This is a much needed feature. I like the hybrid mix as i like shorts but a feature to turn off shorts is being begged for across the the net and all social platforms
I second that. Separate modes, or better yet a separate app would work best for Shorts. Not to mention YT trying to peddle arcades in the feed without the option to permanently say no. Feels like disrespect, especially Premium payers such as myself.
I hate the new miniplayer. At first it was sooo easy to just swipe the video away. Now it just doesn't want to leave. I have NEVER wanted to put my miniplayer anywhere else on the screen, just bring the old one back PLEASESSESE
I want the "Don't recommend channel" option to always be available, not only on the home page, but also in search result and while watching a video. Also I want to know why a video is being recommended to me so that I can remove what RU-vid thinks I find interesting.

Agreed. The Dislike button should perhaps = Don't recommend channel? (THAT'S basically what I mean when I use the dislike button.) When I come across a stupid deceptive/misleading clickbait video. There are many...some are very persistent, revolving accounts, w false nails/titles etc. Often you cannot opt 4 the "Don't recommend channel" once the vid is playing, and it rarely re-appears if you back page.
it was actually a thing before, if you clicked that you are not interested in a video there was an additional option where you could see the video the suggestion was based on and tell RU-vid to not recommend you anything based on that
About the recommendation part: It is probably just "black box" machine learning, which implies that it won't be possible to tell exactly why a given video was recommended.
The miniplayer is not mini. It takes so much space on the screen. The play/pause/10s buttons on the miniplayer are kinda useless. The new miniplayer is also not suitable for the videos that the sound is more important, like music with a big square album cover. Moreover, the new miniplayer is far less responsive when trying to close it by swiping down. We need an option to change the miniplayer back to the old fashion, or a function to hide the miniplayer on the side of the screen for background playing. I just want the old miniplayer back.
There are tools that shows the thumbs down, ready to use for all browsers. I use the Opera version and so far this vid has 153 thumbs down and 877 thumbs up as of right now at 2336hrs

RU-vid Search is now utterly pointless thanks to the results feed being clogged up by shorts which *have nothing to do with the search term* . YT must know by now that I'm not interested in them, never click on them etc etc... so why waste space when you could be showing me something I *want* to engage with? Shorts are really only aimed at kids anyway so why they're in the grownups feed, I have no idea. Let me turn Shorts off of my feed!!
There's an extension to remove the random stuff from search that you mentioned (alongside many other things like shorts) called "Remove RU-vid Suggestions" As the name says, it can also be used to entierly disable homepage and/or sidebar recommendations (or just remove the infinite scroll)
WTF is UP With that "line"? Premium is basically a "burn" -unless you love Google, and WANT to give them more money. Your money. Otherwise, Prem. is totally unnecessary. Perhaps even unethical. You CAN (via applying certain exts.) get the SAME results FREE. Plus YT (G00GLE) are quite strongly politically Biased, and "strip stats"/DE MONETIZE countless channels on THAT basis, which still, via AD content makes Google $$$ off the stricken channel's views and ADs. That's a FACT. Not a Secret.

Yes, this has been my No.1 complaint from the first day it even appeared. Did not ask for it, do not want it, and can't believe I am constantly required to manually close it every time it appears and obstructs the thumbnails on the page underneath it. Just give us an option to turn it off completely and never see it again!
As a paying customer, I want a response to my complaints and suggestions. I hear NOTHING from YT, when I ask to have the option to hide Shorts, for example. Listen to your users!

They never cared, even when the option "leave a feedback on new design" was available. The really useful changes over past few years can be counted on fingers of a single hand. Everything else just made using this website extremely annoying.
On desktop in webbrowser, the miniplayer works fine (but it isn't new there). On mobile, yeah, inconvenient and gets in the way, and I don't see the point of it. I liked the strip at the bottom with controls when I was listening while browsing for other videos to put in the queue.
The MiniPlayer is such an annoyance on smaller devices. It’d be great if we had the option for the lower banner minimization or MiniPlayer. I mean… Why do companies first giveth and then taketh away? Right?

Agree! I've given up telling Google I've already watched a video. Because it just ignores me, and still shows the same video. I got fed up of wasting my time.
Tbf, I like binging again stuff I watched, or relisten songs over an over, that are being suggested to me. I think the feed has healthy balance of new recommendations and old ones. But that could be just me
I spend more time marking videos "NOT INTERESTED" Than watching actual content! The RU-vid algorithm is absolutely broken! Also I don't want any content that is 10+ years old! I don't care about the view counts! Why do I waste my time even commenting? It's not like anything will be done or even be acknowledged! Greed has ruined RU-vid!
@@rhythmco I think this depends a lot on the content you're watching. If you're watching RU-vid for information, sure, but if you're just looking to entertain yourself, there's no reason to filter out old videos.

