I just finished filling mine up. Love it. Was on order for 2 weeks. I have been waiting for two of the matching 22” side lockers for almost 6 weeks. They said it could be June before I see them.

Just because the car uses sae size bolts doesn’t mean you have to use sae bolt extractor. The trick is to use the one that fits tightest (which can be a metric size), and tap it in for the teeth to grab the nut/bolt head. Then use a breaker bar because you’ll end up rounding the bolt extractor (like you did) or the nut/bolt head if you use too much power like the impact driver.

Nice. You gotta put an XC battery on the m12 impact for max power. The US made rocket sockets are supposed to be some of the best ones.

I have the Gearwrench set and they've been great. Catus maxumus did a video on these, and the pittsburgh seem to have better teeth.

After the first time I used extractor sockets (2 days of hell) I put them on my passenger side seat and smiled at them everyday for about two weeks commuting two and from work life savers!

Astro Tools extractor sockets are shaped like that. I have all of Astro’s. Plus they have a combination extractor wrench set that has that same design in the box end. They work!

I used a cheap set on amazon to back out the one way carriage bolt on security doors and they work good! They did break the teeth so might pick up a quinn set next.

If you can't extract a bolt with the extractor sockets. An old trick you can use with a broken fastener. If you have enough area of the broken bolt left to work with. You can weld another nut on top of the stripped or broken bolt. Grab the correct size ratchet or wrench to match the bolt you just welded on your damaged fastener and remove easily. Repeat as necessary. Love your channel guys. I bought the Quinn metric sockets in foam after I saw your video.

I don't know if you guys watch Project Farms test videos. But he did a video a few years ago testing various bolt extractors like these. One of the best sets he tested that weren't crazy expensive were the Rocket Sockets. I've been wanting a set ever since, sadly I never managed to buy one.

When you were having trouble with the bolt on the right side I was hoping you guys had a caliper to put on it to see what size it was. Could've been metric or just a severely degraded SAE that is seized. I appreciate the video. I hope Harbor Freight replaced the 2 striped extractors for you.

I have the PITTSBURGH PRO chrome color. They are not vanadium, they are cro-moly. Used one of the smallest sizes, since you tap it in with a hammer I went one mm sizing down so the teeth would bite.

When you get those types of sockets always get sae and metric alot of times when the bolts are rusted or stripped they fall between sizes

Pretty much all of the Quinn stuff comes with a lifetime warranty, so that shouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't worry too much about the hardness of the steel, what they use in impact sockets is meant to be a bit softer and more malleable. I cringe when I see people put chrome on an impact tool, which you didn't do but there is a reason they're different.. Beat on it with a hammer, beat on it with an impact and that's not considered abuse because that's what they're made for. It could be that the one you were having so much problem with just needed a metric socket. They certainly look like a step up from my normal approach which is to clamp on vise grips and use a sledge hammer to persuade it loose after soaking the hell out of it with blaster..

They wont work on every bolt you need the metric set too so you can get the socket that fits best.Bolt size means nothing...its rusted beyond its original size.Guaranteed the metric set will have the socket you need.

The problem is that it’s made from Chrome Molybdenum instead of chrome vanadium, Even their Pittsburgh ones are made from Chrome Molybdenum. I could get way too into the discussion. but the fact of the matter is that this is exactly what’s going to keep in happening to the HarborFreight extractor set, especially with an impact.
