Matt built his first new gaming pc but no display on monitor appeared when he turned it on. After some basic troubleshooting he contacted Ash from HealMyTech and it turned out to be a huge beginner's mistake overlook, and a few other first time pc building mistakes. In this video we share necessary troubleshooting steps and advice on first time pc building traps to avoid.

@@hydn79 I ended up not watching the video. But in my case, the problem was that the motherboard's BIOS version was not compatible with my CPU, so the solution was updating it to the latest version.

thanks for this, it really helped me help a friend out. He was building 2 identical machines for his nephews and was getting no display. like you i went through all the basics and usual stuff with no result. then i watched your video and asked for the spec sheets and found the cpu to be incompatible with the board. BUT the most annoying part? They bought the board, cpu and ram as a bundle from an amazon seller pre-assembled and supposedly tested!!! buyer beware!!!

I have looked at over 20 videos, and this was it! I had a Zen 3 and didnt update my Bios, had to connect it to my friends Zen 2 to update BIOS and VOila! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH, THIS WAS MY MISTAKE! SIMPLE BUT COULD OF SAVED SEVERAL HOURS. GREAT VIDEO MAN! BLESSINGS!

I just bought a brand new pre-built PC with a Asus 3080/Asus Mobo/i-9 and couldn't get display to read. I know that the parts are compatible but you inspired me to consider it was a BIOS issue. I popped the CMOS battery for a minute, put all the cables back and VOILA!!! Saved me thanks for your insight!

Hello, if you build a new pc for first time and if you use ryzen cpu this is for you. A Ryzen processor without the suffix 'G' (in model number) needs a Graphics card (GPU) and you can't output it to screen without one. So for a normal user you'll definitely need a Graphics card not only for BIOS update but for using it too. Ryzen processors* (as mentioned above)comes without integrated graphics card which is needed to display to the monitor.

So I have the same issue.. no display, hence I can't get in to the BIOS setup. I've checked the compatibility and the MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Mobo is compatible with the AMD Ryzen 3 3100. Any thoughts?

So I resolved my issue. In my case, the fix was ensuring all wiring was plugged in. The GPU had a separate, second module that didn’t dock in to the MOBO but took up a card slot for additional inputs. At first, I did not connect this and once I did.. voila

This happened to me after cleaning my Pc. All I did was use a air can to clear away dust. When plugged everything back, the PC would turn on, fans spinning, rgb on but would not display anything on my monitor. I tired on another one and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for this video! I consider (considered) myself an expert in the field yet I made this exact same amatuer mistake with the CPU incompatability. Very humbling experience. Had two identical model number motherboards just from different brands. CPU produced a display in one but not the other. More than likely one had a more updated BIOS version just like you said.

My brother bought an MSI X570-A PRO and Ryzen 5 2600X. No display output on his rig either. Albeit the motherboard bios update is mandatory for series 3000 cpus, the non posting/displaying issue can be still present. First time i tried to boot my brother's pc, the tv it was attached to (via hdmi), was displaying a still image (probably the last frame in the video buffer) with artifacts. I'd advice to let the pc run a little longer on the first post and try different video ports AND screens (I solved switching to an old IBM VGA lcd display fo initial configuration).

Hi, Im a first time builder and I have the same exact problem with my monitor not turning on. The difference is that my parts ARE compatible and I still have the same issue with the monitor not turning on. The keyboard and mouse and everything else turns on. I even took out the gpu to see if that was the issue and I still have the same problem. The gpu was also in the correct place, closest to the cpu. I made sure the ram was in the right place and still no luck. I checked the battery within the motherboard and no power to the monitor either. I removed the SSD to see if that was causing a problem, and nothing changed. I've been trying to build this dang thing for 12 hours now through trial and error and I don't know what it could be. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks. Paper clip testing: I first had no fans spinning and PSU fan came on for a few secs and stopped. No power LED on MB either. One by one I disconnected things 'til I sighed and took the MB out of the case & set it on its box. I peeked at the CPU itself & figured out I'd aligned its triangle with an embossed triangle on the slot, but that was 90 degrees off. The triangle should have aligned with a white dot on the MB. I fixed that, connected the PS, CPU fan, GPU and a HDD and powered up, using a screwdriver to short the power pins on the MB. VOILA! the fans all started & kept running even though the PSU fan stopped. Turns out it has a "zero fan mode" at low temps. Still wouldn't POST, though. Did another day's research and found that the MoBo wouldn't support that series of AMD Ryzen CPU! Hah! I also found that the Corsair Vengeance RAM has a special series for the Ryzen chips. If you use the regular series, as I had, they'd work but not at full speed! Hah #2! So I got an RMA from Amazon and back the CPU and RAM have gone. Soon as I see the credit, I'll buy the proper ones for the MoBo. Another week and we'll then see if that's all that was "unsupported." :D

