Aston Villa Football Club has been granted planning approval from Birmingham City Council for phase one of the redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park - to create a world-class sporting venue and a thriving community hub. it will increase capacity around 50,000 seat capacity.

Even after the North Stand was constructed, I was always disappointed with it. Went from a 16,000 terrace to a modest 8,000 seated area.

Cannot stand the computerised voice overs,ĺ so many mistakes like stating Villa Liv when it's Villa Live, basically a Wembley style box park. The ground will eventually expand to 60k when they put another tier on the Witton lane stand. Exciting times this, work starts later year! UTV

I'm a Liverpool fan and I think it looks very similar to the New Anfield Rd Stand. Will be pretty special

Would have been spectacular. Would have brought Villa Park from the 1990s into the 21st century. But egotistical fool Chris Heck decided it was a "bad idea" for Aston Villa, one of England's top clubs, to do what smaller clubs have done, and expand their stadia.

Is the current North Stand to be totally demolished and re-built from scratch? I hope so.

Yes. The original idea was to build around the old North Stand, as Liverpool are currently doing with the Anfield Rd end. Unfortunately this wasn’t feasible, so it will be totally demolished before new stand can be built.

of course, it's only the north stand that is being rebuilt and then villa live. Other than that everything else is staying the same

@@j0shh101 The new North Stand is the 1st phase of redevelopment, in the near future the plan is to also rebuild The Doug Ellis Stand and take capacity to over 60,000.

The Holte is a huge stand, I don't see how you can expand it apart from the Witton Lane side so as to meet up in the corner.
