I want to mention a detail I flubbed in this video. Chads tan 2.0 in this video is the same length as the 9L I have that's a gen 1. So dummy me thinks the black 2.0 is a compact when it's actually the standard full size gun. Minor detail but I thought I would mention it. We've been filming like mad men so sometimes it's hard to get every little detail right 100 percent of the time...😇 We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. More coffee! More Sweet rolls! More feee-wing!

Iraqveteran8888 I'm really digging these videos in lieu of SHOT show live coverage. You can never hear what anyone is saying with all the noise in the big hall, or the similar hassles of recording on a live range.

50 years a 1911 man, owning 7, I finally broke down this last summer(July 2018) and purchased my first Tupperware gun, the full-size FDE w/manual safety Chad was shooting. I am impressed with its smoothness and accuracy. The trigger will take me some getting used to, the long stroke hints of a double-action revolver though so much lighter in pull. Sweet as it is, like a new girl, I'll take her home, hold her, fire a few rounds in her, sleep with her by my side, but my heart still belongs to the 1911. ;-D

mikeoakes747 love it to! your half way to a full grip anyway. better imo, then having to use the slide stop/release in a stressful situation or take your hand back off the gun to rack & chamber a round, when your hand was already in motion to re-grip and present. seconds saves lives.

Eric, Thanks for showing the M&P 2.0. I just had to run out and get a 3rd M&P Pro as I compete with the Pro, I want the slide to close on a fresh mag. I can't see why anyone would want the slide to stay locked back on a mag change, if you are in a defensive situation the faster you get the gun back into the fight the better.

Excellent video. My M&P full-size 9mm was the first firearm I ever bought and I still love it. Never failed (except when my GF limp-wristed it and it didn't eject properly, but that isn't the gun's fault). It's a fantastic firearm. I prefer it over the Glock personally. The Shield is my carry now just because I liked the full-sized so much.

Started shooting pistols with .22lr and a SD40, shot mostly those for a few years and bought one of these next. I can believe how nice this is to shoot and how awesome the transition has been, I've overlooked 9mm for too long but am ultimately glad I started with .40 first. Once I put a couple months of training with the M&P 9 I might have to grab one in 10mm, the idea of a of a heavier caliber in the M&P package is very appealing.

@silentbob267
@silentbob267 7 лет назад
I've heard many say that if you are not inserting a full magazine it can fail to chamber a round. I believe this is more of a problem for competition shooters and people practicing with less than full magazines though. In a combat situation odds are if you are inserting a magazine in a hurry it will be a full one and even if it wasn't a tap/rack/bang would have you back in business.

I like that I can slam the Mag in when reloading and the slide will come forward and seat the first round. I have never had a jam or failure to feed from this. This is basically rewarding the shooter for slamming the Mag in hard, which is a necessity. Seen many mags just fall out when shooters are "running and gunning" obv not a good thing.

I bought the 5inch version. First time out the brass was hitting me in the face. Took it to the dealer he polished the chamber and feed ramp. Guess a bur or something was slowing extraction speed down. Now it make a nice pile of 115gr brass at 4 o'clock about 5 feet away. 124gr about foot farther. Anyways the weak ones should improve with break in.

those cut outs on the frame are dumb....really dumb...M&P fans have been asking for a better trigger for years. This gun was suppose to correct that unfortunately it looks like S&W ignored that again. We shouldn't have to spend another 100 plus on an aftermarket trigger just to make the trigger decent...

SPECTRE 21 I picked one up today took it the range. mind you I have the shield, performance center, and original m&p all in 9mm my 2.0s trigger is about the same quality as a glock however a little less than my apex on my performance. Some people have told me some are worse than others... I wish there was a way of knowing and could trust everyone on the internet.

You've gotten very technical on your reviews and left out the basics like calibers, sight options, etc. ? Unless your show is tailored to firearm pros, I think your leaving a segment of the public out.

TJ Panbiker I probably have around 2000-3000 rounds under my belt of shooting various calibers, so I am far from a firearm "pro" nor am I an outright beginner. I didn't see or hear anything that needed explaining. it's a highlight and intro of a gun, not a video on what things like detent mean

Iraqveteran8888 I thought it was normal, to have the slide drop in a round if you smack that next mag into the weapon. glock does that doesn't it? I like that it does that. at least to me it takes another step outta the reload. what do you think?