Ok, so I built a new computer for my wife. My first build in YEARS so I'm further out of the game than I thought I was and am having issues. I initially was able to get this to post connected directly to the graphics card. I fiddled around in there with some things that I rightly should not have as I didn't know anything about and exited. I am now unable to get anything to post at all via the graphics card nor the motherboard directly. Any help at all? I have a B450 M PRO R2.0 with a ryzen 5 1500X and two sticks of DDR4 2666. And I put in a GTX 1650. But when I try to boot it up, Everything powers up, but no screen. It gives me 5 beeps. I put a speaker on the mother board still 5 beeps. I have a radiator for pc cooling my graphics card. What am I doing wrong? 🤔

@@decagram4963 Hey dude, found out it’s because my dad got a motherboard that is not compatible with my processor. Go to pc parts picker and select your motherboard then see if your cpu and everything else is compatible.

@@slinxz well i found out that my cpu doesn’t have integrated gpu lol so i gotta wait for my gpu to come… but i talked to a friend who built his pc and he said he had the same problem and the problem was that his psu wasn’t properly connected to mobo. The 24pin cable wasn’t properly inserted all the way. So tried that. Check the cpu cable too

I’m still having trouble after 6-7 hours of work into this pc no display, I just changed the cases as it’s a prebuilt and everything was working fine before I switched cases. Also it was making a beeping sound at the start when I first plugged it in and double checked the wires and turned it on and it didn’t make a beeping sound anymore

I finished my build with a friend, whom is a professional at this stuff, but can't get monitor to display, here are my specs: Ryzen 5 5600x (Yes I know I need a BIOS update. But can't display the monitor so I cannot update it). ^ (Would the BIOS menu display maybe if I pressed the bios menu button?) ASUS TUF Gaming X570-PLUS [Wifi] HyperX RAM 2x8GB Castle 360ex AIO. ASROCK 5700XT Taichi GPU Corsair 850W PSU. 6 Case Fans, Lian Li Borra. Mobo lights up yellow for the RAM. But I am sure it's the motherboard. But my mobo doesn't have a BIOS USB slot. And I am supposed to be able to use any of the USB slots on the Mobo. But unsure of how to update the BIOS if I can't see what I'm doing. We're going to try putting my RAM in his PC later on tonight when he gets off work.

@@sudhhhrhsk4756 I looked something up. We had to put his CPU in and update the BIOS. He didn't believe me when I told him we had to do that. But we did it that way. Put my cpu back in and it worked.

After hours of buildup of pc therr was no display And then this man came just change Ram wallah. Worked for me. I used to do this in 2004 when i used to play on my computer But after that laptops changed us. And after almost 16 years the solution was the same just fix the RAM 😜😜😜😜😜

Most thorough and generally noob friendly video. A viewer would still need half decent tech knowledge, but the way you analyse and break down the issues is absolutely the only way if you want people to actually gain something from your content ❤️

I had the same problem everyone in these comment had but how I got it to show a display was I did nothing and it work. When I first build my pc 2 years ago it took FOREVER to start and I had everything right but then I left it on and ended up falling asleep on my desk the next morning I just turn it off then back on and it worked like normal. Years later I fully cleaned my pc. Removed all my parts, plug it back it and it was not showing display again so I just left it on all night woke up and it work. Idk why it like this but it the ONLY thing on RU-vid I have not seen that work for me.

