The United States is building a new Embassy in Lebanon.
The multi-building compound will be located in the suburb of Awkar, adjacent to the current Embassy, on a 43-acre site. The compound will provide a safe, secure, sustainable, and modern platform that supports U.S. Embassy staff in representing the U.S. Government to Lebanon and in conducting day-to-day diplomacy.

Why is he US building such a huge "embassy" in such a small country? Why would you need 800 people working there?

Shocker, people are upset about the size and grandiosity of this embassy. Maybe they forgot about the 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Beirut? Yeah, you pretty much need to have a fortress in a violent, war torn country like this. No apologies, get over yourselves.

It might be the best building and the best design, however its not homogenous with lebanon's nature nor lebanese architecture, standing next to it, all i can see is a giant alien ship

The USA is building a new embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, which will take up more than twice the space of the White House. The construction is supposed to be brutally environmentally friendly. A community is to be created for whoever. One Lebanese politician quipped that he hopes the embassy will have enough space to accommodate all the people who want to apply for visas. Some neighbors of the large construction site want to know when the construction will be finished, because it has been getting on residents' nerves for five years. The USA is in a debt crisis, but there is enough money for such magnificent buildings.

Nice work indeed but, are all American companies pay the same?, like this BL Harbert constructing USA Embassy here in Namibia pays US$1 per hour for general workers and US$2 per hour for welders..

Long live the USA and the Holy Land of Eternal Lebanon with them... If you allow me though to write a petition here (because I don't really know where to address it). I have a piece of Land facing your Embassy at Awkar that the Lebanese army is using in order to protect the Embassy from any local terrorists or hooligans. We have a contract that they are bound to pay us some $20,000/year for location. It's been more than 5 years that we are not getting anything from them because of the economical crisis. Can you help us? Thank you :)

Yeah, the Americans might be contributing 1% of the countries GDP just in the construction of this project, if that's what you mean. But what it will cost the country subsequently in terms of infiltration and subversion is difficult to estimate. America is building an intelligence hub in its future proxy conflict with Hezbollah and Iran/Syria. Anyway if I was dictator and it was my country I wouldn't allow any country to build that huge of a facility with extra-territorial rights no matter what. Keeping track of these people will be an impossible task for a small country like Lebanon. Even worse if the Russians or Chinese get to build something similar.
