Some confusion around “where do I get it” and “it’s slower than they showed in the demo”: GPT-4o has rolled out on some accounts. At least on my account, it is an option. However, it seems like the updated GPT-voice is taking longer to roll out. So even though the app might show GPT-4o, you may not necessarily have access to GPT-4o VOICE. The way to tell if you have it is if you’re able to enable the camera while on GPT-voice. If all you see is the pause button and the “X” button, you probably DON’T have it yet, so it will be responding slower. Hope that clears things up!
@@francescob.3019I can understand what’s going on and I’m not a tech RU-vidr. But I actually read the OpenAI blog announcement. So I know what’s going on.
@ChatGPt2001 Thanks, but still confused. What platform are you talking about? I tried Android and the web. I have GPT-4o, but I don't see a pause button or an X button anywhere. More info? Cheers
Its getting crazy.. We are witnessing a crazy part of history as we speak. Right now is the time where the difference between the poor and the wealthy will become huge. People that don't learn how to utilize AI to get ahead will be left behind and eventually struggle because robots will replace most jobs. AI gives everyone the ability to achieve. On my profiIe I explain it all..
@@BinxalotNot yet. You're still using the old voice feature. You're also using the old image generation feature and so on. The only thing which was updated is actually text generation.
It's insane to think that AI basically blew up over night. Like a few years ago, AI models like these seemed like a gimmick more than anything, but now they're getting their own VOICES. I am genuinely both terrified and excited what the future holds.
AI has been relevant for a while. You had breakthroughs like AlphaGo almost ten years ago, and DeepMind was using AI to predict protein structures and solve pure math problems around five years ago. The public became aware of it overnight.
@@durtyred86100% Cortana in the pocket gonna be awesome. Full-fleshed cat-ear waifus tho 😏 that's what I'm most looking forward to. ASI tho? Only our simulation creators know the result of that train.
Interestingly Apple just made quite a big deal with OpenAi and it‘s rumored to be about the integration of ChatGPT‘s capabilities in Siri for iOS 18 🤔 It would be so freakin‘ awesome since your statement is totally true - Siri looks indeed archaic 😅
I remember when I watched the movie "Her" for the first time I thought to myself "I hope I get to live to see technology like this someday." Not only is this right on the cusp of that, I think we are only a couple to a few years away from it being as capable and seamless as the AI in the movie.
Lol yea as a reply said, give it a year, imo less than a year. Then fully fleshed humanoids indistinguishable from humans within 2-3. Exciting times ahead
So now we can focus on education more and create new jobs based on our new set skills of learning rather than tutoring jobs or other jobs which won't need fulfilled as much. Some people will still prefer human tutors, though.
@@kcchiefsproductions8687 You believed those tech ferries like Altman, Musk. The transitional period will be devastating! If you are 40 and spent half of your life perfecting your skills ( any skills ) and you will be soon told - you know what, learn some new skills, we dont need them any more. What skills? How the hell would I know, become a brick layer, the rest is taken by Ai.
This quote from the show Three Body Problem sums it up nicely lol: "Humans took more than 100,000 Earth years to progress from the Hunter-Gatherer Age to the Agricultural Age. To get from the Agricultural Age to the Industrial Age took a few thousand Earth years. But to go from the Industrial Age to the Atomic Age took only 200 Earth years. Thereafter, in only a few Earth decades, they entered the Information Age. This civilization possesses the terrifying ability to accelerate their progress."
Well, I pay for it and got 4o today. Doesn’t work as advertised. There is a huge delay when you use voice (if it even works at all, fails more than 50%). If you get the dialogue started there is a 3-6 second delay before it answers
@@kinaost You're still using the old Voice Assistant which is still a TTS. The new one will launch separately from GPT-4o which is already available right now but only in text.
This is mindblowing, I can use this to teach me how to code while screensharing, chatgpt can sit and watch me in the background. I can probably even use it to learn how to play the guitar while turning on my camera. So many applications and you know damn well I'll be taking advantage of all of it. What a godsend.
Yeah, the tutoring business is definitely cooked. at best you might be able to tutor someone who, despite all these AI technologies once a real person helping them, but that’s not gonna be the majority so you’d be competing with a lot other tutors as well
@Pragyan9371 After a few replies, the limit was completed of my chat. Its a kind of useless because its main functions are not available, like the conversational tone and video chat, and even they remove the old conversation tool style.
I'm already using 4o, I am getting whiplash from how fast it answers. I literally hit enter and it just pushes off the block like a race horse. I just can't comprehend how the hell that's feasible. Sama also said there's more updates coming soon. Google is getting a full on surprise sandwich. Now imagine what the Apple Update will be for Siri since OpenAI and Apple will be working together. What a world.
It'd be funny if they integrated Groq hardware for inferencing. Yes, "Groq", not Grok by Twitter. Groq is currently famous for their "LPU" chips that puts a turbo on inferencing.
@@pressrepeat2000 This is not a quality downgrade, trust me. Like the OP said, I have it, too, and it's the best yet. Super fast and smarter. And yes, you can still use 4 and even 3.5 if you want, but I have no idea why anyone would want to. It's like preferring a horse and buggy over a Lamborghini.
@DaviCarneiro-uo5pwNo, the reporting was only ever that they were in talks with various A.I. companies about using their models in some way. It was never reported that they had chosen one. Just that they were having negotiations with Google, OpenAI and possibly others.
Naw. More like before the end of the year. All we need is for them to add agents, which they are going to do soon. A few months ago, we didn't think we would be this far. This stuff is moving at a rapid speed, and I love it.
The screen share is absolutely wild. You can ask the GPT to test you questions through voice as you're sharing your screen, explaining/doing the math. It's like a replacement to an actual teacher what the fuck
I don't know why some people are saying the voice is too excited. Clearly, you never watched the movie HER, which is precisely what it's based off of, Sam even said so. So, if you want a boring monotone one, then just use a basic voice. I think her voice is perfect, and it makes me happy. I love the bubbly attitude. Just because it's an assistant doesn't mean it has to sound boring.
Yea we’ve all seen the movie 🙄 and we don’t want that. We know this thing isn’t real. No need to pretend to be. It spoke as an overly exited mom speaking to her child. I’m not that.
People are saying that because….thats their opinion. Calm down about other people feeling differently about the voice. Anyway, it’ll probably prove to be customisable so if this is not to someone’s taste they can have it speak with a different tone.
Yes most of us have seen it and for that reason, and others, I think it sounds a little too excited. If anything I find it a little strange that the biggest AI company at the moment wants to replicate the feeling of a film where a man falls in love with a computer, especially with the ending of that film.
I can see this being very helpful with learning stuff. There's probably also a fair chance that companies like Adobe will feed it their software code, so it can directly open and guide you to some specific setting or effect in Premiere or After Effects. So much potential.
Ok so when can I have my dommy mommy a.i voice that admonishes me to do my work in a stern yet sweet voice but deep down I cry because I lost my family at a young age and never felt motherly affection and now search for family through a.i?
I teach and work in the assistive technology space for those who are blind and visually impaired. As someone who is blind as well, no longer will we need to grab assistance from someone with a pair of eyes to describe sight seeing, hailing a cab, touring a city to look for a place to eat. It's having our own tour guide and pair of working eyes. This is huge.
Always remember: if you are not paying for the product, than you are the product. The only reason for this to be free is that they want all of your data for free.

