Pencils come with erasers. You've been working hard brother. The mind gets tired. Or maybe its Hulkamania running wild all over North Carolina. Can't hide from Hulkamania!! :). Thank you for your great videos Jeff.
Wow...raised my Fu Manchu eyebrows when I heard 5000..I was like....holly macaroni...this thing is not messing around - 3500 is cool enough to tow my mighty BMX..
I was thinking that's quite impressive the tow capacity somehow matches the 4Runner! But it also would be quite hard on the high efficiency transmission!
@@samanthajames9773 it’s fine to me and I want to say it was a little louder with the off-road tires when I first bought it and has quieted down. Either that or I’m just used to it. But I’m averaging 22.5 MPG where I live with lots of hills. Drives nice!
I have a limited just bc I needed a car and it’s what they had but I wanted AWD I don’t think AWD was available on the limited trim mine is a lease hut o assure I love mine everytime I get in it too and same thing can’t believe it’s mine but I’m sure I’ll buy the 2023 the lease is nice because it’s helping my credit so when I go to buy one brand new in 2023 I’ll be able to do so with pretty good interest rate
Hey Jeff - I respectfully have to correct you on what you call a sunglass holder. Perhaps to the untrained eye… I like to keep a road taco in there...👍 keep up the great work
The rav4 trd and adventure can go on big trails with 4Runners Tacoma’s and tundras if you lift up the rav4 3 to 4 inches more of ground clearance and get the aftermarket bfgoodrich ko2 all terrain off road tires and get skip plates and it will be an serious off road capable, this is why I’m going for rav4 besides 4Runner
You know Jeff, I would buy a car from you if i lived out that way. I really like your sense of humor mixed in with honest knowledge of these vehicles. Oh sure you might get a spec or 2 incorrect. No big deal. The filming, sound, and detail is great. Thank you Sir.
For $40K you get a "TRD Offroad" with only 8.6 inches of ground clearance, no recovery points/tow hooks or even eye-hook screw holes, poor approach angle, poor departure angle, no under body protection (until they fixed their oops in 2021 with a front skid plate)....I think I'll pass...
Me too. I left mine off my sequoia because it’s a pain in the butt. I did let a dealership Change the oil once while on vacation in Arizona. Long story short I got home and realized it was missing a bunch of hardware. $75.00 later I had it bolted back up.
Hey Toyotajeff, do you happen to know if this new skid plate can be easily installed on 2020 RAV4 TRD Off Roads? Something I could order and get installed through my local dealership? Thanks!
First thing that came to my mind, if they have Intuitive engineers over there at Toyota it should. Their should be a OEM or at lease a after market one coming soon. We can only hope 🤞🏿
@@Mozeart There's already an aftermarket one in LP Adventure. Bolts right on. And I'd imagine the Toyota one should work on past TRD models and the Adventure, since they are nearly identical other than tires/suspension.
Lorenzo Sorice Sweet I’ll look into, even tho I could see myself waiting for a OEM version. I really enjoy my RAV4 TRD and I’m excited to build it up into some even cooler. Thanks 👍🏿
I have a 2020 Rav4 TRD Offroad (Lunar Rock of course). I hope I can add the skid plate, as this will make my car perfect for me and where I take it (almost everywhere). Thank you for the review!
@@nolan33brown actually Toyota kicked back and won’t built it they told me it’s region locked and we couldn’t get it in full lunar rock apparently it’s west coast only and we’re on the east coast. She can get lunar rock but it will have a two tone roof and she doesn’t want that so now we wait
I love my 2020 RAV4 off-road. But…. I wish I didn’t hear the wind when I am driving. I feel like the blank button on the left side of passenger could’ve been used for something useful for the driver. Toyota could send out a survey of what we’d want if they really cared. I would’ve really appreciated a button that can adjust my seats to my set standard of what I want every-time I sit into my car. What a waste of space… I would love an area to put my purse like the sienna, making use of its entire space. I would’ve liked heated and cooling seats for the back seats as well instead of just the front. I would love to add the skid plate for full protection on mines in the future separately to increase my car value. I love my all-weather mats in the front seats, backs seats and trunk. Such a huge plus when things spill… I also wish there was a car remote start to the car so I can pre start my car before going in and out the house to warm it up. The app remote start didn’t work for me the entire free trial from the beginning resulting in distrust but will try again… I will discontinue if I have the same issue. I often think I could’ve gotten a better deal with a diff automaker but overall I am very very happy with my purchase of 2020 RAV4 TRD off-road for the price and quality so far. It currently matches me but will be expecting more in the fire. It’s gives you the bang for your buck for sure, but also has a lot to improve. Especially with younger adults going off reading and outdoors more often.
"Blind side monitor" and "Detect people". I thought that's what eyes are for. I guess it's all good, more time for the eyes to check the posts on social media while driving.
Great vid Jeff! I test drove this, the ride is good on pavement, but the engine is to buzzy for me. I preferred driving the Limited Hybrid between the two, as much as I like what the TRD offers, the Limited gave a better all around for my needs and taste. I like watching your vids on all the different Toyota models and trim levels, there's a trim level for everyone's taste.
