First Cold-Start & pure Akrapovic exhaust SOUND footage of the all-new 2020 / 2021 VW Golf 8 R (MK8) powered by the range topping 2.0 TSI delivering 320 hp & 420 Nm of torque (total weight: 1551 kg). We are writing the year 2021 but petrol cars start to sound good again, so there is still hope for all us petrolheads! Of course this car is AWD but it also features a tricky torque vectoring system at the real-axle which not only enables the "Drift Mode" but also seems to have a positive effect on traction in Launch Control mode! Golf is good for it's price. Comparing the price of it with like the new a45s and rs3 it's way cheaper than them and the performance isn't really that bad. It's also very reliable. Stop hating on vw

@@EternalEngine24 Sources? Cars have been getting more and more boring. Drift mode is a poor excuse for oversteer, which many older hot hatches could perform if provoked enough (ex. Fiesta ST150, Fiat Punto GT Turbo...) Granted, the new hatches might be faster and more efficient, but they suffer from terrible sound (compare the new Type R's sound to the older EP3 and FN2 Type Rs - the true K20s with the 8200-8300 rpm rev limiters in Europe) and utter lack of character, as well as questionable looks (as much as I love Honda, the new Type R is obnoxious and filled with fake plastic vents)

@@hiiiofficial8306 but VW looks like a brick and there is no big differences between Golf VI, VII, VIII. A35 has better interior and outside design mate. Stock A35 can pops and bangs so loudly, but you can change it for installing MG motorsport exhaust for 1,5k euro and then this Golf will be like a vacuum cleaner next to AMG

@@nashbrucewemmer2446 Yes but this new setup is a big difference from that. You can make 100% of the power go to the rear wheels which you will be able to drift. I just meant a whole video on drifting is not really necessary but yes it would be fun to see someone drifting it. I'm sure many guys will be posting that soon. Its not a huge selling feature for people I don't think based on what I've read on RU-vid that some are saying.

Man i sure as hell hope we do! Id get it 100%! They say North America will only get fully loaded Golf R’s. The only option choices we will have will be transmission and car color (blue, black, white). Does that mean we will see the akrapovic on it? I have no idea... we didnt with the 7.5..

@@hiiiofficial8306 No, it isn't. You want that exhaust, then it is a £3100 option in the UK, which is a lot of money for an exhaust. Audi typically charge £1000 for their performance exhaust upgrades on RS models, just to put it into perspective.

@@sammgaming676 just because it's got a drift mode doesn't mean it isn't Haldex. The question is whether they actually improved it or only added a drift mode. The old one was unpredictable on a track, and in fact that Haldex system was one of the main reasons the R and its related brethren (S3, RS3) have always been slow track cars for their power. The other big reason being (still is) the subpar chassis when it comes to performance applications.

Depends on your preferences. Do you want a large six-cylinder engine and the deep sound than go for the M2 but if you want an everyday car which drives better in almost every situation than go for the new Golf R😜

Design ist ein absoluter Traum. Endlich gibt es wieder einen vernünftigen Spoiler! Sound ist leider sehr enttäuschend für eine Akra, da kommt gefühlt nur heiße Luft raus. Da wird es hoffentlich bald bessere Anlagen geben.

@@christophhazy8080 sind letztendlich auch nur 4-5k Differenz, aber ich wollte das fahraktivere Auto haben. Der R gefällt mir optisch besser, aber von 100-200 dürften sich die beiden nicht viel nehmen, da der R knapp 90kg mehr wiegt..

Too heavy. Ridiculous sound. Cheap interior plastics. Mk7 was better in almost every aspect. Today Ford, Renault and even Hyundai have more emotional power hatchbacks.

I'm sorry but this car is the biggest let down ever. If this car for 400+bhp then yes maybe it would warrant the sticker price, however if you had 50+grand to buy a GOLF! there are there are many better options out there.

If we compare this MK8R with the other MK7.5R with Akrapovic exhaust that you tested, we hear that the explosive upshifts have decreased. There is a lot of muffler echo added also like a failing whistle
