I am also contemplating a solo cruise on one of the HAL ships. I am a bit apprehensive especially about the fare but I am also impressed with the features of CO.

yes I briefly mentioned it near the beginning, but you're right, Club Orange members do have an upgrade to the best possible stateroom within the same category

Loved the Koningsdsm. Had a Neptune Aft Suite in April 2024 and truly enjoyed the view. We liked her so much, we canceled another Alaska trip to sail on her to Hawaii in Jan 2025. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Holland America definitely offers some of the best cuisine at sea! Their plating is fantastic as is their willingness to make the guest feel welcomed and appreciated! Are there other perks such as upgraded staterooms at booking or in room amenities not offered with Club Orange? Any private lounges or discounted/free drinks?
You're absolutely right about the plating, they have such a way of delivering fine dining! For upgraded stateroom they can upgrade you in the highest category of your tier(such as the multiple categories of interior cabins, if you booked a standard they can upgrade you within the tiers of the interior cabins) for free as part of the Club Orange package. For private lounges on this ship we saw there was a private lounge for the Neptune suites though not accessible for Club Orange. A private lounge we did experience is when they set up one of the meeting rooms as a private waiting area for the priority tendor access where you waited in comfort with many chairs available, no crowds, non-alcoholic beverages and small snacks like cookies until a staff member came to inform you that your priority access to a tender was available. If you have cruised with Holland America or any sister company such as Carnival before, you would have at minimum 1 star mariner status and can get 2 free beverage vouchers(any 2 alcoholic drinks up to $11) though I don't know if this is specific to Club Orange or rather the mariner status. Complimentary mimosas with fresh squeezed orange juice were offered at breakfast either in the Club Orange dining room or at room service. Other than that no other discounted or free drinks specific to Club Orange.
Thanks for the video, much appreciated. By the way, can I assume priority boarding for tenders also extend to going back to the ship? Meaning, you can skip the normal line at the pier and be boarded on the next available tender boat back to the ship.
I have been on Konigsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam and check-in has taken all of maybe 10-15 minutes. On NA, it has taken no more than 2 minutes to be seared in the MDR. You get ONE additional entree selection in Club Orange that is NOT available on the MDR. This is NOT a completely different menu like Luminae on Celebrity. Personally, i do not see anything that is worth $25 pp pd.
I think its worth considering when you go on the cruises as some parts of the year are busier than others and so Club Orange would be worth it, but also thinking about what you want to get the most out of cruising - some people prefer a less hectic and noisy environment, so the private dining area would be worth the comfort. Everyone is different though, and this video is expressing my opinions regarding it :)
Great question! We stayed in an inside stateroom for our trip but there's limited number of spots available so you have to book early to secure your Club Orange status!

Maybe worth it on Koningsdam, not Eurodam. Didn’t benefit from priority board or disembark,…no separate eating section…forgot separate menu sometimes…Orange Party too late and anyone could come into party…even little kids!
Our cruise didn't have too many younger passengers and as mentioned in the video, only three of the ships currently have a separate private dining area
