Random fun fact about this video - it's actually in slow motion because I talk so fast for no reason sometimes. Had someone review it and they said it gave them anxiety trynna follow LOL. Hope it's a good pace now haha. Feel free to let me know any comments or criticisms in regards to the overall structure. Also will be doing a one-slot effects tutorial hopefully later this week after one of my midterms so be on the lookout for that! edit: IT HAS BEEN DONE :)
The pacing of the video is very natural. It does not feel slowed down, which means you probably do talk a bit fast in real life, haha. But yeah, the video is 10/10.
completely optional and up to you! i have some games in my switch and some in my sd card just cuz i maxed out the storage on my switch. i will say tho that if you ever get unlucky and ur micro sd card gets corrupted and you need to format that u will need to redownload the games that were on it
@@pcvrisepic no problem! uh i'd recommend before so that you already have everything u want and u can just add to it. either is fine, tho! i've just had better luck doing it beforehand
Hello, good evening @Hawkeye_02, I wanted to ask you how the 1 Frame Less Delay works? Should I put it in 3 frames in the arena or in automatic? Could you give me a little information please, thank you very much for your great work.
1 frame less delay takes 1 frame off of the delay of all smash. the arena latency mod makes it customizable for the connection you are playing in. i would recommend doing auto with that, and if the connection is smooth and you are both wired you can do whatever auto is and subtract an additional frame! hope this helps!
hi, so i recently wanted to try my hand at using smash mods again, and i found this video very helpful! however, i seem to be having an issue regarding actually launching smash ultimate itself once i injected the payload into the switch and ran the software. was wondering if i missed any steps? thank you so much.
do you mean when you click on smash and it just crashes? if so i would recommend checking any additional mods/plugins that you installed and maybe those are the problem? if not let me know and i’m happy to help where i can. worst comes to worst tho you can retry the sd card from scratch and just try booting with everything i did in the vid. and since you seem to have a good understanding i could send a premade sd card with the mods i did here if you need.
@@Hawkeye_02 yeah!! a premade SD card would be great actually just to sorta see what mine would look like, thing is i was actually able to get it to load with the fusee.bin thru atmosphere method, but i couldn’t get hekate startup to work at first so i’m assuming maybe it has something to do with a plugin i got? only got the training mod pack but i’m unsure. Thanks again I really appreciate your time, your tutorial was fr really helpful!
@@Hawkeye_02 Aye nah bro it’s totally alright please take your time with it all!! I really appreciate you lookin out in general! and finals comes first yk? Gl on them bro you got it!!
@@kaimystic1949 greatly appreciate it! here's a file that should work with everything. all u gotta do is drag everything inside the SD Card Test folder in then just put in any mods u want into ultimate > mods. drive.google.com/file/d/1dTkZsGWJFdhND_G4Otn-XL0IrfTHVlrt/view?usp=sharing (it has all the plugins shown in the vid just no skins and stuff)
on the smash boot up screen for me it says arc 3.6, while yours says 4.0. some mods work, while others dont. i downloaded the most recent arc too. would you know why this is? thanks.
haven’t heard of this before so i can try to look into it when i get the chance. some mods are outdated and won’t run on the most recent versions of the game though. (it will usually be specified by someone in the gamebanana comments or the creator or something of the sort)
this could be many things, for starters i’d recommend making sure all of the plugins you installed are the latest version and make sure you try booting up again. if you still dunno you can check the crash reports in your atmosphere folder and you can toss it in modding-help in my discord and we can find the actual issue
Hi Hawkeye, I've done the steps to install all the options you've done in the video. But there is a problem in the mods, I have downloaded several mods and when checking them within smash, they do not appear but if they appear in the list of mods with an arrow, could you help me to solve it please :)
So from my understanding they only appear in the folder and not the actual game? If this is the case make sure the base smash is modded (could just try by seeing if the mod manager is there). If that’s all good then check the mods in the folder and make sure the folder is not double-layered (this means that when u click on the skin mod you see the fighter and ui folders and not just another folder saying what the mod is)
@@Hawkeye_02 Are you referring to the "mod manager" option that appears in the esho menu options? And if I have checked several mods that I have downloaded, the folders that you mention appear, which are fighter and ui. In this case, should I delete the others that have a voice effect or animation effect, whether they are brightness, for example, and leave only the two aforementioned files of fighter and ui?
