If Halo 2 (in an alternate timeline) managed to be made in its full original vision, then it would've gone down in history as a mythical-level game on par with (if not even more popular/bloved than) Half-Life 2.
One of the most grounded, great things about Halo:CE is that the Chief more or less went under the radar the entire game, the Covenant did not take him seriously, especially when the Flood turned up. So changing the story and making the Chief encounter the Prophet and upper hierarchy of the Covenant's command structure would fly in the face of that, so I'd prefer if they kept things accurate and focused on the original mission structure, reused levels and all. I would however like to see "First Strike" adapted, help bridge H1/2 and give us some quality time with Sgt Johnson.
"I would however like to see "First Strike" adapted, help bridge H1/2 and give us some quality time with Sgt Johnson." YES, that entire book could have at least been another 2-3 part mission or game in its own right and arguably should have came right after Reach released to introduce core characters like Blue Team, maybe showing a flashback of what Chief was doing during the Fall of Reach while searching Halo's debris field. This here is a proper application of lore to build a new product, going back and showing players why a lot of off-screen characters are important to Chief, who they never see in games until much later. It helped expand on Cortana's abilities as an AI in-universe too and also brought the guerrilla elements a lot of newer aged players tend to like taking place in a Covenant space port city, Unyielding Hierophant really introduced fans to the huge scale of the Covenant's forces around the galaxy being an almost 17 miles long station.
I don’t want them to change the story. They could add extra stuff that was in the book, new weapons, and new enemies but I don’t want this to be a reboot.
Honestly a reboot could be good, IF AND ONLY IF, it's done right. Imagine if we get remakes of the original bungie trilogy with updated faithful graphics, cut missions, ideas etc halo 3 with flood ship and guardian forest would be wicked
@@goldenmajora3 Imagine if 343 made a new game of their own that was actually good and not just leech off original trilogy lol. All those cut ideas you mention can just as easily be implemented into a new entry or spin off.
@@goldenmajora3I really want that mega-war mode they originally had. Halo 3 is the closest bungie cpuld make it and 343 attempted it with warzone. If they just push the envelope I think we could all have the odst-drop-spartan lead wars we want to finally see
I'd love it if they added Bungie's original intent for the Mission Keyes and give Chief a flamethrower that he uses to burn out the proto gravemind and have to carry Keyes' skull to the end of the mission.
the only thing I truly want added to CE is literally a single extra "bonus" mission that just puts you in the POV of Srgt. Johnson while The Maw level is happening... where you're tasked with getting the fk off Installation 04 with a random assortment of straggling Marines before the giant space donut blows up.
You might be an action game kinda guy but look into some dungeon crawlers like etrian odysee and shiren the wanderer. Particularly shiren. Mystery dungeon style games are peak when it comes to turnbased games imo, and there is a lot to fool around with.
