i agree also. Miko is very good but like you said Su is on another level. nothing against Miko. Su is just that good and yes i am bias for Su. but i do believe Miko will get better just like Su did over time.
Totally agree, Miko is good, but Su is god tier. But that also comes from 10+ years of giving it her all. I’ve never heard of Su phoning it in. If Miko stays with Metalverve or branches out on her own. She will be even better in 10+ years.
To be fair, Karate was written for Su('s voice). It's quite possible that if we had a sing written for Miko that she's performed for years, Su's version of that song might not sound as good, not necessarily due to difference in skill but just who the song was designed for!
If Karate is your favorite Babymetal song and this is your first live, you really need to watch the live from the 2016 Download festival. The crowd interaction is amazing and will give you chills.
I remember hearing this for the first time as a crappy audio someone recorded at a concert when they introduced a few new songs for their then upcoming album that would be “Metal Resistance”. It immediately grabbed my attention when I heard that opening riff. I mean, Holy Crap! It is to this day one of my favorite songs of theirs, besides Rondo of NIghtmares and Headbanger. It makes me feel nostalgic about a past I have never lived. Such awesomeness and musical beauty packed into one song is so rare and precious, I can’t help but love it 🤘😊

Yes, tickets for big format concerts in Japan are sold via a lottery system. There are two raffles: a smaller one for "The ONE" (the official "fan club") that gives you access to priority standing areas and seats and the general lottery. I attended Legend-MM (both days) last March after applying for The ONE lottery and not winning any of them. Then, I won both nights tickets at the general lottery. This is my experience and I don't know the actual winning ratio (I know of people that lost both days). There is also the possibility to get someone else's extra ticket (you can apply for two tickets). Or even get the tickets on the general sale... but that's very difficult because you need a Japanese SIM card.
Good reaction. Metalverse first appeared with the 'Doki Doki Morning' performances at the BABYMETAL Returns concerts at the end of January 2023. BABYMETAL Begins where this was filmed were the concerts on 1st and 2nd April 2023 where they brought the original BABYMETAL to an end and revealed the newly chosen trio for the "new" BABYMETAL with Momometal as the third member. The big screen during the bridge was showing a collage of past live performances of 'Karate' right from when it was released in 2016 through. There were clips with Su picking Yui up, clips from 2018 when it was Su, Moa and the Muscle Metal dancers, I saw a clip from the Dark Night Carnival which happened just after Yui announced she was leaving. Basically there was a lot of nostalgia as it was effectively an homage to the "old" BABYMETAL and reflective of the ups and downs and hard times they had battled and helped each other through - and here they were at the end, standing, triumphant, renewed and ready to move on to the future. 'Karate' definitely makes my top 40 .... but I have 40 or 50 songs in my top 10. If it is one of your favourite songs but this is the first time you've seen a live performance of 'Karate' you have some real treats to look forward to with all the live performances you can easily find. Start with the live at Download 2016 performance, see how it looks in torrential English rain.
💕 ⚡ 🍑 / 👻 👻 👻 'Karate' isn't my favorite song, even off the Metal Resistance album, which contains tracks like 'YAVA!', 'Syncopation' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. It's a great song though, and there's a good reason it was the featured single. METALVERSE were introduced at the tail end of the avenger era with the 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' performance on the first night of 'BABYMETAL RETURNS - THE OTHER ONE' (January 28th, 2023). Momometal had just been made a full BABYMETAL member at the time METALVERSE performed 'Karate' on stage with BABYMETAL the second night of 'BABYMETAL BEGINS - The Other One' (April 2nd, 2023). She was still an avenger for most of the first show on April 1st, 2023. METALVERSE also performed as a solo act at BABYMETAL's FOX_FEST on May 25th and 26th, 2024, with Asterism as their guest band. They performed their original songs, and a different anime cover each night. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any footage of that performance online.

