A mother of two children with disabilities in Concord, California channels her frustration with people taking disabled parking spaces in a possitive way. Her idea is turned into a new California law by Assemblymember Mark DeSaulnier.
Just imagine what that poor woman goes through to get those beautiful babies ready to go out. Then she does all the heavy lifting for the day alone. Only to find that some selfish, cruel black-heart has ruined her ability to use the lift on her van or be locked out of it because they parked in the striped zone...or left their carts in it. I wish they would be immediately towed and jailed when they go for their vehicles.
There is an App for smart phones that lets any citizen report accessible parking violators. It is called Parking Mobility. Some cities and states use it also to actually mail out citations with fines to the violators.
I live in Haleyville Alabama Hazel park in handicap if I say something to him I tell you to mind your own business and you call the law here in Haleyville they're always out on a call or sitting at a restaurant eating or something I never want to get involved with it we have no law here at Western County nearest nothing for law enforcement I've ever seen in my life
Besides people using handicap parking that aren't handicapped. There needs to be a verification process to prove people are truly handicapped and not using the old "I've got a bad back" excuse. I know Oklahoma has an application you can get on their DMV web-site but they don't verify Doctor's signatures.
Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let the tickets get them where it hurts the most!! in their wallet or purse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that will serve as a very expensive lesson to those idiots that abuse this and think they are above the law and everyone else for that matter!!
EXCELLENT VIDEO! Way to go! I park my Chevy Suburban right behind the law breakers and TRAP them in, and will get out and say i will be only a minute, then I call the police and report them for parking like that, REMEMBER the STORE/COMPANY the parking lot is for can call the cops for you also. Ability on TV AbiliTV
Please don't forget the cross stich lines not only does wheelchairs need them also us that nwear full leg braces KAFO"s. We have to have the door all the extended just to get our legs out wearing them because we can not fully bend our knees like regular people. So people that complain that we dont use a wheelchair in these zones have not watched how we struggle to get out of a tight spot while we protect the next car beside up by putting our hand on the door between the car
I wonder if anyone has considered painting the zebra striped areas blue. Nobody but legal blue spot users can use them, so why not? I have a wheelchair van and am constantly frustrated to find the zebra zone choked with abandoned shopping carts and with motorcycles. I can't exit my van to move them because I can't exit my van. That leaves me with three choices - Park in a blue spot farther from where I'm shopping; or park in a blue spot and wait until I can get help from a store employee; or take my business to a store that attracts a better class of shoppers.
More like just park in the driveway. In most places you can't even fine a blue spot because there are too many people with permits. Mosst of them are bogus.
I noticed is a lot of police officers who doesn't have nothing to do, because when any other officer stops any citizen for any reason you can see 3 even 4 police cars behind. And what's that means? They don't have nothing to do, why they are not going to any parking lost and force the law? Not with $250 how but starting with $1000? If we tolerate $250 they are going to continue. No body wants to pay $1000 for parking...
Great, add more costs to the business for people that ignore the signs anyway and then get a judge that will not enforce the law anyway. Everyone knows they aren't allowed to park on cross hatching lines. How about just ticketing for already illegally parking? And make it stick. People always asking for more signs. I think Jeff Foxworthy said it best.
I keep saying that parking and moving violations need to be based on the value of the vehicles that the drivers are operating. That way some poor hard working inconsiderate fool does not get saddled with a fine that could be worth a months wages while driving his $1,000 clunker. While some filthy rich inconsiderate fools make the same violations, but get the same fine that’s pocket change to!!!!
Yeah this is an old vid….but nothing has chg’d!!! We need enforcement! I know this is low priority for LE but they should use civilian code enforcement. My town (Pensacola, FL) is insane w/misuse of handicap parking but when I recently contacted our parking authority to VOLUNTEER my services they said “no thx”! You’d think they’d appreciate the added revenue! I don’t get it (& yes I am disabled w/a placard that doesn’t do me any good because of lazy able bodied lawbreakers!)
The problem is that Handicapped permits are given away like candy. For example, you can get a handicapped permit simply for being old, fat, or black. All you have to do is mention ANY disability (a toothache for example) and BING here's your permit. If you are black, no disability is required at all. You simply are given one for asking. The law needs to be changed so MONUMENTAL effort is required to get a permit as well as getting one renewed.
Here in europe you need a letter of proof from your doctor for a permit plus am independent doctor will investigate you again and call the doctor as a double check if you are qualified or not for a disabled permit.
@@nihonkokusai Indeed. It's a very complicated system here in Poland as an example. After the first doctor fills out the form for the permit, you must go and get medically examined or whatever by a government doctor.
MrTurbochargd You are a Racist idiot. You need a letter from a Physician to get a permit. The issue here is idiots, much like yourself, who encroach (crowd into) the area needed for van ramps.
If they don't want anyone 2 park there then move those spots further away from the building, preferably way in the back, then no one will park there, cuse it's 2 far 2 walk, and ppl are in a hurry, problem solved.
Creating "wheelchair user only" spaces, with specially colored placards, plates and signs would make a difference. It's a better use of space and it's pretty obvious when the spot is being abused.
@@Tat2Dragons you guys are right! There aren't as many wheelchair users, which means a walmart for instance might only need three wide wheelchair vehicle only spots. They could then have all the ambulatory disabled spots be the same width as all other spots in the lot. Just a thought!!!
@@singjeffsing There’s not enough spaces to warrant limiting their use to just those people with specific disabilities that require them to use a wheelchair. The larger spaces are also of great help to those who use other mobility devices to get around.
