Thanks. Yes it's a nice release. The Saturn is pretty much done. Sand and filling at this point.

Mini Arcas looks OK. I have an original Estes Arcas from the 60s on the shelf. Quite a bit larger but still powered with 18mm motors, Your 1B is looking good also!

Thanks. Yeah this is from back in the back. It may get a re issue oneday. It's a real build. I can see them using all vacuum formed parts and a plastic capsule and tower structure. If they ever re release it.

I can't wait. Sanding and fillng the 1B gaps and lattice structure right now. Then on to primer and paint. Wondering what kind of altitude it will get on 4 C6-5s.

Saturn is coming along nice. I have 1 month to start and finish a MR and 1B for STEM event. Not gonna happen. At least I have rhe RTF Saturn n the SLS for the kids. They are building the Alpha (black n orange with A8-3. About 100 kids. Gonna be a fun launch day

For the Saturn recovery module: I am thinking about putting a short stem on the bottom with a weight so it's balanced for horizontal landing. You need weight in the nose anyway. Of course the weight-on-stem idea could represent a tangling risk. Just thinking.....

That's a good Idea and yes it needs weight up top. I usually do like a swing k not. Which will allow the parachute to be up top. The weight is a good Idea though

The Arcas rocket used to go to 100.000 feet and realese a weather Ballon.

Right. They have its story in Rockets of the World. The Frangible Arcas they called one version. Work horse rocket

Would love to see a video of how you paint this thing and get that red area to be correct and look right. Seems to be the most challenging part, at least for those of us who haven't painted such curved patterns in a long time (like me). Thanks.

Never seen Estes give paint templates before? IDK why they never done that before. I've seen them cheap out and make the shock cord mount incorporated in the fin marking guides. I guess there is no standards in the manuals? Also who the hell folds the manuals anyway, why not uniformly folded by a machine?

@@proob4 yeah, my painting skills are probably back to being 8th grade level at best after all these years, so I can use all the help and pointers I can get. I know there are better masking tapes and such than there were in the 1960s, but I'm not up on all of them or how to best use them for those nice clean lines. I see rockets like this that'd I'd like to get then see the painting required and just say "no" to buying one. Even building up fins from several layers of balsa then trying to sand them uniformly (like one the new Apogee MX-774 Hi-Roc) puts me out. I don't have a belt sander. Maybe I need one. Thanks.

@@rosswarren436 Best masking tape I found so far besides the Tamiya is Frog tape delicate surfaces. Gets real clean sharp lines. A little pricey but worth it imo.

It was at an MDRA Club launch. I lived it Jersey but was a member of that club, and would drive down and fly at the sod farm

Thanks for the review. I wondered if would have a boat tail. I like the die cut paper. It should come out smooth and the fin squaring guide is a nice touch. It looks like a great mini motor kit. How about making a Super Arcas with a gas generator launch tube or a boosted Arcas? I might have to try that. Good luck.

It really is a nice mini release. A super Arcas would be nice. I'm not familiar with gas generator model rocket.
