How to turn your Driver Monitoring System (DMS) settings off. The New-Gen Triton (MV) uses a camera to monitor the driver’s face and detect driver drowsiness or distraction. An audio prompt response and visual alert is displayed via the instrument cluster meter display when such events are detected. A FAQ we have received is how to turn this feature off. Here is a how to guide for you!
Please note that when you turn your vehicle off, your DMS will automatically be back on. This is a great safety feature we do recommend leaving it on as if the system detects distraction, the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) operates earlier than usual. If the system detects fatigue (Drowsiness, Micro-sleep, Sleep), FCM and Lane Departure Warning operate earlier than usual.
*UPDATE NOW AVAILABLE*
Mitsubishi have now have an update for the current software, which reduces the sensors to detect at 8-16 seconds instead of 4-8 seconds. This will be completed at your next scheduled service.

Test driving a demo over the weekend, this system is the only thing stopping me from purchasing this car. There has to be a way to permanently turn the DMS off

Hey guys, I just picked up my new Triton today, and it came with a software upgrade that scales the sensitivity of the monitoring system a whole bunch. Mitsubishi told me this was coming, but I was surprised that it came early. Very impressed. Soooo much better. Ask Mitsubishi about this. Apparently, I am the first to receive this and I believe it won't cost you anything. Cheers!

Okay, so how do I turn it off so that it doesn't turn itself back on, on the next start up?

There is a DMS update available now. This update aims to refine the DMS by lowering its sensitivity to certain natural movements and adjusting the minimum speed threshold for activation. The update is now in place as part of the pre-delivery process for yet-to-be-delivered vehicles. And existing owners can request the update during their next scheduled service.

I have one on loan, the system is an absolute ball ache. have to go through and turn of a bunch of "options' to make the car usable. and dont get me started on the start stop function. at least there is a button for that. Nice ute, but would never buy one.

Hi - thx for the great video. Question - will this permanently turn of the driver monitoring system, or do you need to do it every time you start the car? Thx!

You will need to do this function each time you start the vehicle if you choose.

Can i suggest a shortcut. Press the 3 lines under the navigation buttons - scroll the wheel up 1 click, then scroll the wheel up 3 clicks, press the wheel, scroll up 1 click then press the wheel again. Much quicker

Still shouldn’t need to do it every time OR just give a button on the unit so first time it beeps you can hit the button and drive in peace…

@@parlevoo ancap isn’t the Gov… its an independent body that is really a bit of a joke… they keep adding crap that really doesn’t matter. How does taking my eyes off the road while flicking through menus to disable anything actually keep people safe? I would prefer a car that is reliable and protects with basic features… its already bad enough with the constant beeping from a backpack on the passenger seat. I have become someone immune to the beeps now (or deaf) pretty effective… Wonder what happens if you just snap it off… I am sure some smart kid will come up with a system to bypass the system with a dongle. Tire pressure monitoring, I do a 5 (or 8 tyre with trailer) rotation. Warning lights about low pressure blinging you. Seatbelt not done up with a bag on the seat beeps distracting you. Driver monitoring beeping at you, distracting you. You need to wear dark sunnies and ear plugs to protect yourself from the safety features. Can’t wait for the first law suit around deafness caused by in-cabin beeping.

Agreed its a stupid government requirement , but it's a totally crap 💩 design and implementation by Mitsubishi. Just like the auto stop/start design. I have had no issues with these features on other car brands.

I drove one of these on the weekend, there is absolutely no way I would ever own one. The system DOES NOT WORK. It goes off constantly while you're driving perfectly looking straight ahead with both hands on the wheel, not doing anything even slightly incorrect. This method to disable is way to annoying, needs a button on the steering wheel or something. Or just get rid of it altogether, since it doesn't work anyway.

Whats the problem with the driver monitoring system pick up my GSR up to day only went off twice on the way home from dealer which is 55kms drive😄

Like many drivers with a few decades of driving long distances I typically have one hand on the wheel at 12o’clock. The idea of some sort of fatigue monitoring is ok but it should be in another location and come on after maybe an hour of motion. This is just annoying… I am due to replace my triton… its clear I will not be getting a new gen one… shame. IF there is a workshop option to permanently disable it like they can with the auto locking doors I will give it a go. As is… they have really missed the mark.

Only thing stopping me from buying one. Will be sticking with my 21 Hilux. Should be at least a button to disable. It’s not just the sensitivity. The numbskull that decided to place the sensor unit behind the wheel needs to be fired. Might be time for some pushback from these manufacturers against ANCAP. Time to move on and make ANCAP irrelevant.
