New Evidence for King David's Kingdom 

I received my first copy of Let the Stones Speak magazine recently and very much enjoyed reading it The articles on the music of the Jews brought up things I had never considered. That music, expression of worship and faith are very much connected to each other. The fact that there is so much about the music and the instruments used in making music in the Bible is something I want to look into now. Thankyou for such interesting reads.

It's mind boggling to think the value of the Gold that went into Solomon's temple was worth about $1.9 billion dollars in todays money - that's hugely wealthy even today - doesn't even include the other palaces, forts, stables, etc that he built.

Wasn’t Jericho a casemate built wall based on the Rehab story in Joshua? Depending on how old that wall was does that effect the Judah archeology? I believe trying to understand our past is vital to our present and future. Thank you for your and these fine archeologists efforts

First off, i am not a proponent of a late chronology for the kingdom if Judea, I think that it is from the period of 1005 to 1000 BCE. But here's the problem i have. 1. Beth Shamesh as a major fortified city. Most people wont get this so let me just lay it out frankly. Utu was the god of Sippur in sumeria, in the time of Sargon II was more widely kniwn as Shamash, the sun god, sort of like the greek Apollo. Taken with the fact that Urushalim as documented by the Egyptians in the Amarna period means city of [canaanite god] dusk. So it does not appear at this time the Yahu[wahu] has is henotheistic god at that time, but still apart of the mesopotamian derived canaanite pantheon. 2. If we think of newly fortified cities as garrison cities for a kingdom, why are there fortified cities pointing in the direction of shechem if Isra'el is part of the original Davidic kingdom? Was the early kingdom ever actually united?

Are there archeological findings about the rests of Jebusalem, the capital of the Jebusites that was allegedly conquested by David before being king ? The tradition refers that Jebusalem was a potent capital before the Israelites came in search of a good place to settle. David is supposed to have conquered Jebusalem using its advanced canalisation system, emerging in a toilette miden in the citty and ,covered with dejection as he was , forced the keeper of the principal door to open it for the Israelites to occupy the city, massacrating all the population and destroying the capital. Can archaeology confirm this pious tradition ?

The temple had a flowing stream So that the temple priests could slaughter and purify the offerings. Has a stream or river ever flowed upwards Unto what they call the temple place. Or the dome of the rock as others say Wouldn't it be more likely that the temple itself would of stood in the city of Dovid Where a stream once fed the city & place

The identification of casemate walls to this period is not new as per Amihai Mazar's book "Archaeology of the Land of the Bible" pages 387-389. It does place Bet-Shemesh IIa to this period instead of Bet-Shemesh IV. It would be interesting to review the larger list of towns Amihai gives in the other areas of Judea and Israel and see what other sites with the differentiation of abutting rooms to the casemate walls have as opposed to those with separations between the walls and rooms.