@@sonicdrawing7548 the voice/effects folders and all of that are fine and shouldn’t affect anything. if your smash is modded and everything but the skins is working i would just check your ultimate > mods folder and make sure everything looks like ultimate > mods > (insert name of mod) > (all of the fighter/ui/effects folders). If there is another layer here that isn’t listed that is the issue and why they aren’t getting detected. For example if you have ultimate > mods > mods > (insert name of mod) > fighter/ui/effects OR ultimate > mods > (insert name of mod) > (insert name of mod) > fighter/ui/effects. Then that needs to be fixed. Sorry for the wall of text - hope that all makes sense. it’s just difficult to explain
if it still doesn’t work/make sense feel free to join my discord and send photos of what u r talking about and i’m more than happy to make a mini vid to help
did you read the version inside of system settings or the one one the bottom of the switch? it’s possible that the bottom of ur switch is faded and makes it hard to read so i’d check for sure in the settings. if it’s still that i’d assume it’s patched because it’s probably newer
ah i gotcha. i can look into it more, but for the time being i’d assume that it’s patched since it could be a serial number that is only ever patched, and maybe that’s why it’s not on the site? still unsure lol
@@Hawkeye_02 I just got time to try it again. Did it all from the beginning again. This time atmoshere did show up in the launch option and arcropolis is working perfectly. I installed two mods but the one that adds music isn't working. I got it to work on yuzu but idk if it doesn't work on switch or if I just did something wrong on my end. Edit: Nvm I figured it out. I put it in double-layered without noticing lol.
@@Hawkeye_02 I do have one more question though. If a mod comes with a nro file in it, do I move it into the skyline>plugins folder? Some of the mods don't give a discription on where everything should go.
I did everything in this video but everytime I boot up Smash I keep getting a prompt that says, the software was closed because an error occurred. I tried other games and I don't get this error but its only happening to smash how do I fix this please? 🙏
i would disable any smash mods that you have that could cause this. you can start with plugins and move from there. i would use some troubleshooting steps that i cover in the video such as the arch bit stuff
Thank you so much! I know it was probably difficult to get this all right in a recording without a slip up but the reward is well worth it for us all. Will throw a subscribe on there.
Hello, ive made it all the way to the point of launching my switch in RCM mode, but when im there after delivering the payload and i go to launch it says, 'no main boot entries found... Check that the bootloader/hetake_ipl.ini has entries or use more configs button for more boot entries.' and when i open that folder on my PC it does say its empty but i looked at the copy of yours and it also said it was empty. Ive also reset the SD card and tried everything again from scratch, so im just confused. Any suggestions? Edit: It mustve been one of the skins i tried downloading, i removed all of them and it works just fine. Is there a way to know which ones work or not though?
best way to check is trial and error! also looking at gamebanana comments will probably result in some success, always possible a mod isn’t compatible.
So after modding, i had realized that opening smash and seeing the characters, i saw that a lot my dlc had disappeared... is there anyway i can fix that and see if i can get my dlc back?
