Mam, In eligibility criteria of UGC NET guidelines 2024 It is written like that, " The candidates qualify in the NET, based on a four year undergraduate degree, will not be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor" "The candidates qualify in the NET, baesd on a four year underdegree will be eligible for the award of JRF and for admission to the Ph.D"

According to UGC NET guidelines, "candidate who is doing 4 year graduation, will be eligible for UGC NET, and after qualifying net will be eligible for admission in PhD, Not for post of Assistant Professor." mam I want to become assistant professor, so should I first complete my four year graduation and one year masters then give ugc net to become assistant professor??? and mam please clarify one more question Mam, after doing 4 year graduation, i have to do MA of one year So, my one year is equivalent to 2 year MA jo abhi tak students karte hain ager doing 3 years of graduation. Koi issue toh nhi h future m ki if any student did post graduation of one year will be ineligible for assistant professor or other posts ??
If you qualify net after 4 year degree program and your result falls in category 1 or 2, then you are eligible to be an assistant professor and also do PhD. It’s only in category 3 that you are eligible to take admission in PhD and not qualify for assistant professor jobs. I hope that’s clear. Best wishes
You can appear for ugc net after completing your four year degree program. You can always do 1 year of masters (if you want to). There is no harm in doing so. That will help you to secure your seat. All the best.
Hello Mam, I did my 5 years intergrated Law degree from GGSIPU & currently pursuing LL.M of 1 year from the same… If i apper for the NET & secure marks under the 3rd category… will i not be able to be work as an Assit. Prof. I’m confused about it as my college teachers were NET qualified with a Masters in Law and I was in hope that i can follow the same… So is it matters that a person with 4 year degree appearing for NET and a person with Masters appearing for NET ?
Maam...frankly speaking I still haven't published any journals and articles. M preparing for NET and once I clear it, I would go for PHD. So, should I focus on journal publications from now????

Mam I have one doubt Mam, my major subject is Political science if I am doing 4yr undergraduate degree programme, and in 4th year have to do Research in major subject i.e. Political science Then I will get Political science honours degree with research Mam, I want to do MA in History As I have completed 4yr graduation so I have to 1 yr MA Mam, My Undergraduate degree will be in Political science with research. So mam, can I do MA history after doing research work in political science on undergraduate level
As such there is no mandatory requirement, however having these may increase your chances of selection. Yes, you can do PhD while doing a job. Best wishes.
