I think we need a pack out comparison with the 2 compartment bullet and a 21L GR1 & Gr2 26l. I like that the 2 compartment is slick, could replace my GR2 26L for business.
I know most people wouldn't notice, but adding the outro with you showing how the bag looks on somome is the best way to end the videos. It gives us an idea what type of look we are looking for when choosing a bag along with its features.
Awesome details JB! Curious, now that there are Gorucks in Cordura, Ripstop Nylon, Xpac, Dyneema and Waxed Canvas fabrics...would it be possible to have all rucks out for a water resistance test video? You would be the first in the world and it would help people decide on which material to order 🤙
You saved me! Was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Robic Nylon 16L then the two compartment comes out Win Win….with the quick access pocket and laptop sleeve I’m in!! And used your link. Again glad I put it off for a few days, now to explain to the wife in route is the GR Samurai and two compartment of course it makes sense every day carry and special occasion is my GRXC2 carryology Samurai 😉🤙🏽
Great review, man i’m so jealous of you, all those beautiful Goruck stuff you can choose from :-) Glad i could get my hands on a classic black bullet with the orange interior second hand in Europe, still love it. Hope to get my hands some day on a Heritage waxed canvas GR1 or GR2.
Bullet ruck double compartment heritage 16 or 18L with a laptop compartment would literally be the perfect bag. Maybe with the 210 D back panel, but that's my opinion
Carryology has another GoRuck collab project coming in December. I have a feeling it will be the Heritage or Ultra version of the two compartment Bullet. For that reason, I’m holding off on the 18L right now.
it’s very cute but if you ask me it 100% defeats the purpose of most goruck bags being tight against your back and low profile. Also nothing will replace my GR1 Samurai i don’t think i’ll ever buy another goruck bag again since i already have the perfect one 😂 it would take a miracle to replace that one for me
how packable is the two-compartment bullet? Thinking of getting either the 16L or 18L and squishing it down as much as possible into my 30-40L bags to use as a daypack when i one-bag around.
So the ripstop does pack easier but the frame sheet and multiple layers of the 2-compartment design is overall thicker. I honestly like the classic bullet if packability was the goal
I literally just bought a GR1 heritage I was close to buying the two compartment bullet but that gray logo turns me off I wish they made that black and that would have been a done deal Plus I would have saved some money!! However the leather on the heritage it just puts it over the top it is beautiful. I've been into bags for a long time I've never tried Goruck I've been missing out I feel like I need more of them now.....
1. Is the back panel framesheet as thick on the 16L 2 compartment version as it is on the single compartment 16L? 2. Would you say the robic nylon 420D is as robust/durable as the 500D cordura? 3. Do you feel the two compartment bullet is a lot bulkier / not as sleek on your back as compared to the single compartment bullet? Does the extra compartment really make the bag stick out a lot further? 4. Lastly, if you already had a 26L GR1 and we’re looking to get another GoRuck as a complementary bag would you go for the single compartment 16L or the 2 compartment 16L? Would love to get them all, but it’s just not practical at this time. 😅
Sorry for the late reply, I wanted to verify a few things. Some answers: 1. Yes, the frame sheets appear identical. 2. I would say the two are VERY similar and you wouldn't notice a difference. This is from experience and the design spec of the material. 3. Yes, the double compartment is bulkier and sticks out further based on it's dimensions 4. That depends on how you plan to use it. The double compartment is very organized and has lots of places for stuff. The single compartment is versatile and is my favorite grab-and-go or quick-trip bag. Hope this helps!
@@JBOutside1 Thanks so much for taking the time to respond! Helps a lot. Probably will go with the dual compartment as it might work better as a standalone travel bag over the single compartment giving more options overall.
@@JBOutside1 OK, need your input again. If you were to compare the double compartment 16 L bullet versus the double compartment 18 L bullet. Although both are very close in size, do you feel the 18 L has a bit more utility? Or is the increase in capacity negligible? Which do you prefer overall? Also, would there be any reason why you would go with a single compartment laptop bullet instead? Just trying to look at all scenarios. For me personally, not sure if this matters in terms of pack size, but I’m 6’ tall. wanna make sure a 16 L didn’t fit too small.
Man, the 18L Bullet 2 compartment is a damn beast and I'm pretty sure it fits more than 18L. I just put a Nikon Z8 with 400mm lens attached, a 24-120mm lens, an OM-1 with 90mm macro attached, a flash, diffuser, a change of clothes in a PD small packing cube, minimal tech and toiletries and kibble for my dog for 2 days. How the hell does all that fit in 18L?! I also have the Able Carry Daily Plus, which is 21L and I couldn't even dream of fitting all of this in it. Same with the PD Everyday Zip 20L.