Thanks for coming back with this suggestion, they are members of this new Metalverse subgroup project, they actually debut at BM Returns at Makuhari Messe in January 2023 with Doki Doki Morning, you can also find that clip at NLMetal or "For The Fox God". Love this live version at PIA Arena MM in April 2023 with all the emotional effect in the middle section showing clips with the original trio and remembering those days when YuiMetal was part of the group. At Makuhari Messe the East Kami Band was the backing band playing, now is turn for the Western Kami and they did a great job. Karate is definitely one of fans favorite and during latest Europe Tour they brought back and play this instead of Monochrome from the same composer and having a magical moment with the crowd during the medley and SuMetal singing beautifully, check it out if you want in your own time. They already debuted on their own at Summer Sonic 2023 in the main stage with a set of three new songs and also with 5 members instead of three, later on they held another show debut with new songs and performing BM cover songs, including this one but a remix version. As you already know they got two official MV already, the first one was "Crazy J" and is kinda interesting. In this live performance the lead singer here is called Miko Todaka, she's 16 and from Hiroshima and got the same SuMetal's roots at ASH (Actor School Hiroshima) and Sakura Gakuin, she's remarkable with the stage presence, dance and singing. I went to see BABYMETAL in NYC and it was really easy! The overseas concerts in Japan are the hardest because they're a lot bigger and have raffles a lot of the time. You also need to be a member of The One club I think to even buy a ticket for Japan concerts which is also expensive. I just went to the one in NYC in 2023 for about $80. You wont get a huge venue like this but I think it's better because you can be much closer!
I'm not a THE ONE member, and I got tickets for both of the LEGEND MM concerts when they opened it up for overseas fans. I was very lucky in the lottery.
I likes both group, I will not comparing between the two of groups ..... Karate is my second favorite song, first song is a Megitsune... Kitsune up ⬆️⬆️⬆️🤘🤘🤘
It's fun to follow the rise of Metalverse since the beginning, for example you notice how Miko's voice changed from this video to the more recent videos (Fox Festival). It's basically the same experience as having followed Babymetal's growth, but now for a new generation
Miko's voice is angelical, sweet and smooth. Su's voice is powerfull, Bright and she's Best for the music of babymetal because Washington written for Su's voice. But Miko's voice is perfect of the music of metalverse
Tickets to Japan shows are hard to get for foreigners but definitely not impossible. There is generally a lottery for tickets. There are people who can help you.
Karate is definitely one of the fan favorites. I like it too, but not my top go to songs. I didn’t like Metalverse at first, until I heard Crazy J and Naked Princess. Those 2 songs were amazing. Miko is definitely an amazing vocalist and performer. Excited to see how she and Metalverse develops. As for tickets, I can only speak to US shows. Those are easy and straightforward. I used the links on Babymetal’s announcement page (via Ticketmaster). Of course, depending on location, they tend to sell out quick. 🤘🦊
I’ve been a metal head since 1979 and I have never loved a band like babymetal! SU has the best voice that I’ve heard in my life! play DUSK TIL DAWN 2019 live and that proves my claim 👍🏼
This show was at the PIA Arena. It is a compilation of both nights, including the second day that Momo is already an official member (with new clothes and microphone).
Currently, the five-member group is known as METALVERSE, but at the time of this video, the group was made up of three members and the name of the group was still unknown, and many BABYMETAL fans were calling the group "CHIBIMETAL" It's an impression. "CHIBI" means small or child in Japanese.

I was at PIA Arena for this performance; it was 1st & 2nd of April 2023. After Doki Doki Morning at Makuhari, we kind of expected that there might be another appearance by Metalverse. At the time, their name hadn't been officially announced and fans were just calling them "Chibi Babymetal". Karate is a pretty popular song for most Babymetal fans and it rates well in fan polls, but I don't see many people name it as their favourite. I wasn't sure quite what to make of Metalverse initially other than that Miko is a great singer with a ton of stage presence. I saw them again at FOX_FEST, and I pretty much felt the same. They've got some good songs and some mid songs (a few of them feel like Babymetal rejects), but the thing that stands out most is how good Miko is. As of now, the lineup for Metalverse is Miko, Sakia, and Kokona; Yume and Miki have both moved on to other things. It remains to be seen if they will add any new girls, as they did say that Metalverse's lineup would be more fluid. I'm still not convinced that they actually have a long term plan for Metalverse; I think they're just seeing if they can capture lightning in a bottle a second time.
If you look carefully this has the Karate performance from both nights. The black uniform for the first night when Momo was announced as the new member at the end of the night, and with the newer uniform of the second night. Metalverse was still not announced and was still referred to as Chibi BM by the fans at this point. I would like to see Metalverse's first album, hopefully soon but Koba and Amuse are being careful with the Metalverse girls just as they did with BM when they were young.
Well it was an idea in the beginning. We know this due to a leak from a presentation of Metalverse, where the audience was asked to turn of their phones after the first few songs, but someone didn't turn of his smartphone he simply no longer delivered video but the audio continued recording. At that time it made sense for both bands. It was in 2023, before they really announced that Momo would be a metal. No one knew if the original would still sell tickets especially of their adult voices in the old songs. The problem is Babymetal doesn't own any of their songs. This was probably Su's real problem on the open market. She didn't own any of her old assetts. Withnother words for many managers it was tempting to oversell her assetts since they didn't know what kind of music worked for her. But she is no naive little girl. While Koba was their Manager he always tried to be truthfull to them. While they knew that he wasn't always right they always were able to trust his words. At that time he was unable to guarantee them that their release could work after their hiatus. So he did whatvevery capable manager did, only buy what you really need. And then they started their biggest tour ever! After their tour it was obvious that Babymetal was back in business. Festivals were fighting for them as headliners. So it was clear that there was no need of a second Babymetal. And Momo got in her Birthday show all the old titles back. Well, tickets are in general not such a big issue in their international tours, simply try to be early and a bit flexible on the venue, while I was unable to get Berlin tickets, I just changed to Hamburg.

This song is not top 5 even in the Metal Resistance album for me ahahah But I'm an oddball. Many people like Karate, so much that it was added sometimes to the setlists of this year tour!! I love Metalverse, but they have been not releasing content at all, and I'm really sad about it! There is fan footage for the Metalverse show they did, where they did an EDM cover of Karate 😄
In the USA it wasn't hard for me to get tickets to their shows. Saw them in Philadelphia Pennsylvania last year. Seeing them in Bethlehem Pennsylvania this year. As soon as they released the info regarding the US tour I went and bought them. Lol. Probably similar in the UK. Big production shows in Japan I'm assuming are way more difficult to acquire.

Nice reaction! Babymetal shows in Japan always have their tickets sold via lotteries. Usually The One members have a lottery first and then a second one for the general public. I got two tickets for the two Legend MM shows, one from The One and one from the public lottery. So it is possible, yet not guaranteed. But the Japan shows are truly another experience, whilst the oversee shows have a more intimate feeling to it. 🤘🦊🔥
