I don't know if you know but James Holland does an excellent WW2 podcast with Al Murray who is a British comedian (and Oxbridge history graduate) called 'We Have Ways of Making You Talk'. They often have guests on talking about specific events. They're currently doing a whole series on D-Day.
"The Missing Thread" sounds amazing! Reminds me of Janina Ramirez's "Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages, Through the Women Written Out of It" which I really enjoyed recently.

Off topic: ages ago you hauled a history of Spain (maybe more than one), as well as a newer book on the Conquistadors. I was wondering if those happened to be books you did written reviews on. If so, where could I read the review(s)?
LOL!! You got your copy of Zhou Enlai before me!! Mine isn't due until next week, Peggy! I have seen some criticism of it in reviews, Chen Jian pulling his punches a bit, leaning to the argument that Zhou Enlai held back Mao's excesses somewhat rather than being the enabler (in many instances) that he was - but I am still looking forward to owning it. Managed to get my hands on Caroline Alexander's book on flying the Hump as well - not sure when I will get around to reading it. Been thinking of getting Salman Rushdie's book as well but where am I going to get the time?????
I feel ya, Laurence, about finding the time. I was just sorting through stacks and each book I kept lingering on ("ooh, I want to read this next" "I gotta read this now!" etc). It never ends! I'm honestly thinking of doing a "read your own" thing for half a year...see if I can stick that out!
Tea can be served in a form that's NOT over ice and loaded with sugar? This frightens and confuses me. 😢 I always feel so inadequate when you casually mention reading, for example, some other recent Harriet Tubman or Burma Campaign tome that you can now contrast with these brand new impending releases. That's okay though. Gives me a standard to fail at. 😁 Hope Boomer is recovering well. And I hope you and Martine have a great Memorial Day Weelend. And I ain't just whistlin' Dixie. 😉
