I like them both tbh I think they both look great the new body took some time for me to like but know it looks great but would still prefer the old Hilux you just can’t beat that 3.0L
I still like the old Hilux better, especially the legend. It looked strong and aggressive. The sound of the turbo whistling as you throttle with that nose on the bonnet made it a charmer.
+Kgadile “Eze” Masemola you can still hear the turbo wind with the new one too. i agree the air scoop on the front would have made it look aggressive on the new one.
After just picking up my 2016 hilux today i can say its a major improvement from driving it around the whole day. You do hear the turbo but its a subtle sound but the power mode and iMT makes up for it. As for the front. Its going to take a while to grow on me. Edit: My led park lights stopped working after i posted this😐
Now that the new Hilux is out it gives us 'poorer' okes a better chance of buying a good used previous generation Hilux like the Legend 45. I still feel there's much value in the older generation Hilux with it's proven reputation.
mattybwr Blombo its still cheap plastics until now the new 2020 hilux conquest top of the line model has a freaking cloth seats. Underpowered engine and still has a little safety feature doesnt have a diff lock etc..but its still nice.
Really prefer the old look it is just much better. In therms of new technologies, well I think it is far better to learn how to drive down the slopes instead trust on the electronics. It is more fun, it is enjoyable and rewarding when you've don it right!
My highlux invincible auto not used off road requires a new gearbox at 77 k miles after iv paid £1200 for 3 gearbox solenoids and didn’t work and it’s been serviced every year regardless
The older hilux looked more agressive and has a more traditional more desirable Toyota Facia...reminds me of Land Cruiser and it has an air of Internationality. The new hilux looks like the new Toyota lineup in the US. Take a look at the Rav4 and the Highlander, it looks like a close relative to those 2 vehicles. The facia looks too squished since the hood controls the contours of the headlights and the grill, and the older Hilux was the other way around design-wise.
I believe all these reviews and bought top of the range 3 year old (2013 model) low miles Hilux thinking these are bullet proof, tough truks until injectors gone at 65k miles Toyota asked for £3.5k to repair won't even contribute with £1..... although it had full service with Toyota main dealer ,then at 120k miles turbo gone £1600 and so on ......to many to list. .I have not abuse the vehicle .........................NOT IMPRESS in fact disappointed!
Craig D very hard to find petrol hilux in Uk / EU don’t think I have seen one yet you idiot 😁..got Land Rover discovery and defender now I’m happier than ever.....
Unfortunately water in fuel will do that mate, and it is expensive if it happens. I've filled mine from all sorts of stations and never had an issue, knock on wood. Mine has 230,000 on the clock, 2011 D4D, I rip it around town towing a trailer every day for work and would probably say engine is about 90/100 percent good still
my 2017 extra cab 2.4 with a single axel 10x5 with 1 foot sides trailer with logs on (not a heavy load) it would not pull a way on a very small incline had to go to low range and then stop and back to hi ok for pulling once it gets rolling my 2011 3.0 with the same trailer and load on the same incline pulled away with ease in hi range
Can't wait to get mine in autumn when having hunting license. Toyota grants big discounts in germany for members of hunting associations. Would be stupid not to buy one. Unfortunately not available in green.
I assume you're from Australia or Southafrica, right? In Germany Toyota is quite reserved when it comes to discounts. Except for the 17% off provided you're a hunter. Negotiating with Ford was bit easier. After some back and forth they offered 22% and pricing was pretty much the same than the Hilux after all. I think both cars would fit my requirements. In the end I decided for the Hilux. Let's see what happens.
***** I like them both but at one point I had to make a decision. Colleague of got himself a wildtrack with the 3.2L engine. He's happy with it claims the poor quality compared to his BMW. I don't know.
WHY IS YOUR INTERVIEWEE HOLDING BACK ON THE ANSWERS. HE SEEMS TO BE SAYING WITHOUT SPEAKING IT OUT THAT THE OLD BACKIE IS BETTER THAN THE NEW 1, LIKE THE FACE
I'm gunna drive my 2010 Hilux until she goes, hopefully by then I can finally afford a small chunk of a land cruiser hehe, probs be a long time from now
+RoofieTV I spoke to Toyota Austria, they estimate delivery times of up to 6 months and for now you can only get the smaller 2.4L engine. Would love the 2.8L with manual transmission, but nobody knows when or even if it will available with that engine in Austria. Maybe have to import from Russia...
same in germany, still only the 2.4 Diesel.... personally i would love the previous gen-facelift with the 4.0, probably impossible to get it on the street in the eu...
We are lucky in Australia, our hilux is a better ute than the SA model. As for the looks, I didn't like it at first but it has grown on me. I have become a fan, it's actually attractive in a strange way.
So strange - I know what the new hilux looks like (shame), but when you put the 2 together the older one looks like it is the newer one. Pitty to all Hilux owners - the engines might be new and have some promise, but to be honest the Hilux design departments need to be fired. Not really enough effort in the looks department, and no real effort to the 'stance' of the vehicle. This can be summed up when one looks at the side profile of the vehicle . . .eish.
Duo truk of different the specivication in charachter body stylist and perform of the machines but the same of logo....Toyota Hilux double cabn........
I'm haven noise in my gearbox but it work perfectly and when you press the clutch the noise stop when you relies your leg the noise come. so what should I do?
Mabutho Ndlovu hahaha mahindra is so much more ugly than the Hilux! Even I prefer the look of the old Hilux, the new still looks much better than a mahindra !
Why change a model and complete change an excelent engine.? Because people need to look the better and most recent car to show his money power. Don´t forget new refaction market when new models enter.
I have a vigo g grade nd it's a 2006 model with a 3.0 d4d. It's taken a lot of hits nd has had the oil packing changed due to really late oil changes but it runs like a charm.
