
Well yeah software probably. And it does everything the big one does. Just less buttons. Would hope that you can have 5 set buttons on first page with a button that allows you to go to another page to get more options. If so then you are also paying for compact. These days seems you pay more for something being compact. I don’t see it to bad a deal. And if it goes on sale even better deal. Let’s say the software is a 50$ software. Then you are paying 50$ for the 6 buttons or 100$ for 15 buttons. Either way, it’s about the same price then. You get an extra 3 buttons but not as bad if you think about it. Either 3 buttons but a bigger deck or a more compact deck.
People are actually complaining about the price of a custom macro mini keyboard that has build in displays and a ready to go application with integrations with every program they'd use? If you cant afford it you couldnt afford any of the programs you'd get any use out of using it with anyways...
Can’t wait to get. So can you set up to have a button on first screen to go to more options as well? Like a second page to have things like shadowplay for recording etc.
The regular stream deck has been on sale for $100 two or three times in the past so I would think the mini would be $80 or less. I think this will make people hesitant to buy the mini waiting for a sale on the original stream deck. On the other hand, Elgato may not lower the price of the original knowing they set their price point of $100 for the mini.
Could you not have a back button and have it go back automatically after say 5 seconds with no button presses? That would hive you a whole extra button in each folder!
FYI, Its now and only today on Amazon Prime for $59 vs the $99 tag. This is super new as I don't know anything about making videos, it seems you can do so much with this cool gadget.
Over half the keys. About the same price considering the original sold for 100 on prime day. What is the idea behind this product? Spend the extra 40 for 9 more keys. Or save a ton and just set up macros.
I kinda like the triangular design a little more, the stand can be quite strange in my experience if I try to move it. Longer cable is very nice, my normal stream deck isn't that bad in terms of cable length, but it should be longer for more ease and versatility. I LOVE the steam deck and I haven't even been using it too long. Im a new streamer that I am trying to get everything set up perfectly and it definitely made me feel more like a professional and make my stream experience feel better. I don't think the pricing is great on either device, but Prime Day allowed me to save a good amount. I'm still playing around with mine and adding more and more to each profile. It's been an amazing experience overall honestly. Now I just gotta figure out how to configure my Blue Yeti microphone more...
I think Elgato has got the design right in the new Stream Deck XL. The cable attaches at the Stream Deck end with a USB-C connector so you can use the USB-A to USB-C cable Elgato supply or use a cable of your choice (longer, shorter, USB-C on both ends etc.). The stand is a single fixed position, attaches with magnets and has a hole to feed the USB cable through. The cable attachment has been designed in a way that allows use with or without the stand. This means you can take your Stream Deck XL with you by lifting it off the stand, detaching the cable and using a spare cable you keep in your laptop bag whilst on the road. I wonder if we will see a mark 2 version of the 15 key Stream Deck using a similar design to the XL. The 6 key probably is best left as it is: removable cable, stand etc. make less sense with the small form factor.
Should one just use the Elgato Phone Stream Deck until the Stream Deck XL is in stock? Methinks I need a detachable cable. I need at least an 8FT cable for my particular set-up.
i hope somebody created this into an app, turning ipad & androidTab screens into multiple special keys similar to that in the video but doing it into the tablet's screen. And also additional controls like dragging-control something and make the, for example, the exposure bar (and similar) on photoshop or premiere to follow, instead of purchasing that elgato keypad.
I am happy with the normal size but a 6 key stream deck I would lack some keys so I don't have to use many folders. But I might see it as a good addition to my set up so I have all my animations on the normal size and the small one for main controle. Such as mic controle, stream on & off, media controle and such things.
Zahid Shabir they bought them out but Corsair has stated that they’re going to let Elgato keep doing things the same as they have. I don’t see what iCUE could bring to the stream deck that Elgatos software doesn’t already do.
sorry for the late reply as I get like 100 notification messages a week mostly from REALLY old comments and found this but what I meant was incorporate it in to iCUE such as having RGB lighting on Corsair products react to the stream deck in one way or another or have some special macro function that works with corsair products (dunno what but whatever they can do)
Really tough question: I record classical music concerts, I have 3 cameras for 3 different angles and a projector that shows live only one camera. I have no money for a professional mobile tv studio. If I get 3 elgato cam link, a notebook and this stream deck mini, will I be able to switch seamlessly between cameras? and maybe add some overlays? are there any noticeable delays? Thank you
It should work, not too sure about latency though because I've never had more than 1 connected at a time...but great question and good thinking to put this to use. If there is no delay being fed into the computer, then there wouldnt be any delay on the devices end
I wonder if you could do a video of the differens of razor huntsman elite vs razor blackwidow chroma becuase im thinking about switching to razor huntsman elite from razor blackwidow chroma. It would mean a lot to me!
i came in here to be informed about how one actually uses one. cus im not buying anything until i know what in the world it does. haha. new to this. i will probably buy the mini one just to see if it works well for what i want it for. im tired of switching screens mid stream in order to change, pause or start music, scenes etc.
Seems like it should have at least 8 buttons considering it isn't a huge leap in price for the 15 key model. With 6 I don't see it as offering a lot of convenience since everything will need to be buried in folders w/ each folder really only containing 5 buttons w/ one functioning as a back button. Now that they're owned by Corsair I wonder if we'll eventually see a version of the K95 w/ a built in Stream Deck replacing the mechanical macro keys
DJ K I imagine the software being 50$. So then 50$ more for this which you pay a little for it being compact, or 100$ more to get the 15 key one. So about the same price. One you get 3 more keys extra while the other compact. By 3 keys I mean for price. 12 keys is double the price so 3 more keys. But that is saying the software is 50$. To me I like compact. And it does the same thing other then you may have to press extra buttons. Which takes no time to do.
