This was a very helpful review. I'm probably going to pick up the game at some point so it's good to know the problems before hand.

This has been the most useful review I´ve ever seen about this game.

Bought this game the day it launched for full price, worst buyers' remorse I've ever had

Actually, a few things you might notice is: Gunpla are NOT randomized. You need play through Event and Story missions and find specific missions that spawn specific Gunpla. For example: In Marika's route, Kyrios and Dynames WILL spawn in Mission 6, given her route specializes in Gunpla from SEED, SEED Destiny, and Gundam 00. If you don't get the parts you want? Try again, it's only 10 minutes of your time, and picking up high-cost duplicates will help you raise GP more efficiently, like Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog. In terms of Gunpla like Destiny and Stargazer, that requires actual RNG, and patience. But if you take your time, you'll find what you're looking for. GP Costs actually vary from 1000, to 10000. It's very easy to acquire most mass-produced units like the GM and Ball, both which are generics that cost 1000 GP per part, a single mission with about 12-15 completed quests should be sufficient for one or two parts. While you could grind for 10000 GP, it's honestly much easier to just blow through missions and locate the mission that has the Gunpla with the parts you're looking for. If you're having trouble with getting the parts you want, I have some tips about farming. For starters, equip the Zaku II arms, any version is fine. This will grant you the Spike Shooter EX Skill, which GUARANTEES a part to drop from a neutral or enemy Gunpla every time they don't die from it. And be sure to equip a head with vulcan guns, those can and have saved players from death, and wasting time. The Gundam X and DX backpacks both have Satellite Cannons, which can smash parts right off Gunpla without dealing one-shot damage. And finally, equip a pair of legs with Kicking Knee, Xiphas Rail Cannons, or stun-based skills like so, these have high break power, and can complement a farming build centered around stunning and busting up targets. I also recommend equipping a shield with Guard Rush, as they can be used to quickly dash around the map without being stopped. If you can't pick a torso with a high thrust capacity, you can balance it out in the Balanced Frame by equipping "Thrust Capacity Up" in the Frame Skills. In terms of ranged weapon, depending on the mission I equip a Beam Rifle with a Machine Gun fire, or a regular beam rifle. For a melee weapon, lances and heavy swords are adequate. You can compensate for the fixed stats by using the passive frame skills you unlock from completing missions. Though, these skills will require grinding as they have a level system. But these frame skills do have impact. I've actually managed to make good-looking and stats-good builds, it just takes a creative spark to make your Gunpla look good and perform good. -the same can't be said for the Railgun, Beam Smartgun, GN Snipers, and Sixmagiss Rifle tho- Another issue you may not have brought up-possibly due to not having compared both games-Is the optional Builder Parts system. A big complaint most players who've played Gundam Breaker 3 have is that, because this game's mechanic is to swap out parts you pick up, the Builder Parts are totally for visuals alone, and are utterly useless. Me personally? I despise the AI. Because the start of every mission isn't just a quest to find crates for XP, but a challenge to not die as literally the entire enemy team targets you specifically, and will ignore everything else until either they get bored, die, or kill you. The final boss in every story mission is the exact same way, except, this issue is carried over in the entire enemy team during the second phase, which...Really pisses me off, frankly. The final boss will hound you, and not leave you alone regardless of if you provoked him or not, he will randomly target you and chase you all over until you crush him, only from him to immediately get right back to it when he respawns. What makes this even more infuriating while fighting Sena and Sakaki is that both of these bosses are equipped with bazookas, and are more than happy to spam-fire them with zero strategy to juggle you in the air and hound you until you KO them as well, and when you defeat the Mobile Armor in their missions, they will immediately come after you, making it hard to complete quests without killing them, and as a result, finishing the mission as beating them ONCE is the main quest. Hope ah...Hope anyone reading this finds it useful, this is all from my own experience with the game

Having both games, I can say that GB3 is vastly superior in terms of customization, gameplay, and parts farming. The huge downside are maps and lack of gunpla compared to NGB (for obvious reasons). With that said, I don't dislike NGB but the devs made some pretty interesting choices, that's for sure. And I liked this video because it was actually what got me to go back to it. 👌

The last good Gundam game was Battle Assault 2. I'm literally so tired and frustrated of these failure games that I'm pretty much ready to cry.

Thanks for the review! It certainly helped me to decide whether to give this game game a try, under a huge discount of course. Been playing it for 6 hours now and despite the tedius nature of having to grind and look for specific parts during missions, the game is pretty fun. I might be in the minority to prefer the default crate lock-on just to be able to shoot them from afar...especially in that one mission where one of the student council can beam spam combo you twice in a row.