I mean. The lava area makes perfect sense to me. Wouldn't the forerunners have fail safes built into the halos. I mean. Flood breach containment due to the covenant breaking in and unleashing it accidentally. ↓ Forerunner fail safes trip causing access routes to be blocked and slips space travel shut down from that installation and nearby forerunner outposts and ships in fear of the flood obtaining it along its way. Ultimately routing the flood to go back the way the covenant came in if the covenant wasn't able to beat the flood back. Well the intruders or enforcer's releases the flood. One intentionally. The other, potentially. The forerunners knew the potential of life reseeding the galaxy in their absence. While humanity and the covenant may evolve and interact beyond expectations or anticipation. As well as below expectations and anticipations. While the forerunners themselves just don't have the time in the face of danger to implement a solution for the flood. So they made a solution to give them that time. The halos. While shield worlds work like an Omni tool. Good for many applications. Usually not the best at any application. Besides being the best in the application of many applications. Hence. The difficulty with trying to define "what is a shield world exactly" Just depends. Earth. In the halo universe is an exo shield planet. Where the majority of shield planets retain their inhabitants behind a barrier such as a metal construct made encasing the inhabitants home world. And then eventually expanding to the surface. Cough cough the covenant. Humanity hade a exo shield world Wich has everything ancient human cataloged and Ready to be copied and made in real space. In the event of a complete catastrophe. And when humanity does grow enough. These storage of ancient human archetypes those obelisk things found in halo infinite containing the creatures the forerunners attempted to reinstate their position in the galaxy. I'd like to call them archetypes. Because that is what they are. Hence the glaring difficulty with humanity and how their civilization had to be treated in a unique manner to others. An archetype is a start for us. When we start getting stuck in one archetype or another. We get very defiant. Well with ourselves. Others can get caught in the crossfire. But ultimately it's the human body itself that goes. I don't know if I like being that predictable. Can we change that. Before proceeding to change it. Hence the precaution of the case we get aniliated. Is simply start from square one. While forerunners and the covenant are compatible. Humanity and the primordials are compatible. Hence the odd exchanges. While yes the majority of ancient humanity was integrated into the inner workings of forerunner society. With seldom few being on the surface level. The sand falling and revealing the ancient humans composed to make the archetypes current humanity was used to begin by the forerunners.
I'm just picturing the Warthog run in a Forerunner structure aesthetic, but maintaining all the same structural design shapes and it makes so much more sense. All the weird dips and ramps and elevated areas/platforms that make no realistic sense make way, way more sense if it's a Forerunner megastructures. Especially the chasm, you'd have been moving from one building to the next, potentially driving across a light bridge.
I think they should make a game that starts right where chief left off in CE; in a longsword after destroying 04. That segment of Halo is hands down the best. Not only does it fill the gap between 1 and 2 just by existing- but our boy chief goes back to REACH. Imagine after playing the first couple missions 1:1 to the book, finding Linda in her pod and linking up with johnson and the other few survivors in their pelican, boarding action on the cove vessel etc, then arriving on reach. Imagine we'd get the end of 04, the return to reach, the intro of the other surviving Spartans on Reach, then they flee and go blow up the Covenant battle station and cripple their fleet temporarily; in H2 Hood Even says "mHmMhm sOmeThinGs nOt rIghT thE flEet tHat dEstRoyeD reAch wAs 50 tImeS thIs sIZe" its ok hood was old he probably had Alzheimer's and forgot that chief was already busy clapping alien cheeks
I think Bungie told the story they wanted to tell from CE-3 and later reach. adding anything with a "remake" would stain that legacy. 345 should just focus on the next game and make sure they ship a full game
@@George-iq3gfhe’s saying they used most of these ideas in their other games, so they don’t need to rehash them in a reboot. Do you really trust 343 to reboot after they came up with the silver timeline?
Ive been listening to the Halo audio books. They are all written very good and have very good character development and story telling. The games tell the story as good as they could, if they do a remake of CE and other games I'd love to see more cannon from the books put into it. Its criminal how bad the TV show is compared to the lore the video games and books have.
Honestly, if they are indeed thinking or remaking CE, I hope it’s like this bc it’ll give it a purpose, to make just a more beautiful Halo CE I think would be resources better spent on doing something new.
"The Halo lore is so deep and full of amazing story and characters. What shall we do for the new Halo game?" "..... let's change the Combat Evolved story"
Alongside this remake of Halo I have one need from it 343 NEEDS to bring back Blue Studio for the cutscenes I remember seeing the monument of sins in H2A and he looked so menacing Blur is absolutely amazing
I want a lore accurate halo game. U take 4 direct plasma shota and ur dead but u move fast as shit with bullet time and make plasma impacts do procedural environmental damage and gore damage. The books made the covenant feel less of a threat and more like an unstoppable force. THATS the kind of theme we need in these games going forward. Impossible odds with actual stakes
I wonder how that would translate to the novel. At this point in time I wouldn't be surprised if they retcon or alter a good chunk of the original to retell the story with these potential changes in a remake.