The two compartment bullet crush my head 😮🔥🔥its a really problem from europe (italy) buy a goruck and now they put out this bomb i hate them 😅 but i love my gr2 26l my gr1 21 and my bullet 15l
Same bullet strap design, different exterior material of course...and compared to the PLC20 the Bullet has a ton more EDC utility...gonna do an EDC video on the bullet soon
I think I’m overwhelmed. I have my EDC bag. I was looking for a reasonable backpack to recommend to some young men wanting to get into rucking with sandbags. Money is certainly an issue. I see TONS of high-speed bags that have stray far away from my intended purpose. Can you help me with a recommended site?
Yeah that's a tough call. If you're going to beat things up with rucking you kind of get what you paid for. That said, I recommend using whatever backpacks can be found at local thrift shops or Walmart. Just get something that is inexpensive and will hold the weight. It won't last long but it will get the idea across and get the group going.
Hello, out there...Hope you see this. Goruck just came out with GR1 in Robic (black, the only color I know). Looking for lighter weight GR1 21L but only want to pull trigger if isn't slip/silde-y, is sturdy for EDC/travel, has good back support, holds its shape when not full, water is not going to seep in. I have a 21L Heritage, Slick and older version (and GR2 26L) - heaaavvvyyy for this female. But their bags fit my torso better than any other. What say you, Y or N on Robic? I wish the bullet with laptop compartment was comfy. My back didn't like it. Too stiff. When you said no, for me, to Dynema, I did as told. This? P.S. I wish they would make a lighter-weight Field Pocket attached to GR1/one that could be attached. I use mine at the top of the bag but it def adds heft.
So...its complicated. The robic will probably not hold its shape like you want. Going to flow more as it's a lighter feeling material generally. That has been me experience with the M23 and Bullets in that material. That being said I haven't handled the GR1 so can't speak with certainly...just a guess.
I wonder if they'll ever add a QAP to the smaller bags like the Bullet 14L or the GR0. Or would that take away too much space from the main compartment?
@@JBOutside1 thanks for the reply! I have the MPL22 and for EDC feels like it fits the same use case but... I really like the idea of a "mini GR2." How does it compare to the MPL22 in terms of available space? Do you think it punches above the advertised18 liters?
Question between this and a GR2 26L heritage. How will the smaller straps hold up under a fully packed out load and will that internal slip pocket have enough room for me to slip an iPad and full size Bible inside of as I typically carry in my GR1 plate pocket? I have some shoulder injuries that prevent me from being able to comfortably wear the Evergoods bags because they dig right into the painful spots. Since the bullet straps are more narrow than the GR1/2 will they dig into my shoulders in a similar way or is it just the way EG shapes their straps?
The bullet straps are definitely more narrow and could potentially cause you some problems. I haven't compared them directly to Evergoods but they're pretty close. I think you'd just have to try it on to see. I have worn the bullets weighed down and it's doable but I prefer the wider straps if I was going to be under load constantly.
Thank you for the response. I may be better off going with the GR2 since I already know how it fits. I had the 500 diversion of it but I gifted it to somebody and have wanted to get another pretty much the day I gave it away. Since you have the black heritage, how has that color held up for you? I have the blue heritage, and it has held up amazingly well, as far as scuffs or nicks and holes in the fabric. I contacted Gook about upcoming colors and they told me that in the summer they will re-release the olive. I’m not sure what it is about the black heritage bags but for some reason I just don’t really like the look of them. Not sure if it’s because Black seems like a weird color for heritage and therefore I wonder about longevity or if it just looks too plain without a different color, leather accent. Any thoughts you can share on the black heritage bag that you have?
Maybe I missed it but is the version you have the 18L? Lastly, do you think the 18 is perfect? I have a standard 15l bullet and was thinking buying the 16l would be too close in dimensions. Great Video as always!
Hi JB great review as always! I have a question was hoping u can help answer! Do you think the 18l new bullet and also the GR2 34 and 40l can fit the evergoods CAP2 into the outer compartment? Thanks!
The Bullet DC16 is almost perfectly sized to be a personal item on the most restrictive domestic airlines (United & Jet Blue). The Bullet DC18 is actually bigger than a 20L AON Whitley.
@@JBOutside1 Saw your comment about a Field Pocket in the bucket molle. I can see that working if you use it as a range bag. For EDC, since there is so much top/front access already in the Bullet DC, I am thinking about mounting a Yeti rambler sling horizontally in the bucket molle as a top/quick access water bottle pocket...
Great question, and it's a mix. I still am buying quite a few...thankfully the channel is close to being able to cover some of those investments! But I am developing relationships with some of the brands so I can bring more content.
I think throwing in a "thanks to GoRuck for sending these over for review" when appropriate might clear up any questions. Also you cost me a lot of $$ today and didn't even cover the 35L GR3 😜
