@Liat Oren That is actually what I've been thinking. I really love this foundation. But these shades seem to be yet another deception from Hourglass to make you think they've made all the shades for all skin tones. I can, of course, only speak for shade 9, but there is absolutely no way that model is wearing it. I would bet money on it. I don't understand it, but Hourglass seems to be up to their old tricks. 🙄
I wore it yesterday for 12+ hours. I think I only used 1 pump with a damp foundation brush and at first I wasn’t sure with the dry down, but as the day went on it was more beautiful 🤩
Ya, that's exactly what I thought. It got better and better throughout the day and I fell in love with it. When I first applied it, I thought "ok, it's pretty". I’m combo to oily and loving this foundation so far even though I just got it yesterday and worn it once for about 9-10 hours. I have to powder all foundations as I get oily in my t zone but it lasted all day and didn’t break on me. It looks beautiful on your skin 👍🏻🤩🌺

Just got this and love the finish/blurring effect on my oily/normal skin! For those looking to shade match, I usually shade-twin with Tara and got shade 11. It's a good summer match for me but I'd definitely need something lighter in the winter. For a supposedly neutral shade, 11 still runs warm enough for me. The online pictures are so unhelpful for these shades!
Foundation and Florida humidity 😫. I have found the best support to deal with humidity is a thin layer of Make Up Forever shine control step 1 primer. Anything that claims to have a dewy finish I won't even look at it will not last. Matte Foundation on me looks dewy after 10 minutes outside.🤪
Awesome review! I agree that the shades are off. I normally wear a shade less than you and the shade 8.5 was not a good match and 9 was way too yellow for me. I went for the shade 10 and it was the perfect color so I grabbed it. Love the finish, it’s semi matte on me. I have normal to dry skin and this one doesn’t dry out my skin. Very happy with this one.
Not only are the pictures of shades way off ..the descriptions were off and the shade finder suggested a shade that was way too light.. I went with 10.5 thinking it might be too dark but it was actually too light and yellowish (for my summer shade) So frustrating 😤
I swear there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that beautiful model was wearing shade 9. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY. I have a tan on my body and in the Swatches it's light on my arm. It matches my face pretty close as far as the shade depth and I don't tan my face. They are definitely deceptive on the shades, and images which HG is known for that🤪
P.S. Does that 10.5 have a yellow undertone? I was thinking about returning shade 7 and getting either 10 or 10.5 but, I wondered if the neutral 10.5 is still yellow. 🤔

I wore it yesterday and it wore beautifully but the undertone of 10 is a bit toooooo warm for me. You told me in your community center that you ordered 7, I got nervous and ordered 7 also for maybe winter but the shades are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to choose from, and I already know I’ll have to change it to 8 maybe for winter. But it’s sucks because they use the same description for multiple foundations
Yes .. AGREED. this foundation is wonky. I thought about returning shade 7 and getting shade 10. Is it yellow or golden? Seems like yellow seems to be what they're using for their warm tones😳 I don't mind a little yellow, but this is on another level. Haha. I absolutely LOOOVE the foundation and I'm hoping I can find a tad darker of a shade and use this one in the winter. 🤷♀️
@@TaraLynnbeauty I honestly think you might prefer one that is described as neutral. 10 has good depth as a shade but the undertone is not golden. Like I said it’s much more yellow than than expected. You might prefer 10.5 or 11 since they are both neutral, and everyone is claiming the neutrals run more warm, maybe it’s a bit less yellow than the “warm shades”. Keep us posted if you end up finding a better match ☺️ it sucks cause I like the foundation but the shades are all so weird. What I do is I mix it with NYX color corrector in green to calm down some of the yellow. It doesn’t change the formula BUT it alters the shade. I can’t wait to see your review on the Lancôme foundation, I also got the 400w.

Looks absolutely gorgeous on you. I have very mature skin and post menopausal at that so I would bet it wouldn’t be great in my skin. You younger gals out there would all look beautiful in this new foundation.

The hourglass translucent powder is the only powder I wear, it’s the best for mature skin hands down and I have super dry skin. I also have switched over to only tinted moisturizers like the one from NARS and bare minerals. As much as I would love to try this foundation, when I hear things like leading towards matte or kinda sets down to a powder finish with no tackiness, I already want to run. It does look like a nice foundation though, good review, thanks.

