Zippo! I am 72 years old and I have my dad’s old zippo. I can still smell his pipe tobacco after hearing that familiar sound. Thanks for the happy memories.

MIKE, that 'sound'? Brings back a very teachable memory for me! At 4 years old, I remember being, intrigued how my Dad's Zippo worked while sitting on his lap, so he showed me! Well,... I could elaborate on the story but the good thing is my parents didn't have to call the Fire Department, but my butt was burnin for a few days and my parents weren't talking for a week. I'm 68 now, and still remember it clearly! That 'sound',... that smell of the Sunday paper burning,...that belt !!!

Wow, that sound... I knew it in an instant. My dad used a Zippo lighter exclusively. The sound and smell bring back so many memories of him and my childhood. Dad had quite a few of them his everyday trusted ol faithful, a real shiny one for Sundays, one for the holidays, one for special events. I have em all in a display case, except ol faithful, I carry it everyday. It's always fueled up and ready to go. So many times it has come in handy. Dad passed almost 15 years ago on May 18th, when I put it in my pocket each day, I say good morning Pop and every night I say good night when I place it in my valet tray on my dresser. I'm sure Zippo knows how much they are a part of the fabric of America for my generation, but I don't think they know how priceless they are as family heirlooms they have become. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Keep em comin, I'm rootin fer ya.

My dad was sales manager at Castle Rubber Co. Located in East Butler Pa. One of his best customers at the time was Zippo. Once a month or so he visited them to check on them. They supplied the little rubber gasket on the inside bottom. They gifted him with many special lighters over the years. He's been gone for 17 years now but we still have his fantastic collection of zips.

Another great video Mike, with my coffee this morning. Speaking of Zippo Lighters, I still have mine that I bought at the PX when in arrived in Korea in October 22, 1966. Even thought I was not a smoker then or now, I used the Zippo Lighter to light the Diesel Stove that we had in the Army Barracks and in the Orderly Room where I worked. I had my name put on my lighter on one side and 66 Korea 67 on the other side, to indicate the 13 months I was stationed overseas. On the bottom of the lighter is IIII Zippo IIII to tell when it was made meaning April 1966. It still works when I put lighter fuel in it.

Good morning to all, Ive traveled past the Zippo plant many times, but never had the chance to stop. I'm not a smoker, so owning one was not a big deal but i had a number of friends who had one and yes, they had a distinct sound. One I hadn't heard for years until your video😢😢. Thank you for that moment. I was hoping to see Eva "master" the sawmill while filming😂😂. Maybe next time!! That pine looked really nice. I made a couple of chimney cupboards out of white pine, a number of years ago for my wife and a niece. Stained Brenda's with a blue water stain with a clearcoat and my niece's with a red milk paint. The blue one looked quite nice, better than originally thought. Hope you'll dry some for a few furniture projects later on. The maple, selling it to a bigger mill is probably a good idea. Have a good day and you and Melissa should take Eva out to dinner while she's home on break. Enjoy your time together 😊😊

Eva each fall and spring break I worked on the farm and during the summer I worked running a baler in a man made fiber plant. With a pocket full of money, it was hard to go back to school. My Dad always said "you can work the rest of your life running the baler or go back to school" . My first job after finishing my college years and military duty, was in a mill as a part of management... SOOOO Eva if you do not wish to go back to school then always know you have a job "off bearing wood" LOL My opinion has changed over the years about degree's. Even though I have established a business and a music scholarship in my parents name and served on the alumni board, I am now to the point that learning a trade can be more valuable! Social growth living in a dorm was eye opening... take care and glad to see you home on your break, instead of in Florida on a beach.. Your parents and brother are a great example of how a dream can come true... REMEMBER a dream without a plan of action is only a wish! Happy Easter to all of you! Proud to see a family working together putting into a plan of action to reach their DREAMS!

They buldozed a giant Spalded Maple tree and were going to put it into thier burn pit. I talked to the construction company and asked if I could get that log. They said yes. I took it to a guy that sawed it into lumber, dried it and made it into tongue and groove flooring for me. I refin7she my living room or den with it. Absolutely Georgous Stuff. Please keep that log and make lumber out of it. You'll be amazed at the beauty. I also made a mantel over the fireplace with a thick slab. Mark

Just a tip Mike ,when cutting always stay on the open side of the log you are cutting Don't put yourself between the log and the stack .If that rolls you don't have many options to get out of the way . The open side you have an area to move out of the way . That is big and very heavy wood ,working by yourself always be careful. That could crush and trap you in a second.I don't want to see you get hurt. Worked in logging in northern Ontario and seen some accidents that I wish I didn't. Take the extra few seconds ,i'm sure you know all about how accidents can happen ,you were gas and oil, as well as heavy construction and blasting. Sometimes we get involved with what we are doing and we don't take the extra few moments to make our work area safe . Don't want to see anyone ever get hurt ,love the videos keep up the great work.

Mike I knew that sound the first time I heard it. A Zippo lighter. I don’t smoke anymore, but I’ve still got my Zippo lighter. It was really good to see Eva. I enjoyed the sawmill as always. Thanks and take care!👍❤️

Where you took that firewood round off that monster maple log, did you notice all the tap holes? That tree had been used to make maple syrup for a lot of years. You're right about the red pine, it is great for a lot of applications. Enjoy your channel.

Mike have you ever thought about hooking up a dust collector with a flexible hose to the sawmill. I tell you it would pick up a lot of dust every day. My shop DC saves me 2-3 hours of cleaning every week.

Nice to see Eva . Nice chips , sharp chain . Big log . The log is suppose to go up . Not the back end of the skid loader . Worked better with shorter log .

That sound so brings back memories and it reminds me of the clicker sound WW2 airborne used to identify each other.

I was just thinking how the sound of the chainsaw takes me back to my youth, cutting wood with my Dad. Then remembering the stories he and my uncle would tell how they would get accused of "riding the saw" when they were using the old 2 man saws cutting big logs the size of that Maple. 🤔😉I guess we have been spoiled by technology without even realizing it.

Mike, I wonder if Bucking Billy Ray would be interested in WV tree harvesting to add to each others shows. Seems a great way to expand both viewer numbers, & a heck of a show to boot. Thanks for the great videos, it's how I relax after coffee in the AM.

I was going to say Zippo’s are made in Bradford PA but that wouldn’t be new information for you. I have been to the museum in the late 90’s while I was visiting a friend who still lives in Bradford. The Zippo was used by almost every soldier in WWI. My father and grandfather both used Zippo’s for their pipes. I have both of them now. That certainly is a big maple Mike. Hello to Hunter Mellisa, Eva and the rest. Jeff from Ontario

Bpy, all those first cuts off the logs you make would make great rustic siding for something like your hunting blind in West Vir. Instead of just burning them up. Log cabin look

We've put some bigger then the mill calls for on our mill. Had to slide it closer to the head and turn it more often to get it down to size then it was off and running

Hey Mike, thanks for the video. The end of the Maple would make a Great table slab, if you could cut about 4-5 inches thick. That's pretty.