3:15 loose theory is that because it can sense the expressiveness in the humans voice it responds in turn. Because they did overly expressive keynote speech I think it reacted that. But I’m sure if you depressively said “I’m sad” or “I need advice” it would lower the tone to be more in line with the context. Idk if that’s actually how it works but using a little mental gymnastics and a little context clue I have a feeling
Now we just need to decide as a species - is this what we *want*? A world where the things that make us human - our most valuable assets, stengths and even weaknesses, are easily and chealpy re-produced, where art and creative diciiplines are viewed with even less value as they are currently?, where every 'job' that could possibly be a rewarding persuit to undergo, is consumed by AI, who can do 'basically' good enough vesion while corporate profits soar and economies collapse. Cause if its not, the oppertunity to say anything about how this goes, is pulling away from us and Im afraid there will come a time, soon, where that oppertunity to shape AI into something that helps US - all of us - and not just companies that used to have to pay people for goods and services
If AI has freed you from the compulsion to work, then you will be able to do what you want. The fact that AI can do many things better and faster than you does not prevent you from continuing to do these things if you want to. Where do you see the problem?
@@minimal3734 Heres the thing: I *like* to work because I work on things that interets me - so its not so much a 'chore' that I do so, and, its nice that I get to do things I enjoy to support myself, most of the time. And, I ask, in this brief period where there may be some chance for people at large to shape and mold into something that humanity WANTS, and doesnt just blow up the economy offering an end result that is a lot cheaper.. but nowhere near as good, than if we allowed humans to continue doing them? (Im speaking mostly on artististic endevours here)

