Ur right twine arm is missing the cone on its end

Congratulations on getting that thing working. It’s always gratifying to see the results of your labor pay off. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks! It was a fun learning project that hopefully is a useful tool for many years

Working on bringing a NH 644 bailer back to life. The autowrap arm mechanisms appear to have gotten tweaked and the Cam is not engaged in the large rotation gear. I don't have any background of what it is supposed to be doing when it is working or what is missing, etc. This was a backup bailer for a friend who never needed to use it and it sat for a long time. Video of the working autowrap/pulley/cam would really help me figure out what isn't working. I do robotics for farming as the day job and trying really hard not to put in a gear motor with a controller to move arms back and forth. Are you available for consulting and a remote video call to help troubleshoot? You having a working bailer that is very close to what I am trying to get working is the fastest path for me to bail some hay!!!!

It would be near impossible to get in range of WiFi with the bailer. I can make a vid though. I’ll see what I can do. I don’t think I can live stream with cell service/phone but that could be an option

@@Man-Time Video of the autowrap cycle from start to finish kicked off by the wrap lever would be very helpful.

Would want to do a video call from my end to have you look at my current setup and troubleshoot. Slightly older version but everything looked very similar. The cam doesn't turn and going to assume the gear on the cam is stripped. $800 for a new CAM. Thus very tempted to not try and fix a very complicated mechanical autowrap system 30+ years old that moves two arms back and forth. Super easy to build that mechanism with a motor and a controller. Want to .make sure I exhaust all options before going that route that what I have will work just not setup properly .

No problem covering you for your time or if you want to make a video of a remote session. Not many people left with the knowledge and skill to fix what is old and broken. RU-vid/video best way to document as a service manual wasn't designed for making it easy to diagnose and repair

I have an email in the channel description if you want to work out a one on one walk through

Tie your end of twine to the silver colored angle arm attached to the knife or somewhere else back there behind the knife

It can take years to find all the zerks on a machine, when you think you have go em all one day sure enough you will find another one

Good advice and reminds me I need to take the front grill off my backhoe, loosen and rotate the oil cooler, and grease the drive shaft for the hydraulic pump

You're tellin' me! I swear they grow like warts on any 'un greased surface' of a machine.

@@Man-Time Rotate the oil cooler?? My 455c isn't too different from your 555... you've caught my attention.

If you’ve never greased the u-joints/drive shaft coming off the front of the crank shaft, get on it!

@@Man-Time Just changed the filters yesterday after it sat all summer waiting to find the magic combination of parts that would get the replacement (used) axle working on the machine. I'll be crawling under it 'end to end' greasing things up so thanks for that tip. (I had a vision of you physically flipping the oil cooler around so the dirt would blow off... it's been that kind of a morning!)

What grabs the twine and starts it onto the bale?
@Man-Time
@Man-Time 4 месяца назад
The simple answer is the hay/bale. I was asking myself the same question. It jus hangs out the end of the tubes and magically works every time
@stevenpringle7813
@stevenpringle7813 3 месяца назад
@@Man-Time So as the hay bale turns in the baler the twine just gets sucked into the bale chamber and starts going around the bale as it turns? Where are the twine tubes pointing when the twine gets sucked in? Are they out at the sides where they start or are they together pointing straight at the bale when it happens? Thanks. Oh, and how sharp to the knives have to be?
@Man-Time
@Man-Time 3 месяца назад
Yeah the bale wrap activates and the twine tubes come to center and gets sucked in. The knives just free of burrs. Hand file

It seems with all the tech they have put into these new balers etc all they have done is make more problems!!! I still bale with a NH 850 chain baler. No electronics just a baler. I need to upgrade because parts are almost completely unavailable but man I hate all that electric sensors and junk!!!
@Man-Time
@Man-Time 2 года назад
Yes! The only reason to trade to new is lack of spare parts. Then I choose newish = oldest with spare parts available. Welcome to Man Time! Seems like you know the deal

@@Man-Time Yep I know the feeling. All that fancy equals big $$$ and trouble. Good while it works but a pain when it fails. Like the video was watching to see what older baler to maybe upgrade to in the near future. Thanks for the video.

How do I adjust density?
@Man-Time
@Man-Time Год назад
Mine is controlled by hydraulic cylinders and there is a valve on the manifold to adjust pressure. But there are several factors. Wind row density, how fast you run through the field, and how much pressure your tractor can output to the baler