I've been saying this since the original announcement. The only way they can do a fully fledged remake is if they adhere closely to Bunjie's original ideas. HCE's & H2's original stories as full games the way they were originally intended could be so massive that we wouldn't even need another H3. If the *NEW* 343i can pull this off without MicroShaft stepping in/on everything, then Halo really can be on top of the world again. I have high expectations and little hope. I'm expecting it to fail. If it succeeds, this will be gaming development's greatest underdog story ever... Of all time.
Can someone please tell me why it seems like nearly everything nowadays needs a sequel or needs to be remade?? I’m so mentally tired of seeing so many things I grew up with end up being ruined.
I honestly don't want too many changes. Adding in a Prophet is fine, but stuff like glassing the swamps in 343 Guilty Spark and having Marines appear in The Maw would ruin the oppressive atmosphere that the original had. Hell, you can even have The Arbiter WANT to glass the swamps, but have the Prophet stop him in fear that it would harm Halo, since at this point, they know so little about it.
It’s cool this stuff was found! But there’s a reason it was cut, and I really feel like adding things to Halo CE’s story is gonna bloat and very cut and clean game
@TwistedNate They have been exploiting the goodwill and hope of the fans for more than ten years, has not put out a single good game, and go out of their way to show contempt and erase Bungie's legacy. It's not even a military sci-fi anymore but a drama. I was done after Halo 4 and won't buy anything with the 343i name. Frankie, Kiki, Bonnie gone is still not good enough.
@@theia1653 Yes. They all are mediocre and incapable. No matter what they do, they can't make a good game because of their mediocre skill. Halo devs and the team at the time of Bungie were very creative and skillful. 343 industries is the most worthless and soulless organisation in the gaming community.
Are you sure we're not over exaggerating the news of a remake. Are you sure they just didn't remake a level from Halo Ce in unreal as a tech demo to show Microsoft what they can do with the engine for the next game.
I like the idea of adding enemies and even slight retelling/adding of missions, but killing a prophet should be reserved for halo 2, as doing that in CE would steal some of halo 2s thunder, which would be unnecessary and make the overall trilogy feel about clunky.
While a lot of good ideas may have been left on the cutting room floor, Halo: CE is a masterpiece and shouldn't be tampered with lightly. Overall I think the plot and structure should remain the same, but aside from a graphical update a few tweaks could work. 1. Incorporating a prophet's broadcast into Keyes' rescue mission is a seamless way to introduce the same information to the player and would tie in with Halo 2 - this might take 30s of in game time but I'm down for it. 2. The Library could use a rework - it's a monotonous grind. Either shorten the level, or add in better signposting to make navigation/progression feel more satisfying, and MAYBE add a Flood Juggernaut or some exciting boss form towards the end to mix up the gameplay. Other than that, I'd actually be down for parallel campaigns - why not have 1-3 levels from the perspective of the ODSTs or the Elites? Frankly, as a big fan of ODST and Halo 2 I'd be super hyped to have new playable characters again with different abilities and perspectives than a Spartan. You could incorporate elements from the Flood (with Major DeSilva and Lt. McKay) or from Fireteam Raven into a few ODST-centric levels where the player takes control of a different character. I'd also be super excited to see Shipmaster's encounter with the Flood - the infestation of the Infinite Succor and the infection of the Minister of Etiology were really cool concepts and we could have said infected Prophet assassinated by COVENANT forces to mix things up. These could be incorporated in between the Original Campaign missions a la Halo 2 (the gap between 343 and Guilty Spark after Chief is teleported away would be a natural place to put some filler of other, less powerful UNSC infantry dealing with the Flood, and could reinforce how dangerous they are) or be bonus content selectable in the main menu. The latter would be easier since you don't have to interweave it into the larger narrative, but the former has its advantages. Off the cuff, I'd probably interweave the ODST levels beween Chief's but leave the Covenant levels as unlockable post-game content. After you beat Chief's story you get to play Shipmasters'. I'd also love to see more Arbiter, but I think much of that should be restricted to terminals or other bonus content - have Supreme Commander Vadam issue orders to his troops in radio transmissions the player can intercept, or have the terminals display the developments of the campaign from his perspective (joy at finally discovering Halo, irritation open Keyes' escape, horror at the outbreak of the flood, despair after the destruction of the ring). Maybe even have him debrief Rtas after his narrow escape from the Flood in the final cutscene of Shipmaster's subcampaign. I know Elites like to lead from the front, but at this point Arbiter is supervising the entire fleet, he can't be in the thick of every major firefight - especially if he could be compromised by the Flood.
