Your channel is one of the channels I used to help me create an emergency kit. Just wanted to tell you thanks, I live in Puerto Rico and during the earthquakes I was able to do everything I needed for a family of 6 with 4 backpacks including the food, which lasted us weeks. All thanks to all the small but helpful items you show here. If you ever wondered if your channel makes a difference, it has. We have 4 kids and they were ok during the scariest time of their lives because we were prepared and they felt safe.
Yaria Samavan Carlan thank you very much, your kind words mean a lot to us and I’m glad we are able to help, and glad you and your loved ones are safe.
Great video James and Cuervo. I have seen this pack on Malcolm's site and read the dimensions, but it really helps to see it in action. It looks like it would have 100's of good uses.
Fucking hell yeah man, the environment and camping site is perfect. Your background in all these shots make me jealous. Cuervo's music in the background, perfect.
I use linen bags with drawstrings to store my cook wear, it helps keep the inside of your pack clean and you can wax treat them to make them water resistant 👍😁
I love the production on these videos, especially the music. Well done. I really went back and forth on whether to get a Hidden Woodsmen or the Raging River haversack. It was a tough decision but I went with the Raging River. But I hope to get the new Forrest Ruck from Hidden Woodsmen for my birthday or Father's Day.
thank you very much, i think the music and the story at the intro meshed so well together. i am loving this bag, ill have to check out raging river stuff soon
Great looking sack, simplistic but nice, and packed nicely. Looks like a workhorse blade. Thanks for the look into your bag! I have some pinefire products too 😉👍🏼
I have an unused wwii army bag that is about that size and shape. It was used for carrying radio tubes on communication jeeps. Now i got a good idea for its use. Thanks.
You definitely are the first, I was looking for a review before I just went ahead and bought it about two weeks ago. Looks like a great pack should be getting mine soon! I was born in Ruidoso where were you in NM?
Dry cotton balls are excellent tinder! Cheap. Lightweight. Works everytime. What to take and what to leave is an age old problem. Check out what Ötzi the ice man had with him a long time ago! Sometimes what you have in pockets is important.
Thank you on info.Hidden Woodsman was a scary purchase,as I inv ested in a backpack. The quality was obvious upon receiving it,realized it would be able to pass on to grandkids and beyond, and never looked back.Ernie @ Paleo hiker is top of line, also,so,I would say good job, sir!
Greetings from Canada. I like the old school/simpler approach. Can I ask the price of the Hidden Woodsmen Haversack?...it is very similar to a Canadian Milsurp 1990 Respirator Bag I have. When I started outdoor adventures with my father our kit was very basic we didn't need all the superfluous junk that many people spend their hard earned money on today, Back then we got the job done and we still hold dear the memories of those early days. I agree that the fixed blade you carry could be useful as a food prep, eating utensil, or perhaps for gutting fish and small game, I have something similar but much older. Stay safe and keep enjoying the Great Outdoors!
Excellent load out James, that exodus knife is a awesome Jacob's doing good stuff. Townsend spices is a great touch👌 My favorite, Gary Paulson's Hatchet what a great book really liked that final touch.
Add a plastic grocery bag for dirty cook set.sew a loop and key ring inside to hook keys too.or easier tie a loop of cord around strap hang keys then drop inside.carry around awhile try ur own mods see what u can do with it.
Nice review ! Have had that little sack on my radar for some time . Looks like a nice addition to any outdoorsman’s quiver of gear . May have helped push me to get one
I remember that book/movie hatchet. That one, and My side of the Mountain (my favorite growing up) i had a kool 6th grade teacher.. As for the hidden woodsmen. Ive thought of attaching a d ring somewhere on the top under the flap to quick snap my keys/flashlight. Buckled down, it should keep them from jingling around. 😀👍
@@JunkyardFox i do with my friend and we survive ....he party in middle of the jungle .....surviving is piece of cake ........in my country i can get that bg for 10 dollar
Nice utility pack. Everything is so clean and unfrayed, the whole survival situation seems to be a recipe for product selection. Don't get me wrong I like watching these what's in my pack videos, but you can do all this setup for so cheap and smaller so you can carry it around all the time, living out of it for daily needs, it becomes second hand familiar and more dialed in useful when you deperatly need it
oh most definitely, i agree, one can keep things simple. i just wanted to show the bag and how much it can carry, people enjoy watching what other carry in their kit. plus its an excuse for us to go outdoors and have an adventure.