This is exactly how I found new Gundam breaker lmao, now I have Gundam breaker 3 and having a much better time.

sadly, if you compare EVERY- SINGLE- FEATURE of this game to GB3 and GB3 completely WRECKS this game to the floor.

Your videos convinced me to choose Breaker 3 over NGB. I’m glad I did that. Even if GB3 is the Japanese only version of the import. Urk. Having a lot more fun with GB3 on Vita over NGB on PC. Ended up refunding and returning NGB.

I heard from a gunpla fan group, the devs of New Gundam Breaker was different from the Gundam Breaker Trilogy and the new devs couldnt get the source code of the original game hence why the game was so different from the original. Dunno how true that is but I kinda get its different since it also runs on the Unreal Engine now.

Pretty sure the player character is just Paptimus Scirocco but as a high schooler.

I actually played New Gundam Breaker first, then went back and saw how awesome Gundam Breaker 3 is. Some of the stuff you can do is crazy, especially as someone with only passing familiarity with most of Gundam. I'll pick up a random piece of gear and it turns out to have an optional weapon with a unique moveset, I love it

So I manage to get the game... bought it too and it doesn't work... The game crashes on me on start menu or writing a name and pff. I use a AMD a8 4500m APU with radeon HD graphics 1.90ghz. I don't know if it's my laptop that sucks, the game or something else. Any help would work out for me.

Would the lock system be better if it was something like this instead: You lock on to an enemy and in very quickly centers to the screen You change your target by moving a cursor at the center of the screen, of the cursor leaves the large targety circle thingy and the center, it changes to a target at relatively the same angle as the cursor left the circle. I mean, if your target if A, and you want to change your target to B, which is to the left of A, just move the cursor to leave the circle at the left, and it changes to target B.

Is it too much to ask for Gundam Breaker 3 with the Plot intricacies of the TV shows... I like the gunpla aspect as a novelty but if they could make a more serious story I'd be ok with that. Like if there were interspatial Corporations selling Gundam's to the Highest bidder and there were intergalactic consequences for that so you and your team have to deal with these different factions and your team is the only one thats skilled enough to modify Gundam's as if they were Gunpla. They could even ship them via oversized boxes as a meme.

Yeah, you should probably check out M.A.S.S. Builder. It may be in Early Access, and has a perhaps smaller, less official budget, but damn, it's not half bad at what it wants to do.

I just picked up the game for $7, figured if I don't enjoy it I didn't loose much!

After playing this and GB3 I have to say GB3 is way better because of so many things but the very few things I like about NGB is definitely the customization and the story even though I basically just skip it now but I do like the fact of multiple endings

TBH, New Gundam Breaker is good on its own. But if you like me where a player from Gundam Breaker, Gundam Breaker 2, and Gundam Breaker 3, this thing was a joke. The one that really makes me frustrated is the lock-on system. It feels so clunky AF. Why don't they just make another Dynasty Warrior Gundam like before? Shit...

Well gb3 is the best gb so far like you freely customize your gunpla you can build it as free as you want and the skill can be pickup despite thw part you use and many stuff more but this one particular feature is the reason why gb3 is the best for me atleast

oh god man. please never blast loud freaking audio way above the level you have balanced your voice audio at. Some of us either watch videos using headphones (not me) or watch on a tv at a time when others in the house are asleep and end up waking up to a loud, distorted scream from the tv that was completely out of place.

Another big problem with this game... the parts don't matter! Most have identical stats! and those that don't just have a little up and down here and there. It's just... no.

Breaker 3 is the best one of the series by far.

I made the mistake of pre-ordering this game. To this day I still feel cheated.

I bought new gundam because I've always loved the way mecha models look, but lack the skill and motivation to create my own. For fifteen bucks used at gamestop, I get to play around and kitbash to my heart's content. The game sucks, the story sucks (Iori is by far my favorite), and dear god yes the camera sucks, but for the low entry point nowadays I'd say it should be played as a gunpla simulator and nothing more. By the way, I found out after over a dozen hours of play that you can turn off autolocking to containers. It's not much, but at least you now know when you lock on to something it'll definitely be an enemy.

Does this game have the several difficulties that GB3 had? If so, the parts that drop from those difficulties will sell way better and make getting 100k pretty easy. I never bought kits in GB3 though.

3 years ago, it became good?? There is no way they switched back to GB3 engine and removed the unholy way to collect parts..... GB3 is the one and only, proper fast-paced "dynasty warriors" esque Gundam/pla game. There is no way to die and fail the mission either....