I'm trying to get on the tinted moisturizer bandwagon, as I have mature skin, but my dilemma is they don't really cover age spots/hyperpigmentation on me. What to do! :)
@JanetHart, I totally agree when it comes to dark spots, what I like to do is after I use my tinted moisturizer add another foundation with more coverage like the L’Oréal infallible 24hr freshwear and mix a tiny amount with the tinted moisturizer and go over those spot to cover them, it works beautifully, good luck.
I'm pretty obsessed with the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation at the moment, but I'm already thinking about what I want to get when this one runs out. I'm debating between the Armani Luminous Silk, Pat McGrath and Chanel 1. Now I may have to add Hourglass to that list of ones to chose from!
Everyone seems to really enjoy the Armani Luminous silk. I have had that on my wish list for a while. I have not tried the Nars light reflecting one. So many foundations.
Living in south florida there is nothing on Gods green earth that can hold up to the summer heat and humidity..also what’s your new skin routine your skin looks great
The pictures are wayyy off I went by description but the. They said the same description for several shades. I think they use models that are darker to make shade range look better. They aren’t the only ones it’s insane. I got 7.5 and the model is prob 2 2 1/2 shades darker than me

Shoot! So by description I should have gotten 5, but because the pictures looked so dark I got a 3. I can hopefully make that work. I am weird that since I don’t go out to tan anymore, (sheer laziness so I don’t want to deal with the drive, etc) I am a light neutral usually but my neck is lighter, I also have a very slight olive undertone. It’s hard to get exact anyway. I can’t wait to try it though. Thanks for the review!
@Dori King As you said your neck is lighter than your face and that foundations are matched to our necks, you might be ok . I too have olive undertones, I mix a touch of green to almost all my foundations to achieve the correct tone. xxx
Estee Lauded double wear can!! Ive wore it all day in the Louisiana summer heat and it didn’t budge! I dont use it anymore cuz it settles down in my pores and makes them even more emphasized unfortunately!
Yes, I am . I bought shade 400W and it's a little dark for me. I need a lighter shade😁 But, so far I like it, but not loving it like I loved this one from HG. But I'll put that review up on Tues😁😁
@R.C. it does last longer, but for me, the way this HG Foundation glows on the skin, and blurs the pores, it is beautiful. The Lancome is a nice Foundation, but for me personally, I pick the HG over it. But, those who have dry skin will probably do better with the Lancome than the HG 😁

You and Stephanie have said the exact same thing about how different the shades are compared to the shades they show online. It’s a gorgeous foundation and I love 💗 the way it looks on you! I just cannot figure out what shade to purchase. I’m a medium with a neutral undertone. I thought shade 7 or shade 7.5 would be my perfect shade but after seeing shade 7 it’s so light!! I'm thinking about returning shade 7 and getting shade 10, or 10.5. Even though 10.5 is a neutral Undertone, I was hoping it would have less yellow that the warm shades do. But, I would stay in the 9's or 10's if I were you. This foundation runs pretty light. I hate that the images are SO OFF, definitely makes it extremely difficult. I’ve never had luck getting a good shade match in Hourglass foundations. The Sephora shade finder tells me there is no match for me in this foundation so I’m not going to bother even trying this one.
Yes, for a few reasons. But, the Nars Light Reflecting never looked that great on me, i still prefer the Sheer glow . But, I never noticed the light reflecting properties in the Nars, not like I noticed in this one from HG. This one from HG is a little more Matte than the Nars , but I still like it over the Nars 😁💕
I’m confused. Wouldn’t a swatch against white paper look different than against darker skin. If I swatch foundation on my hands vs my wrist it’s a totally different colour.
Hi Tara, I have to say that I did love how pretty your skin looked with that foundation. I also got the Good Vides dress from Amazon. I did get it in a olive green. But I have to get it hemmed up in the front of the dress cause my butt brings up the back so it’s good in the back. I can’t wait to wear it. It’s so pretty. Thanks for recommending it Tara.

I am so frustrated with the pictures online of this foundation. They are nowhere near similar. It is so frustrating. I ordered 11.5 and it’s orange and looks nothing like the photos. I don’t believe it’s in store yet so I’m not sure what shade to exchange for. I’m annoyed.
Fabulous review! It looks beautiful on you. If a foundation works for you, it will definitely work for me. My skin is dry, but I know how to really moisturize before applying my makeup. I must admit that during your daylight check-in, I was totally looking for your fur baby.

