The new Floral Still Life Acrylic Painting Course is now available!
I’ve developed this course to show you how you can transfer the feeling of simplicity and light into a studio floral still life by the arrangement of colours, composition and tonal value range.
Taking classical painting techniques to build up an in-direct painting in acrylics you’ll create a more contemporary still life painting that allows you to use a light modern palette and still see good three-dimensional form.

I mentioned the other day what a good teacher you are but forgot to add that you can actually paint well too. Really well, and it's a pleasure to watch. Never got that at art school, though as I was discussing with an artist a littler older than me, the foundation course was where our drawing improved greatly. Thank you for sharing some of the secrets 😉 All the best.

Hi Will. Can I use oil painting for the techniques you teach?

Hi Lu, yes you can, many of the techniques i teach stem from classical oil painting. There will be some areas that will be quicker with the acrylics (like the coloured ground and the glazing) but you could paint the rest of the lesson with oils. Hope this helps, Cheers, Will

do you thin down colours at all after the initial washes or whatever?

Yes, the colours are tweaked inconsistency throughout the painting. Cheers, Will