Probably need to remove CMOS battery and put it back in (turn the computer off first then remove the battery, then put it back in)

I have an X570 Arous Elite and have the ram in slots B1 and B2. My old motherboard I had them in slots 3 and 4. I wanted to put them just a bit farther away to prevent difficulty installing the fan, Never had an issue before, but I guess I could try to move them and see how it goes. My GPU is in the right spot, so that's good. I have an X570 Aorus Elite and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x cpu. Pcpartpicker says I may need a bios update or a different cpu supported by older bios revisions. Sigh...should never have upgraded. Thanks logicalincrements. I guess back to newegg you go. Pcpartpicker says an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 has no issues, so I guess I'll go with that?

bismillah, ya akhi If the GPU isn't plugged into the PCIE, but only plugs in the 6Power pin, the GPU fan doesn't spin. is that normal ? I did that to find out whether my psu was running normally or not. please help, akhi

nothing works - computer was working fine, I plug in my phone to charge computer makes a click noise as if I turned it off - may have leaned on the power button - now no signal. If I change input on the screen it says it detects a connection thru dp port ( which is what my PC is plugged into ) I seitch to that and still no signal apparently. I have re-seated the ram multiple times and the gpu - no noises aside from fans, no error codes or red lights on motherboard everything should work fine but still no signal, please help!

So my computer booted up fine and ran no problems, I download windows 10 and now I have to redownload it and pretty much reset the pc to get it to turn on otherwise it’s just a black screen and all I can see is the mouse move

I'm having trouble getting my monitor to get a signal from my tower. I double checked EVERY plug, tried both HDMI and DP in both the motherboard and GPU, checked to make sure my ram and GPU are installed correctly. I even went as far as to pull the actual CPU out and I did find bent pins but I bent them back and realigned them, reinstalled. Everything runs but the debug CPU light is still on and I still have no signal to my monitor. I tried M-Flash BIOS for the motherboard in case it wasn't compatible with the CPU so that it should now be updated to support my CPU. I've seen dozens of videos and months of research into compatibility between every part and the unit as a whole and while I'm not super experienced, I'm pretty sure there should be no issue. Everything fits in the case right too, nothing bent or out of place even a little.

Test the graphics card. You have eliminated the cpu/mobo/ram and the problem already.

I got one display working the one with hdmi plugged into GPU but the other display hdmi cable is plugged into my mobo and it isn’t working. i feel it’s a driver issue but i’ve been troubleshooting and i can’t see that being an issue. Some people say if you have two monitors they both have to be plugged into either gpu or mobo but my old pc worked just fine like that. For you i’d try driver updates

I recently bought a new cpu for my PC and when I swapped them I didn't get a signal and forgot to do a bios update, and when I swapped back to my old cpu, it wouldn't post either so now I dont know what to do cause I already did the reset cmos with the battery method and the two pin method and yet nothing on my screen, I even took out all my ram sticks except for one and yet nothing

I’m a noob when it comes to computer building. Do you know if intel core i5 10400 should work on the Z590 Tomahawk motherboard? I’m building a computer and I’m not being able to get any display (no post, I guess is the technical term) , I figured it’s due to the cpu not being compatible and think it’s best to get an AMD cpu from Ryzen. Would this be correct and fix my problem?

I don't know if I have a similar issue or not. I'm using and i7-12700k cpu on an ASUS H610 motherboard and don't see any indicators online if I need to run a BIOS update. Might go to a computer repair center as I'm concerned if one of my CPU pins is crooked

I am putting a pc together and I have a problem that I find strange that you might not and can help me with. I am testing everything outside of the pc before I put it together. When I jump my power supply the fan turns. When I plug the power supply into the motherboard the fan doesn't turn. To me this indicates the board isn't telling the power supply to turn on and it isn't getting power. I am not thrilled with the idea of spending 200.00 for a new mother board, besides they are almost impossible to buy right now. If you have any ideas, I would appreciate them.

Hello! I just finished a new build but unfortunately it won't startup. I am one of those first-time PC builder guys! I have a good bit of experience swapping parts, upgrading, and writing software but I had never built a PC from scratch. I was hoping you could help me, or at least point me in the right direction for some additional troubleshooting tips. Everything appears to start up normally; the LED lighting, case fans, GPU fans, etc. but no activity from the keyboard or monitor. The caps-lock and num-lock on the keyboard to not work. And I have tried the keyboard on different USB 3 and USB 1.0 ports with no luck but it works on other computers, same with the monitor. Problem is I have no idea if I have loaded the BIOS setup or not because I can't see anything. It just continues to hum along, fans whirring, LED lights flashing. The only funny thing (or not funny really) is at the beginning of the POST the system will appear to start up normally for about 10 seconds then it acts like it wants to die, the fans and lights continue to work but it appears it wants to enter POST all over again. But 10 seconds later it is back to full speed/power, without keyboard or monitor. I have also tested the USB ports with low power charging devices and they seem ok. Next I plan to start unplugging the peripherals that are plugged into the m/b one by one to try and pinpoint the problem. If the problem was memory or CPU, I imagine the system would hang and/or crash but it just sits there humming along with no way to I/O. I don't have any beeps to decode either. I am going back to PCPartpickder.com and look for compatibility problems which was the issue you found. Thanks for any ideas!