Great review, I am a new Hidden Woodsmen fan and I missed this bag when it came out. I saw one for sale on the secdary market but wasn't familiar with the bag. Now after seeing your review I going to try and get one. I absolutely love his new larger Havasack but sometimes you only need or want a smaller bag.
I own one of his 1st haversacks in OD green love it well made smaller than this one but I like it being a little smaller cause I use it with and OD full-size Duluth pack they look great together and when I want to go scouting around etc I can just bring the haversack and leave the large backpack back at camp. I am a small guy so I’m sure this would be a good bag to use like I use mine but with more gear and a heavier load which would be great if u can carry more like that day in and day out on who knows how many calories etc. It would also make a great get home bag for the trunk of your car especially if u work far from home it’s a great size for a 3 day get home pack.
That secondary knife is REALLY interesting. I will eagerly await your review on it. I’m thinking I need one. But I’ll wait for your expert opinion it. I can see where this haver sack would be practical. For me, an afternoon & evening of fishing on the Snake River. As ALWAYS. Great vid and review of ALL your gear. You should have 1 million PLUS subscribers! Thank your for your hard work. Great job!
Love the cinematography on your videos it always looks like the starting of large budget movie.. I been experimenting with different lens to get better results on my videos.. that M44 Haversack is really simple and nice am definitely going to order one.. I like that pocket spice ket is there a way you could send me a link to get one? Thank you..
Thank you very much, that means a lot to us. We strive to make every video as entertaining as it is informative, so cinematography is big to us. Here’s the link where I got mine: www.townsends.us/products/pocket-spice-psb20-p-1066
Hey bro i sorry if u got offended bout the manpurse thing this one wuz nicer i think cause u can wear it like a back pack i like ur snake eater knife nice! Like ur vids though and cuvero muzic is nice also👍
Hey man! Is paracord your favorite type of cordage? I have used paracord from day one in the outdoors, but I finally ordered bankline a few weeks ago and I'm really loving the way the bankline grips on itself. Are yoz using bankline as well?
Thank You! This matches what I've been looking for, for a couple of months now. A couple of minor possible suggestion/modifications. A lanyard and clip inside the main compartment, for your keys, small flashlight, or a knife. A closeable [coil zipper?] compartment/pocket on the inside of the flap, and maybe the flap a little longer, for more coverage down the front. Is the exterior waterproof/resistant?
malcolm always updates his designs yearly so im sure hell improve upon the bag with viewer feedback. the bag itself is made of 1000D cordura nylon so its water resistant although not fully waterproof
I like simplicity myself, I like frontier/vintage clothing and kit I used to buy all the newest gear then I just felt like it kinda took some of the fun out of things or looked to modern for my tastes.
i gotta say im still partial to my hidden woodsmen french trade bag that ive been using for years. its more worn and stained so im not as careful to not dirty it as this one lol plus sentimental value from years of adventures together. i alternate between this new one and the french trade bag.
Nice review James. It seems it holds more than I expected. Who was the guy and company that made your leather kangaroo pouch. Thanks for sharing this video.
Junkyard Fox thanks James I found Al on Instagram and his Etsy store. I have another question. What color is the M44 bag is it one color or two. Thank you
Nice haversack, did you ever see the movie "Hatchet" ? If you haven't, it is a very good movie. Sometimes the book is better than the movie. Ray, Oklahoma
