We finally moved into the new Google office in New York: St. John's Terminal! We've been waiting years for this, and we've finally moved in. I did a quick little tour of the new office that opened in February of 2024. There's 5-6 new cafes, event spaces, amazing waterfront views, a teaching kitchen, a rec room with a gym, fitness studios, massage rooms and studios, etc. Come check it out with me! I filmed this on the first day of business!!!

I noted the flexible workstations. What does it take to get an office with a door? Is that only for people at a certain level or are they assigned to staff who need to reach out externally on a regular basis as part of their job?

It’s all decided by the individual neighborhoods! Though usually it’s the directors that get it due to the privacy of their work, but it’s agreed within the neighborhood. Everyone in this building pretty much reach out externally which is why the building is built to serve clients!

For non-Googlers? Unfortunately no. It’s a workplace still. Googlers can give tours to their own guests though.

Sorry, unfortunately we’re able to do that unless it’s with a group Google works with. I’m not familiar with that. The tour is pretty much what the video shows!

Hi, why the St John’s Terminal specifically? You can visit a Canadian office instead and you have to work with a local Googler to bring you in as a guest either socially or the Googler needs to plan educational programming. The office is very strict with loosely bringing guests in.

Nous aimerions aller au Terminal St-John’s parce nous habitons loin des sièges sociaux Google canadiens et nous serons à New York du 26 au 28 prochain. Étant donné qu’il s’agit d’un groupe composé d’étudiants d’un programme qui s’appelle « Gestion de commerces », notre but est de visiter des entreprises New Yorkaises. Si vous pensez que notre objectif est trop ambitieux, peut-être auriez-vous d’autres suggestions d’organisations inspirantes dans le domaine des affaires à nous proposer ? @melaniefournier9114 wish you best of luck! That seems like a very great retreat! I would say the recommendation is to reach out to recruiters and pitch it as a great idea to work with great talent. My only issue is that it may not be that ideal for recruiters to work with non-US prospects so the pitch may not hold well. But in an ideal way, it would be a win-win so it would also be in their best interest. I think if you reached out to Canadian companies with offices in NY or companies in NY that have strong ties to Canada, that can help! You can also work with school alumni that reside in New York and ask for their companies to help out!

We of course work! The video of course is not going to show the workspace area that often because I’m not allowed to and it wouldn’t make sense to show people working if the point is to give you a tour. Plus, that risks showing what’s on their screens. Just because people aren’t on a computer doesn’t mean they aren’t working. It could be with a client or colleagues having an in person meeting.
