I have tried this experiment once it works but it's not cost efficient at all As it takes hundreds of Zener diodes to generate a small amount of current

Voltage is pointless without current. This is about as inefficient as you can get, you might as well use LEDs.

there actually is current. he is using low rated zener diodes. so its putting out a very small current in amps he didnt measure that in this video but its small the way he has it wired is pointless. there are stronger zener diodes rated as high or higher than 40v/5w-15w in those applications this is pretty efficient. a solar charger to charge batteries (not to power anything) so yea its much cheaper to build your own solar charger using zener diodes and a solar charge controller commected to a battery pack.