as long as its called halo THERE IS NO ORIGINAL HALO STORY, cuz halo was made by a different studio, if 343 wanna do something original let them try and im sure that would go better than whatever these attempts of reviving the franchise are
Anyone think 343 is gonna fuck this up by adding advanced movement to the game? So far they couldn’t help themselves. I really don’t want this to basically be halo infinite: combat evolved
OG Halo gameplay is severely dated and would be DOA. The advanced movement is a must if they actually want an audience outside of old gamers who want nostalgia.
I like how everyone a few weeks ago said that they shouldn't reboot halo... now they are REBOOTING no matter how they sell it, and everyone is fine... 😂
Nah this is bs.. how many times are you gonna resell halo 1... not buying that crap. I bought it several times already. And if it has no sprint, or equipment..I'm forsure not interested in a slow shooter..
Halo CE is such a great campaign already. I’d definitely like to see it get some love in a proper fully fleshed out remake. Resident Evil remakes have proven to me that we definitely can take an old 10/10 and make it a new 10/10.
I feel odd for really not wanting this CE remake. I fully think that either spin-offs or Infinite multiplayer or campaign DLC should be looked at first instead. A little worried the story and canon may change as it's sort of perfect already.
@@cadenday1336same - like when halo 5 came out people complained about the story - then halo infinite comes out their like wow it’s gone back to original graphics and the style of it / they should finish off the story - halo fans themselves don’t know what they want - that’s the problem - I don’t remotely care about art style I just want a fun game with lots of weaponen
@@majestic1294 halo infinite has made me realize how lucky we were to even have halo 5’s end product. Halo 5’s multiplayer actually HAD content. It had the most weapons of any halo game. It had a lot of the original game modes we had in previous games as well as some new and good additions such as break out (which was similar to cod’s gun fight, a lives based gamemode with a shotgun and pistol as staring weapons.) and it had warzone as well which was a unique and interesting twist on firefight and I’m not sure why neither of them didn’t come to halo infinite they were both great additions to the halo franchise. In Halo 5 you were ACTUALLY able to get all the armor without buying anything with the req system which the req system sucked but it was still better than 20 dollars for one armor set like in halo infinite. Halo 5 had assassinations and it had many different kinds of assassinations you could unlock which were all unique and cool finishers. I honestly think Halo 5 had one of the best infection game modes of all time. I would say the best halo infection is a toss up between halo 5 and the original halo reach infection (not the nerfed MCC Halo Reach Infection) It had a pretty decent custom games browser that people actually used unlike halo infinite where you’d be lucky if you even find anything on that custom games browser. Halo 5 by the end of its lifespan was actually a good game and this is coming from someone who was one of the people who shit talked the game. I’m so tired of these halo RU-vidrs dick sucking Halo Infinite and pretending like it’s a good game and it’s at a good spot now. It’s a terrible excuse of a halo game and just a game in general. And now people are talking about a Halo CE remake and getting excited about it? How about we make an actually good new halo game first and then worry about making something like that. Halo doesn’t need a reboot, what it needs is a game that’s actually made with love and care, a game that 343 actually wants to make. Everytime I play halo infinite I can’t help but to think that 343 didn’t even want to make the game. If 343 doesn’t want to make a halo game then that’s fine. Give the franchise to a company who does. I hate being negative about Halo but fuck it’s exhausting being a halo fan. Almost embarrassing tbh. At least Call Of Duty fans get the same game every year. We can’t even get that.