@@Hawkeye_02 i might be running those… cuz there were some mods that were like 3 years old so maybe that’s why? i’m not too sure, and i’m also thinking that trying to download the data for my games normally may end up getting me banned (i have been looking up what happens for the past hour or so and never found a response for it)
yeah that’s the reason why, you gotta find a css mod that is up to date with everything. and downloading anything normally won’t cause any issues at all it’s completely separate so dw about that
@@Hawkeye_02okay so basically all i had to do was let the game download what was deemed as “necessary” and all of my dlc came back, but i do thank u for the help :)
Please someone help me, i was wondering if i could install non Wi-Fi safe mods then when i take them out of the sd card would i be able to go online? (Sry if this make no sense)
a better way to go about this is to disable non Wifi-safe mods before playing online! you can do this thru the method shown in the video by going into the mod manager area and just disabling them then rebooting the game
this usually happens if your switch is patched so i’d double check that it is unpatched. if you had a 50/50 with the yellow then it seems like u got unlucky and can’t mod thru this
assuming tegra is saying RCM OK, and your switch is in RCM mode, that’s all there then all i can suggest is making sure you go step by step and adding stuff to ur microsd card again. otherwise ur switch might be patched
i’d make sure that the zip files that u owned and dragged in aren’t double-layered! make sure that in your ultimate>mods folder that the fighter folders look like (mod name)>fighter/ui/effect/config and not (mod name)>(mod name)>fighter/ui/effect/config! hope this gives a better idea! if you still have any issues feel free to hop into my discord and ask in the #modding-help channel!
i have thought about it but i am not familiar enough with the process and would need to learn more. if you’re talking just installing pre-existing music mods you can just find any music files on gamebanana that u want and toss them in the mods folder (be sure not to play online if the music you get isn’t just replacing other music!). if you want to create your own music to replace there is a gamebanana thread that covers how. i can try to find it if you’d like.
I know my switch is in RCM, but the GUI wont show that its connected. I tried different cables and other programs (like APX wont show up in zadig). Does anyone have any advice?
all i can recommend is restarting your computer, reinstall the driver or trying a different computer. outside of that you can try to go step by step in reinstalling everything in ur microSD card. sorry for the delayed response! good that u know u got the RCM part tho, from there it’s just trial and error. good luck 🫡
Whenever i open up super smash bros it gives me a error saying "ARCropolis cannot currently run on a Smash versioin lower than 13.0.1 Consider updating your game or uninstalling ARCropolis." I think im close to having my mods work i just need help
sounds like ur smash isn’t fully updated. you need to go to ur home screen, click the plus icon on ur joycon/pro controller while hovering over the game and now that you see the software details go to software update and update it via the internet
thanks! a common issue is that if you got any mods for your character select screen that haven’t been updated for the new character releases then they won’t appear, so i’d recommend checking that and making sure
How do you get SYSMMC on the launch menu? I got my switch modded via mod chip and all the hekate stuff was already set up. I followed everything in this vid and insalled all the atmosphere files and stuff. I still only see EMUMMC and not SYSMMC
did you in the hekate_ipl.ini file? that is what gives the other option to boot off of. if there’s one in there already from what u said was already set up you could try dragging in the one i linked and replace it
I put the hekate_ipl.ini file in and Its showing up as Atmosphere CTW on the launch screen. Is that fine? My problem is a little strange. Whenever I boot my switch through a modded version like emummc or atmosphere or whatever, its on a different nintendo switch account. Do you know how I change it so that it boots with my account instead? It seems whoever did the modding on my switch made a separate account@@Hawkeye_02
Hey man! I don’t know why this happens, i put a few mods on my sd card and boot up smash but then it crashes saying “software was closed because an error occured” do you know why this happens?
Hey, this helped me getting things going, but a few things were missing imo: 1: When you are in the Arena, how were you controlling that Latency slider? I see your hand moving on the screen, but never was it mentioned how this is actually changed. 2: If I went to go into Elite Smash, do I need to de-activate things? are there risks involved. 3: Do I have to have a fresh SD card for each switch? Like what if I am modding for a friend, and he has a bunch of games and game saves already. I can't just reformat his game saves. other than that, very helpful, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback! 1. You just do it using the d-pad! 2. No, as I mentioned in the video, everything shown is Wi-Fi safe. 3. I also mentioned in the video that if a microSD card has been used with the switch already that you can disregard the formatting process and get straight into dragging the mods stuff into the card. (in addition if you need to format due to corruption or anything, in game data is saved in the nintendo cloud and you won’t lose anything, or at least that’s how it’s been in my experience). Hope this helps.