This is just me but I think this would be badass, make a performance oriented one, not off road but you know kinda sporty, Supercharge the 2.5 liter boxer, maybe lower it a tiny bit and stiffen the suspension, some Recaro seats ( Not actual racing seats but blustered ones), No power of heated seats to save weight and add some carbon fiber trim to save weight, with the supercharger you can probably make upwards of 250HP which would be an improvement over the 203, another good addition would be launch control. It would also help out the 7.6 0-60 time ( if we use the LE as a base) and the all wheel drive would be killer for the acceleration. I wanna hear your guys opinions. What do you think? What additions could this use if Toyota would actually make this?
@@sammyjammy6647 a number of reasons. I felt it wasn’t the right vehicle for my lifestyle. Also the value of my truck kept going up I figured might as sell while it’s hot. There’s more reasons but that’s a simplified explanation.
I am understanding that this is not a plug-in that you have shown. In this particular vehicle the electricity is being regenerated in stop and go traffic that one experiences in the city. I live in a rural area and getting out of my neighborhood there are a few stop signs, but mainly I drive on the highway. So I am understanding that this car shown will be using mostly gasoline in my situation. I am trying to determine if the Toyota premium-which I love--would be a bad choice because the vehicle would be using gasoline mainly and then one would wonder why don’t I just get a regular vehicle. So truck drivers would not benefit from a truck with this engineering in mind. Am I correct in this. Please help me with this.
yeah man my xse v6 camry red seats are rumpled and wrinkled in the rear. came that way in factory. nobody even sits in my back seat. not happy they need a recall on it to make their custermers happy. i wont buy another toyota. they aint the same like they use to be
I think these new TRD Rav4 look really nice. I had a really hard time at first deciding weather to go with one of these or the new XSE hybrid. I decided on the XSE hybrid mainly cause the the mpg of up to 41 city. I thought it would be better to wait on the TRD for a year of two at least and see if they make any improvements which I see they did by adding one thing I thought they should of had on there right away when these first came out the skid plate. I know a lot of people think that because it is an off road vehicle it would have a little more power but does not and hope they decided to up the power more. This color lunar rock on the regular rav4 with the chrome rims I don't like very well but when you put this color on the TRD and has the black rims and some other black accenting I think it makes it look way better. If there was some way I could have gotten the TRD and get the same mpg as I get in the XSE hybrid I would for sure would have gone with the TRD instead. I feel now I made the right choice by going with the XSE hybrid instead. I still really like the look of the TRD and everything that is on it but just feel it was better to go with XSE hybrid.
I love Toyotas, but man that's a lot of money for a RAV. 4Runner would be the way to go for the same money or if you want compact, there are alternatives for $10k less.
I want a brand new RAV4 adventure but the 2022 doesn't have the moon rock color. I like the green color for the 2022 but not the interior. I'm also looking at the new Ford bronco with the canvas top. I'm going to compare the RAV4 adventure to that 👍
TRD is the type of trim it is. Not the Model. You can get the TRD package with 4 Runner, Tacoma...etc. I have a 2020 RAV4 TRD and I love it, it’s a midsize SUV.
Why does this have 3500 # towing capacity and the none Adventure and none TRD AWD has the same engine and only 1500 # towing capacity? If a purchased a AWD Limited, why wouldn't it have 3500# towing capacity?
Love your videos! Just curious, does the '21 RAV4 TRD Off-Road have remote start? also is the skid plate the only difference? torn between a 2020 and a 2021, thinking if I buy a 2020 I could just buy the skid plate from the dealer and install, while saving the 2000.00+
Thing should come automatic with mudguards and cross rails. They will nickel and dime you for everything sheesh. Least they got with the program and put that skid plate.
Thanks for posting. Nice looking vehicle. Im not a big fan of taking vehicles off road. Some people look forward to it. All good stuff. Safe driving in any driving conditions. I think Toyota offers that piece on mind. Sticker price ehhh that's where the real worry starts for some. Keep on rockin in the free world. !! :)
Hello. New subscriber here. Like your videos. I love the new RAV4 and glad they are finally adding LED fog lights..and have had taillights and headlights for these new models but they are slow to add LED lights everywhere else. ie.interior map lights, ceiling , cargo and visor lights Front/rear turn signals are too old old design looking. For 30k+ I expect more Even if they would add a full LED Lighting package as an option, I would by it..
I'm sorry but this RAV4 is like $40,000. Save 15000 and buy a Subaru Crosstrek. Or, save 8000 and buy a Toyota Tacoma. These toy SUVs should be $25,000 not pushing 40 k.
I agree but everything that you get makes it worth more than base models of those...a comparably equipped taco costs more (I wanted one and checked at the dealer) and the cross trek is a lot smaller and a comparably equipped one of those would set you back about 32k...(I also checked at the Subaru dealership). These should run in the 35k range I think for what you get...
The forerunner is going to be the more capable off-road vehicle but the RAV4 has much better fuel efficiency. The RAV4 can go off-road as well but the forerunner has better clearance, crawl control, etc etc
So hard to beat a Subaru, I keep searching, I want something mid size but don’t want the wagon look of a Subaru, but the Subaru has everything else, clearance, tech is decent now, engine has more power now, good cornering, does have cvt, but it’s a good cvt and it will last. I’ll give it another 1.5 years, maybe something with more power, more clearance under 42k will come out....
Great video Jeff.....FYI to anyone interested, the stock interior lights are awful. Quick fix though, checkout Bullett Solano’s channel on changing them to LED’s...I did it and BOY does it make a world of difference. 😃✌🏽(same instructions for all RAV models 2019 and up)