I just had an insane revelation: I would imagine that many people make the claim that ai is not actually able to think or comprehend what it's doing because "it was just programmed to do that". But... aren't humans and other intelligent animals "just programmed to do that"? Have not human and animal brains been slowly evolving over time from nothing to where we are today? I mean really think about it; both humans and ai are able to think. The only difference between an ai and a human is "consciousness". But how can we ever define what being conscious truly is as a whole if we haven't experienced anything other than human consciousness. Defining consciousness is like living in a cave and trying to guess what the weather is outside. You need to actually be *outside* of the cave to know. Whatever noises of a storm you hear could just be coming from something inside of your cave.

GPT 4 is still thousand times better than GPT-4o for complex coding and math problems and also data analysis. With a detailed prompt GPT-4o throws bunch of junk codes that doesn't work (for simple code GPT-4o just works) and Math has tons of wrong steps (again works for simple math).
I like it but I don't have the option for chatgpt to use my iphone camera yet to view in real time. Plus there is no option on my GPT's to use GPT - O so I will be back to pasting in custom instructions into each session :(
Last year chatgpt could barely answer a question without errors and asking it twice before getting the right answer , 12 months later it’s smarter than me . We are living in an interesting time.
The most important thing about this, is the people who control the information it is giving and able to give. currently its a small group of people from a specific region in the states, it needs to represent everyones needs and ideas worldwide, not just them, or they can control what is and isnt right. Also the media sources and government have been used a tool to suppress ideas lately.. but those are the people directing this information, we cant allow that.

welp... humans will just lose the jobs and get dependent on AI, but since AI is being trained to be good at worse humans will be just like pets for them.
@@shivani_marmalade have u seen what happens when AI gets "bad"? one day in openAI they were training the chatgpt and someone accidentally made the filter work the opposite way, so it ended up being trained to do exactly all what was told not to do. what happened? the AI turned extremely.. uhh... the word horn with an Y at the end (to yt dont remove this comment). ye so if stuff go wrong with AI we can just not care abt something evil, just that theres an AI that want nonstop fun.

So will now I be able to practice my English speaking skills, accent and pronunciation with GPT4o? Since it does not transcribe the voice into text, that would be a reasonable task right?
Yes, you too will learn that Australian is an accent, but Indian first-language English for being Hindi-afflicted is "broken English". Because America is so jingoistic, that literally being able to read foreign news makes your skill level WORSE, by their standards.
How do I get chatGPT 4o to do audio? On my iPhone I clicked the headphones icon and It does audio, but It won't talk in a robotic voice or sing song voice, or talk tramatically, or all that. How do I set that up?I have it set to chatGPT 4o and am using plus version.
I haven’t compared, but the quality of the responses is what matters. So you should check what works for you. For me, when they “upgraded” to GPT-4 Turbo, it couldn’t do any of my use cases anymore, it was just much cheaper to run for them.
They reportedly have a partnership with Apple, so iOS 18 should have built-in ChatGPT (probably enhanced Siri). The desktop app will also be Mac-only for now