After resetting the factory heatsink of the cpu, as soon as I press the power on on my pc, the screen opens a little, it shows that it opens and as soon as the pc goes to do something else (like entering the bios or windows) then the screen closes and does not open and the rest of the computer works normally, I put it on 3 different screens and with many different cables (hdmi, vga, display port) and again nothing. I made the pc at Christmas. can you help me quickly

can a faulty cpu prevent all the fans in my pc from working? All my rgb on my graphics card works. But my case fan, Cpu fan and gpu fan won't spin. very confused. also my case rgb won't turn on. I also haven't tried hooking it up into my monitor yet but see that as pointless if i can't get the fans to spin. I tested the psu and it works, the rgb works when i have the circuit completed with the psu. idk what's going on. i think its either the motherboard or the cpu though. also, when i hook up my rgb lit up keyboard it works and lights up as it should.

Ive got a used gtx 1660 .It wont post but will with another older gpu. Its looks like a gpu issue everything else is working just cant post with the 1660. Should I use the old gpu to update the settings?

Thank you for the video. I was struggling I’ll figure out why I have no post video updates on the build. I’ll check compatibility when I ordered them and it look like they were compatible but now when I checked again I noticed that the board needs to be on a specific updated bios to work with the processor. So I am pretty sure that is the issue and will fix it just like in your video. Thank you for making this. Luckily I have a processor in my other PC I could swap to the board so I can get it updated.

I am hoping someone can answer this question for me?. I have had mixed replies to this as some say yes and some say no. I am currently waiting on my parts for upgrading my build after many years. Upgrades will be motherboard, CPU, memory, case, and I will be replacing my old boot drive with an M.2 and this means it will be a clean install. However, I have two HDD's that have other files and my Steam games on them. What I would like to know is can I just plug them in and they will still have all files on them?. Do I have to partition them and If I do how do I do that as I have not done this stuff in many years and cannot remember lol. I will also be adding another SSD for storage as well so it will be 1-M.2 new, 1 SSD new,2 HDD's old with files. Basically, if someone can tell me the procedures or steps without losing my files along with any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am guessing bios was not updated... Or Mobo sometimes simply just dont like some gpu's. Ive had weird issues when gpu works on other but does not work on every. Maybe not good enuf psu for example, is also a thing, even if its properly build.

I'm not sure what I'm still doing wrong. Other than put everything together before updating the bios. I followed these steps to update the bios, it seems to have worked considering the led went out and was only about 5 minutes. But I'm still experiencing the same problem. No screen. Also the led indicators just keep cycling. Should I just leave it for a time? Or is there something else I can do?

Wish that was my issue mine is booting into the bios screen but not windows, I get a blue like on my monitor that its on and the display lights up too but 2just not seeing windows. maybe because the graphics card drivers are not fully loaded but if I do a format and start all over I can see windows . It happens when I turn off the monitor I have turned off the HDD from shutting down & pushed the screen saver out for 3 hrs and stopped anything from hindering an issue.

Would this still happen today with a Ryzen 5800X and a motherboard PG Velocita B550 that says it’s compatible with Ryzen gen 3 & 4, and future generations (including 5800X which is what we have)? PC is all set up and won’t post, although we tried running it without the graphics card in thinking we should wait until after downloading windows. We are going to set up graphics card and plug in the monitor to the graphics card port (had it in motherboard hdmi port) and try again. If it still doesn’t post do you think the motherboard will need bios update in order to be compatible with Ryzen 5800x CPU? If so, how can we do that with no local pc store and no older cpu?

yes i had the same problem 3 days ago until i checked my motherboard reviews on amazon , and i went to the 1 star rating and i found that every one was saying its not compatible with ryzen 3600 out of the box , and its needed bios update..... , i wish i watched this video before , i could have saved time