Yeah, I've tripped up at times replying to years-old video wo/realizing it - it is annoying. Why my feed offhandedly w/show me years old videos - especially wo/specifically searching for something, is perplexing...
@@SayaGamer3 I have to say I agree with this to a degree as well - a month or two back, a stream of "Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts" came across my feed, and I ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED seeing all those people again from my way younger years! For "entertainment" like that, YES absolutely, but for _Technical_ related videos, I agree - watching software dev videos from 5+ years ago are mostly way outdated.

@@runnergirl When I'm in the app and I minimize the video, it has play/pause and rewind buttons. I think this is the one you have a gripe with. And if I leave for the home screen, the video minimizes without the controls, which will appear only when I tap on it. I have premium on Android.

Not enthusiastic about playlists. After few months a sizable chunk of every playlist is missing because takedowns and deleted videos. Some of my oldest playlist are mostly deleted videos by now.
I hate when my playlists become deleted videos. The problem is you don’t even know what the song was that was deleted. Every so often, I screenshot my playlists so that I can go find my deleted videos and reestablish them on the playlist.
@@BadidaJackson Save playlists periodically as TXT, not screenshots to identify what got lost. Sometimes at least the uploader is still there and just replaced it with a reworked version of that video.
Yes, the censorship, shadow banning, the unsubscribing, removal of likes, and demonetizing of channels based on Google's political biases, while still collecting monies from the ADs. Not only unethical, but possibly criminal as well. They don't give a holy shit about anyone or anything but their own agenda. If they did, they'd STFU and LISTEN to their USERS. Feedback: Add button to exclude a Channel from the search results pannel. There are so many people spamming Ai generated content and someof them have channels that simply flood a particular topic.
Can we get the ability to manually organize our playlists in whatever order we deem fit? Not A-Z or whatever. In whatever order I want. PLEASE!!! Been asking for this for years
You can click and drag videos up and down. But unfortunately there is no way to add descriptions to individual videos (may be because it got abused for spreading hate?).

Why video thumbnails on home page suddenly became huge? I mean HUGE? I used to have like 5 in a row now it's 3 gigantic ones. Why do i get this on big screen?
Let me organize my subscriptions with tags or folders, so I can easily sort through sources I prefer for the kind of content I want to watch at that moment. Let me curate, it's really important.

Really fucking wish you hadn't made these UI changes. I thought maybe it was my already faulty eyes having another symptom when I saw the annoying red-to-pink transition on the progress bar. Also thought something was wrong with the browser with the black number change in the notification circle, from white. It looks awful. Meanwhile what we actually want is the dislike number back so we can see which tutorials are scams or outdated. Would also want a clear message telling me if my comment is visible or not, so I don't waste my time wondering why I'm getting zero engagement with the channel or other users. You know, actual useful things.

As a user, I am quite satisfied with the features RU-vid offers. However, I have a suggestion that could further enhance the user experience. As you know, when we hover the mouse cursor over the video’s timeline, we can see a small preview image. This feature is quite useful in helping viewers quickly find the part of the video they want to jump to. However, I believe it’s possible to improve this experience for videos with subtitles. Here’s my suggestion: For videos that contain subtitles, would it be possible to display the spoken text (subtitles) in a small box while the user hovers over the timeline? This feature would allow viewers to quickly identify which part of the video discusses which topic, especially in longer videos, and easily navigate to the section they need. This would be particularly beneficial for educational videos, interviews, or documentaries. This way, users would not only rely on visual previews but could also scan the content based on the text. It would also be a great convenience for those who prefer reading subtitles or have difficulty understanding the spoken language. I believe that such a feature would enhance access to the information provided in the video, further increasing user engagement with the platform. @@burkino7046 I didn't know about this feature, thank you. But it will still be much easier to look at it by navigating the timeline with the cursor than looking for a sentence in a long text. It will also be more productive to look at the sentences together with the visuals.
This miniature is bad compared to the old one. You can't put it on mid of screen and the buttons behind it of pause and go back or further 5sec are hella big. Please when making a change like this, give the user a option of going back to the old layout through config, not everyone like these unwanted changes, if it's good, why change in the first place? Anyways this is such a quality of life option that you guys should implement.
Get the shorts out of my feed. And stop pushing that. Also playlists are a mess on my PC, they look awful. Unorganized and messy. Why is the button for saving a video to a playlist hidden but the share button is visible? A lot more stuff is off, and you are talking about a recolor and making it fun. Just listen to the community.
I have like five extensions running dozens of settings each to fix all of youtube's horrible decisions. I'm glad you're so excited that the same people who ruined youtube are busy changing it still.
Please let me hide Shorts. If I haven't watched in 1-2 years since they've appeared, I'll probably never do. I like longer form content, on desktop. It's just an inconvenience for me.