Haha. I hear ya. During the month i was there, I was in and out of the heat when I wore makeup in Florida. The days when I was in the heat all day, I wasn't wearing makeup, just reapplying Sunscreen every hour because I was at the beach or the pool. I miss the humidity, my skin just loves it🤣 But, I totally understand the struggle is real when it comes to heat and the humidity with wearing makeup. If we were going somewhere and i was going to be outside in the heat / humidity for several hours, i wore the Dior Airflash Foundation. It's the only Foundation that didn't melt from my face. I also had a battery operated fan to help keep my face from Melting. Hehe. But, I can see this Foundation working great in the heat. It has that dry down, similar to the Airflash. But, if you do have dry skin, I don't think this will be the one for you. And, having dry skin, I'm glad you live in a humid climate. My skin gets dry in the winter here in Utah, but as I'm aging, that's changing. My face isn't as dry, but my body all year round feels like it's a dry desert and i hate it. Our goal is to live in Florida half the year and Utah half the year. I'm praying we get to do that very soon🙏😁❤️

We took a trip from Florida, all the way up to Rhode Island several years ago, drove it, took us 2 weeks. We loved every minute of it. Seen lots of places but our 2 fav places were Mystic Connecticut and Asheville NC. It was truly a special place. Beautiful mountains, green as can be, such a beautiful place. This is very informative. Saying it’s better to layer slowly and lightly is the first time I’ve heard anyone say that. I wish I could see a ranking of all the new ones - the only new one I got a sample of is NARS, and it emphasizes my mouth wrinkles and pores, in the area you pointed out - I’m the oddball that doesn’t love that one. I actually prefer L’Oréal serum with the dropper over the NARS. Maybe I tried with and without a primer, fingers, brush, sponge, everything. How does this one compare so I can know to even bother? Tara Lynn I’m Florida girl so we have our Florida foundation trick to get our foundation to hold up in our Florida heat. Normally we would never wear a cream foundation bcz that Will literally melt off your face. So we can still wear certain foundations all day long without it melting on us. Down here in Florida we just built a little different. Thank for the review I Absolute appreciate it and love it

Holy Pigment! WOW 😯 I just picked this up today and I played around with it when I got home…. well let me tell you I put too much on, should have watched your review first, and and you are right it gets Cakey very fast. A tiny bit goes a long way and I also found if I if a beauty blender is used, it made it very patchy, definitely need to use a brush with this one! Once I got it all figured out it does look very beautiful on my skin.
Yes, I completely agree about the sponge. It doesn't look right with a sponge. Yes. Gorgeous foundation but the shades ughhhh. I got a MEDIUM cool… it is WARM and IT is dark. I had to buy a second and hope to gawwwwd it will work.
The shades are wonky. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, HG is known for their shady images. Lol. But, there is no damn way the beautiful model was wearing shade 9. NO WAY. She's at least 3-4 darker than I am (i only wish I had that gorgeous complexion lol) The images are definitely deceptive. Sorry you are having issues with that as well. This was a great review. I will have to agree that the shades are very off! I originally had 13 based on the model and when I put it on it way way too light. They really need to do a better job with the models because it is a terrible comparison with the shades. However, I end up going with the 13.5 and it works great but it is nothing like the picture. I originally skipped it because the model had a much deeper skin tone than myself. Hoped Hourglass would will take this under consideration but other than that, it is a beautiful foundation.

I need to try this. My skin is now normal/dry so I think, with good skin prep, I'll be ok. I do have olive undertones, I shall just add a little green mixer to the half pump of foundation and it will be perfect (I hope 🤞!). Do you think this oxidised? I'm only asking because (I think) the swatch on the back of your hand looked much lighter than the finished look. Also, how does the texture/matte/dryness compare to the LE foundation? I totally forgot to give my thoughts on that🤪 I think it will hold up in and out of humidity, but I don't think it would last all day. It definitely holds up well throughout the day, I mean, it didn't budge on me at all. But, I am always skeptical when Foundations claim to be humidity or sweat resistant. It's definitely not resistant, but it's a nice one to wear and I would definitely wear it in the humidity over others. Hope that helps❤️❤️❤️
No, not at all. In fact, you can't really feel it throughout the day at all. Even when applying it. It has that dry feeling to it so it goes on very weightless. Really impressed so far😁❤️

Yes, I think that's definitely a little deceptive in the description. It's a glowy product because of the Ambient properties, but it's definitely not a glowy formula. I wouldn't recommend this for dry skin. Maybe as a mixer , but not alone. I have dry skin & am in my 30's and will just stick with the Beauty Blender Skin Tint. For $29 compared to nearly $30 MORE for something that is drying or I have to "mix" with a tinted moisturizer? No thanks! LOL I kind of had a feeling this foundation was drying... mainly because their vanish concealer is too.
