New Holland TM140 with 9 furrow Rumptstad WE-9 ECO-plough / ploeg 

Why is it that whenever farmers see someone else pulling a bigger implement than they do with similar horsepower then they feel the need to get all high and mighty and say "you couldn't do that on our real land over here..."!? The ploughing in this video is top class and the fact that it's being done with a small tractor makes it even more impressive.

The reason for not ploughing deep is if you plough to deep on grass it will end up on top rather than in the bottom of the furrow. I drove a Tm 140 for a few years dam good pulling tractor one of the best NH built and I am not a lover of ford NH, the farmer got the tractor new in 07 I had it all the time till ex for a new tractor in 2012 it made more second hand than what was payed for when new with 3890 H on clock in mint condition.

man there must be some serious strain on that rear linkage thats a big plough we use a 6 and 5 furrow keverland plough but ours are just ordinary conventional ones

Excellent ploughing, Some of the ploughing vids i see shoe the tractor going at a high rate of speed which leads to faster wear of the ploughshares and boards. Plus you burn more fuel.

Unusual plow. Not going very deep ~6.5" and the bottoms are quite narrow. Less then a foot wide. In the US typical is an 18" wide bottom. We run about 9" to 10" deep in Minnesota Also the type of plow above will not work in soil that has rocks in it. Most plows in the US have an auto reset bottom where the whole bottom can flex up and back and then reset.

Would any 9 furrow plow do the same or is there something special about this one? It looks fairly conventional.

I prefer plowing with a water buffalo myself. But its hard to keep the rows as straight as when you use a tractor.