I've had to resort to the browser add-on BlockTube so I can block channels and videos for good. The normal algorithm forgets stuff - that doesn't. I now have more than 10k channels blocked with that.
So this is just for phones, not PC? I don't watch on my phone, I do watch on my Kindle, which is terrible, not as bad as watching on a phone, but still really bad. I have always prefered PC, but I wish it worked a lot better on my Kindle, I hate the how different RU-vid works on tablets/phone from PC. I only use my tablet every once in awhile when I can't use my laptop, because of not wanting to carry it all over the place with me, since its big and heavy. Also like others said, bring back thumb down counts, also showing the ACTUAL date a video came out, rather then saying a video came out 6 month ago or a year ago, since with some I have noticed it gets rounded off to the closest time, like saying a year, when it was 10 months ago, its annoying!

There should be a translate button under video transcripts. Annoying is when videos are misrecognized in wrong language making subtitles useless. I also want to set a default "translate to" language for subtitles.
There is still no feature to search for created playlists while watching videos. For example every time I want to add a new music video (a specific genre) to a created playlist I have to scroll to find that specific playlist and save it, I have a lot of playlists for all genres, why not have a search bar so I can find that specific playlist quickly?
Why do I have go digging in the all playlist section for my watch later playlist? I miss the days when it was 1 tap on my profile Why is it so easy to skip to the next video? It seems to be whenever I'm minimizing the video (also miss when it would minimize to the bottom, having it as a PIP blocks too much in app)
IF ONLY they would include a SEARCH BAR at the top when saving a video to your SAVED Video lists!! The "Last Saved First", is helpful at times, and having Watch Later always being at the top is great. BUT having an Alphabetic Sort options, or better, having a simple [Search...] box at the top of the saved listing which focuses on the items based on the letter(s) you type would save (me) at times, MINUTES when having a long list of saves to scroll through. I organize my saves like "Blender - Addons", "Blender - Updates", "Blender - Tutorials" etc., and simply typing "B" would get me in range for where I'm trying to save the video I'm watching, instead of wading though "last saved first" and others, especially when you haven't save a video to a particular list in a good amount of time. Please RU-vid, help us out here! This is using the browser and on mobile.
4th person now - PROPS! Isn't it amazing they dont' / WON'T provide a search box at the top so you don't have to spend MINUTES scrolling down (and back up cause your eyes crossed and missed it!), to find a list you haven't saved a video into for a LONG time - smh...
It would be great if you could group your subscribed channels into categories that you can define yourself. And the shorts are almost unbearable. Please the option to turn them off..
Did you permit multiple soundtracks on a video? NO. Did you ad abilities to change the original video by a new one, for correcting ? NO. All I was expected is not avalable. You did only fancy feature, for not to say "useless". Congratulations.
- When adding to a playlist on the fly allow choosing a playlist by sorting the list of playlists not just by Recent but also alphabetically . - When offline, allow searching amongst all the videos that were previously downloaded
Wow, the sleep timer is the only good feature. I hate shorts. I don't care about adding a customized cover to a playlist. I don't care about colorful icons or channel badges. I want to see the thumbs down button again. I want better video suggestions in my feed so I can discover new creators I might like.
Misleading, this is mostly for creators, very little added value for users, recommendations have devolved into be more annoying than useful, paused my premium, maybe it is time to be less on here. Yeah, I'm thinking it is time to be less on here and have them make less money...

And quit resetting my feed after I choose "Don't recommend channel" on stuff I'm not interested in, Thumbs down count returning would be great, How about a "Your video is horrible & you should stop posting them" button? But none of the stuff we actually ask for will happen because YT don't give a crap about the creators or users....they just wanna flood us with crap no one actually cares about...