I normally don't do this but I appreciate all of yous buttin in your thoughts. Also comin from a person who's enjoyed 343 content for the most part, I love Halo 4, right behind 3.
If it's the original game plus cut content, I'm all for it. If it's a complete remake with a different story, I'm not excited. Would rather them spend the time on a new story.
It’d be cool if there was different ways to get to the same goal in the CE Remake, making it possible to do parts of this alternate story. Like an optional mission to go kill the prophet, making the covies more aggressive though out the campaign, and making it so the Jungle on Guilty Spark could be glassed if they are more aggressive. I also like the idea of have a “golden path/ yellow brick road” to go through the game in the cannon way, but you can make your own personal choices to the events on the ring since the people you can kill end up dead at the end of the story anyways.
It's not all cut due to time constraints. A lot of it can also be due to the over all story, vision and gameplay. Personally I feel if it was cut, it was cut for good reason and should stay that way. If a scrapped idea is good enough it usually comes back in some form or shape in a future game.
I wonder if Bungie and Microsoft will work together and put all this in and for it be a re-release of the original and use the unreal engine 5 to do it all. Have a big halo event and called the anniversary edition of the original Halo combat evolved.
I forget who posted it, but they basically were showing how 343 has a “no bungie” policy and they didn’t even want any help besides marketing. ( not by bungie but by the original people that were working on the game)
It will work and be great if 343 follows the original story and just implements the cut content exactly as is. (What Bungie originally intended for Halo CE) If they try to make a whole new story or anything that contradicts with Halo: CE, it will be a disaster.
I fee like a safer bet would be to remaster Halo 3, it will be the 20th anniversary in 2027, they can make that deadline. the marketing will be "finish the fight...again". lol
I would love this. Maybe I'm just old and cynical, but at this point, I'd rather have a good game remade and polished with new tech over rebooting a game and watching as a product attempts to cash in on name brand loyalty and then proceed to crash.
A good rule of thumb is to underpromise and then to over deliver. Since we’re talking about 343, unfortunately it’ll most likely be the opposite. But the shop will be perfect. 😂
I'm gonna be honest, I don't really think we NEED more missions...maybe like an extra level and some exposition sure...but I'm more concerned about the sandbox
If they remake Halo CE I would want the story to remain largely the same but elements that became more important in halo 2 and 3 could be introduced in the remake. So yes have Keys learn about Halo from a broad cast but don't assassinate a prophet. Have a proto grave mind and other flood forms. Have brutes but not honor brutes. So on and so forth.
I can understand why some Halo fans don’t want these new story additions or changes to come with the hypothetical CE remake, but in all honesty it really would be a wasted opportunity if they weren’t included even if they’d turn out as optional side missions. Hell, going by what Mint says here the story structure wouldn’t change super drastically to the point it’d be a totally different story. Again, look at the DS and RE4 remakes. They made some changes, very noticeable, but they still had the relatively same story.
4:35 Oh my god the spy kids 3 reference is gold, for those who don’t know, in Spy Kids 3, Juni, the main character, is standing over a giant river of lava, and says, “why is it that every video game has lava in it?” And another character responds, “technically that’s not true, there’s no lava in Halo.”
I think it'd be cool to see what they could do with that story, but I don't see them deviating that hard from the original. I bet they'll play it safe and add a few new elements to test the water before potentially changing larger plotpoints for future remakes
I hope they'd leave this stuff out. Constraints and the cutting room floor are not a bad thing. I like CE for its pacing, and that its focus is more on the mission than the explanation. We don't need to see prophets yet or understand the covenant hierarchy after game 1, these things develop over the series. Many of the better ideas return later when they make more sense, ans especially killing a prophet in game 1 just ruins so much imo
