New Favorite Weight Plate? Strength Co vs Rogue Deep Dish (this is TOUGH) 

Who makes the best iron plates? Convince me and I'll review them!

I had the Rogue deep dish plates and sold them to purchase the Strength Co. plates, and do not regret that decision. While the RDD plates are beautifully finished and make a great "clanging" sound on the bar, the mirror finish on the back of the plates does easily scratch. The biggest issue I had with the RDD is the inconsistency on the size of the deep dish lip across the plates. In fact, I found the lip on their 25s to be so non-existent that I actually dropped the plates a few times right out of my hands while a little sweaty. The Strength Company plates maintain a proportional sized lip on each plate and are all easy to safely handle when carrying. They fit a little better on the bar and the back of the plates do not scratch. My nod goes to the Strength Co. plates.

I went Strength Co Plates for my garage gym and don't regret it. While I do prefer the look of the Rogue deep dish, the strength co plates match up well and since I do like to think that I powerlift they better replicate comp standards since they aren't so wide. I've had mine for well over a year and they have also held up incredibly well. Nice review.

I’ve got Strength Co plates. Best plates that I’ve ever owned. Just the right thickness. Fit great on the bar. Little bit of texture on the back vs being milked gives a better grip when loading.

Width and aesthetic consistency are what kept me from going DD. I do however have the Olympic USAs and they share a similar issue with the machined back.

I have the Rogue Deep Dish plates and I love them. BUT I just purchased some 45lb Strength Co Plates because this video highlighted the back of the plates. I hate how the deep dish plates mess up very quickly. So, thanks for the video! And yes, I used the affiliate link!!

My home gym consists of Rogue 45s, 25s,10s, Strength Co 5s, 2.5s, and 1.25s. I like them both the same. There is just no replacing the sound of the deep dish 45s on the bar when you are working out. I'm not strong enough to worry about them taking up space on the barbells:-) thanks for the video!

I have a full set of the strength co plates and I love them. They’re not only gorgeous but extremely durable and the fit and feel are second to none. My only gripe is the shipping. I know you mentioned that now they do plastic bags but I purchased the majority of mine in the beginning of 2021 when they were just starting up and at that time the shipping was just trash. All of the plates showed up out of their boxes and scuffed up as a result. A year or so later I ordered a few more hoping that the shipping was better…well I thought wrong. They all showed up outside of the box with slight damage. I don’t know if these were boxed bomb proof and ups purposely tried to open them or if they were inadequately shipped, but either way I was disappointed. A few applications of durable tape in multiple locations and directions would’ve ensured them to show up in good condition. PS: I get that they’re weight plates but when you pay a premium you expect (and rightfully so) for them to show on a silver platter.

Nice points about the plates in this review. I liked the comparison of finishes over time. Rogue DD is great for Plate Snacks though.

One thing to mention is the sound of the plates. I really love the Rogue DD because they sound like I’m working on a railroad when lifting with that ting noise. Brother went with the StrengthCo too so I didn’t want to copy him otherwise Probably would’ve supported the smaller American company

Great review... i have 2 RDD 45s - but pull from the Boneyard a few months back when they appeared. Always had these guys in mind but like you said, shipping from the left coast was a bit painful... maybe I'll take another look. Nice work as always!

If you like the old three spoke look, the Troy machined wide lip plates (which are not as "deep dish" as the Rogue's) have it.

Both are great looking plates. I see no problem with investing in both and mix and matching.

Thanks for the review. I just ordered a set of The Strength Co plates. I like the look better than any of the Rogue plates and shipping was way cheaper than Rogue, but The Strength Co is much closer to me than Rogue.

They're both gorgeous. Fortunately for me since I can't afford either my choice is already made for me. Cap it is. 😆 Shame not going full nerd with the minutiae! A select minority of us are all for breaking out the calipers and waxing eloquent about the properties of different irons and steels. By all means, please do geek out! I have 6 sets of 45’s and a set of 25’s in Rogue deep dishes. I love them. They definitely scuff though. Deadlifts have not been nice to them!

I just bought a pair of Force USA iron plates just like these in Australia. I got 4x 20kg,4x 10kg,2 5kg & 2 2.5kg plates for $270 AUD and i got a Force USA 6ft olympic Shorty barbell for $139 AUD too.

Had a similar decision when it came to miUSA plates. I ended up getting a pair of boneyard DD 45s so I went with the Rogue line. The DD 25s style don't match, so I feel like best bet is DD 45 and then USA Oly for everything else.

Still holds up! 💪🏼

I've been eyeing the Rogue Oly plates. They just look amazing. I'm too cheap to pull the trigger, though! I know you weren't looking for opinions, but, the comment should help the channel anyway!

I like the old school urethane iron grips for bodybuilding, rogues urethan 6 shooters are closest thing on sale at reasonable price. . Home gyms need 6-45s 4-24- and a few small plates. I can do 315 for bench reps. not getting to 4 plates. Just reality

I was looking forward to the caliper and chamfer talk.... I love a good chamfer lol. As for ductile and grey iron they both friggin suck to machine and leave your hands black as hell and they dont come off..... thats with cutting gears out of them anyways lol

Nice review! Curious to get your take on urethane coated plates vs iron. It’s a different topic but just a thought. Many people don’t like the noise of iron.

The 35's are just a physical representation of the number of innuendos you like to make in your videos. You can place them in the corner all you want, but you know you can't stay away from them for long.

I have a lot of respect for Grant after watching all of his struggles trying to come up with the right plate. He was interviewed by Coop for about 45 minutes to an hour I believe and discussed all of the hardships. Everything from the look of the plate, to the finish, to shipping. If someone could only have one set I would probably go with the strength co plates. The sound of the deep dish 45s remind me of the old YMCA, junior high, and high school weight room. Best thing to do is buy both!

I know that Titan weight plates aren't in the same league as the Rogues and Strength Cos, and I know that you don't give a lot of high praise to Titan, but do you think that Titan's stated weight tolerances are accurate? I am interested in some of their plates, but I am skeptical of their stated tolerances. Thanks.

I got these old random chinese olympic lb set and they have a 25lb deepdish included. Measures 44.68mm vs rogues 34.5mm But Rogues 45s are thicker at 50mm vs mine that are 45.38mm So I mean... technically they could have made 25lb's into deep dishes lol

They are really beautiful, but if weight is weight, why would someone want these instead of Barbell standard?

Used to have a set of Rogue deep dish 45's and 25's but they didnt have change plates at that time...anyways I dont like the look of the 25's and change plates. So I went for a full set of Rogue calibrated...which I like much better just for the colors...but hate to pick them up off the floor! Altought they are not made in USA...but im in Canada anyways 🤣. HUge fan of strength co and honestly thought the deep dish were "EHhh" and not aesthetic. But obviously, everyone's opinion of ascetics/feel is different.

Dumbest thing about strength co. These are made in Wisconsin. I live in Wisconsin. They wouldn't let me buy and pick them up in Wisconsin. They wanted the plates to be shipped to California then shipped back to me in Wisconsin. As such, I chose not to buy them
