Just to confirm yes episode 144 is the first episode of the Jaya arc which is part of Skypeia saga. Technically the scene of the falling ship in 143 is the first real moment of the new arc and saga

The falling ship is actually the beginning of the next real arc. Its also the last scene of the infamous 4Kids one piece dub as 4kids was in financial trouble at the time and their one piece dub was a complete train wreck so they cut it and the company went under shortly after. This is also why there is a large difference in the number of episodes for the sub and the dub. The implication of ending it on that scene is that the straw hats died there which is very dark for 4kids.

@@GiraffeReactionsZone there was so much censorship. Sanji's cigarettes where replaced by lollipops. All guns became finger guns or water pistols. Imagine the marines running at you with super soakers. Zoro made constant dad jokes and really unfunny ones at that. The scene at arlong park where nami acts like she stabs usopp is changed to her telling usopp its just a rubber knife right before she stabs him own hand with it which takes all the tension out of that scene. Bellemere wasnt killed but just "imprisoned" although we still never saw her again. The arc Little Garden was completely cut from the 4kids dub so no dorry and broggy which would have led to massive problems down the line. Also they never met the whale Laboon and that too would have become important around episode 350 or smt like that. Its just a constant string of failures

@@DorianTheReaper Wow, that sounds like a huge letdown! It’s crazy how much they altered the original story. Those changes really diminish the tension and character development. It’s wild to think that characters like Laboon and Dorry & Broggy were completely cut!
