Finally someone has done the shave comparison we have all been waiting for!! I started DE shaving in December so the heritage is my first exposure to this head. For that reason, it will be the one I stick with until I get enough experience to move to a more aggressive setup. I did however, just purchase an Ikon Bulldog handle to replace the stock one because I am a larger guy and it has felt a little dainty in my hands. Thanks for the great video!
It is known that the Muhle R89 and Edwin Jagger DE89 are different razors, although very similar. The Muhle has a gap between the blades of 0.45 millimeters (0.018 inches), while the Edwin Jagger has a larger gap of 0.71 millimeters (0.028 inches). It is known that the Gillette Heritage razor head was made by Muhle. Then why is Edwin Jagger mentioned so often in Gillette Heritage reviews?
Pretty sure it’s the exact same head. That said I am pretty fond of the texturing on the handle on the Heritage. Minor difference though. Hopefully this is successful, so they make a TTO.
The only razor I can see them bringing back is a Gillette tech if they go with their older design. Or a Gillette Knack. But I think that Gillette would go more with made in China. Chinese tech or Chinese TTO.
I just hope this is them testing the market before they consider jumping back into the DE market in North America, why not use a tried and true design that can appeal to most people as the test bed
I do hope they come out with their own stuff again. I myself and some friends have personally emailed P&G to ask them if they would make their own stuff again. I guess after so much pressure from the shave market etc they did something.
Will never happen. would have to start from scratch with the tool and design and equipment to even make them. and if we wanted them made in the USA with brass will be a 300 dollar razor. best we will get is rebranded razors saying Gillette.
They used the Edwin Jagger hewd because they don't have the machinery to make DE razor heads. The handles are easier to make, so they could do those, but for the purposes of just testing the market, they contracted out the heads. Their 'King C Gillette' razor, I believe is more unique.
I compared the weight of the Heritage, Muhle, EJ and RR; small differences. On 3 pass shaves they all provide excellent shaves. On one pass, there might be a small difference. All in all great razors. I like OC razors, so use these very seldom.....