AlphaOmega: Apparently SIG, Walther, H&K, and even Canik did not get the memo that says striker fire triggers have to suck. You also do not need to spend $2k on a 1911 in order to get a good trigger so lets just leave the over exaggeration to the left wing media. What makes the M&P's trigger suck is that garbage two piece hinge design. Just by changing out the trigger itself without the internals to a one piece flat face design would be a huge improvement.

The M&P2.0 is outstanding. I just never could get the older model the way I wanted it. With the new grip texture, deleted beaver tail and improved trigger, I prefer the M&P over the Glock for sure now. The one thing I still would change is the sights. I can't stand stock M&P sights. The best stock sights I have seen are on the FNS. I love a bigger front dot. The Trijicon HDs look nice. May have to give them a go. In my limited M&P experience, I can say the trigger on my M2.0 is much better than the M&P40 I used to have. I got the FDE 5 inch version, but have not fired it yet. Can't wait to!

Myself personally am an m&p guy. And can tell u are also from the way u touched on all the changes. Like u said, if u are an m&p guy this pistol is for you. I can actually say the trigger pull is lighter. Which is the only change from the previous "newer" original m&ps. I put in an apex USB for the signature m&p grit and the slight over travel. The trigger is very good and smooth now. The negative in my opinion is the new slide stop design...not sure what it is but my slide has failed to lock back on the last round a few times. I've owned 9 m&ps, and currently own 4 as they are my favorite polymer pistols and have never had an issue with the slide not locking back after thousands of rounds I put through previous m&ps...I'm pretty sure it has to do with the new slide stop design.
@paulh6101
@paulh6101 7 лет назад
well, I found the issue with the slide stop design comparing with my original 4.25". There are two things, first is the fact that the slide stop is not under spring tension anymore, it moves up and down manually. Secondly is that u can actually push the slide stop inwards a millimeter or two as with the original u cannot push it in at all and the fact it's not under spring tension anymore u can hold the slide catch down with a high tight grip preventing the slide stop to catch the slide. I'm dissapointed...

Nice video. I like the improvements S&W did to the pistol. However I notice the beavertail has been deleted. Somehow it doesn't look quite like an M&P anymore. That's ok, I'm still happy with my 1.0 version. 1400+ rounds and no malfunctions. That's a good pistol design!

I really appreciate your honesty regarding the sw trigger and CZ grip. So many channels only give glowing reviews. I hope smith releases a model with old style slide stop. I really like the auto forward when using it in competition. I just checked and my VP9 will auto forward on a new mag as well :-)

I love M&Ps, and these new ones look awesome, but I'm happy with my first gens. I like that I can seat a mag quickly so that the slide releases. And I like that the forward serrations on the .45s go all the way up the slide. The triggers aren't amazing, but I'm fine with them.

I bought a M&P 9 a few months ago. I would like the better grip texture, but a set of talon grips will take care of that. Other than that, if the trigger isn't much better, I guess I really didn't miss out on much. I bought a Apex DCAEK with the gun and installed it before I ever shot that particular gun (just the internals, I actually prefer the hinged trigger shoe to the glock style blade) and it sounds like I would still want to do that with a 2.0. Anyway, I got the old one pretty cheap.

I have an M&P full size 40 and haven't had any problems with it. The only bad thing is that I haven't had it that long, maybe a little over a year and of course my luck they come out with a new gen. Not a huge deal, just my luck I guess. I put night sites and did a couple things to the trigger. Replaced the trigger itself with an Apex polymer trigger since I was used to my Glock trigger so I didn't care much for the horizontal hinge. I also put an Apex sear in it and made the trigger feel better and the reset is much better. So since I've done stuff too it I'd rather just keep it than sell it just to buy a 2.0.

My next pistol will be an M&P 9mm 2.0. It is the only gun I have ever held that felt as natural in my hand as my CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. The grip texturing is fantastic and they are quite reliable. Can't be beat here in Canada for $590 in my opinion.