I did everything and it worked perfectly but I can’t launch smash since the new update, should I just replace my actual mod version by the new ones available for hekate etc ?
@@Hawkeye_02 oh I have another quick question, I saw that the new training mod has a definitive version who’s not the beta one, just have to do the same thing as I have to do with hekate to install it ? Like replacing/merging the new version with the beta version?
@@Hawkeye_02 found out that I just had to move a plungin into the skyline folder lol but hey your tutorial is really good man, ever consider doing more for the more complicated ones like moveset changes and new characters like Alucard?
i did, just thru the windows 11 archive thing. i took the folders i wanted out of the zip file. just makes more sense for me personally so that’s how i did it/shared it
Thank you for the guide! I'm about to mod my switch, but I have a question. Can I just use the sd card that's on my switch and not format it? And if so, is it okay that I do all of this while de data of some games are in the sd card?
You will have to follow the instructions in the gamebanana post. I believe they put the requirements for it in there. Keep in mind, as this does add a new moveset it is not wifi safe though! So offline use it the only way to safely play without getting banned.
@@Hawkeye_02 got it all figured out! Thanks you so much for making this video excellent tutorial this was the only video that helped me figure out what to do. That and your old one.
so i updated my game with my mods and i get a error code: 2002-4802 doesnt even give my game a chance to open anyone that can help me or sometimes it opens after hekate bootloader and says currupted data
@@Hawkeye_02 Hey thanks for that info. I did that but it is still giving me the same error. I watch your video and then i got sake results and then i look at the written guide and follow the directions and still getting the same results. i am not sure but I am not giving up haha
during the FAQ, you said if you shut down the switch completely, you do need to go through the tegra process again. does this include inserting the RCM jig into the joycon slot every time?
Hey! Awesome tutorial btw. If I want to add multiple skin mods for the same character, do I just drag and drop into the mods folder like normal? Or is there a particular way of doing this?
i think i’m going to refrain just because those mods are not wifi-safe and i don’t want to be responsible for anyone misunderstanding anything and getting banned. if there is a very high number of people that want it i will consider for sure tho.
you are the goat my friend, always come back here when i need to update things just to make sure i get things right. made modding when i first did it much less daunting than it looked.
Hey man quick question amazing tutorial! I dunno if I messed up somewhere but when I inject payload and click launch I keep getting a no main bootloader found error and js wanna know how to fix that that. Thanks.
so make sure that the .ini file in the video is in your bootloader folder from hekate! id just recommend restarting the hekate portion and then you should be all set
I did everything but I can’t get into the character select screen without the game crashing except for online but it will crash while loading into the game
there’s a lot of issues that can cause this but i’d start by looking at what mods you have and do trial and error runs with batches of mods til you figure out which one is causing the crash
nah all links in the description r fully up to date and working. just gotta be sure to check, if there’s anything that isn’t compatible the description of the pre release stuff should specify so u should be all set!
Sorry but may i ask a question? After injecting the payload and launch atmosphere, i tried to launch smash but the new mods have been detected pop up is not on screen and the game is the vanilla smash and not the modded one 😢
this can be many things, so sorry i can’t provide a definite answer here, but a troubleshooting guide for this issue in the modding discord is here! discord.com/channels/447823426061860879/1090340029265612840
i’m not sure i follow, but yes you have to reinject any time u fully shut down your switch, trust me the process takes like 15s once u get good at it! and if you wanna boot up your switch completely modless you can just turn it on without injecting anything and it’ll be normal.
Considering modding my switch for the delay mod but upon checking the serial on my switch I got the yellow msg. As you stated, 50/50 whether it works or not. I have 2 questions. First one: If the mods don’t happen to work can I revert my switch back to its default state/not brick my switch? Second question: If my switch does accept the mods, how good is the delay mod online (during arenas), as in how much of a difference does it make? Thanks in advance.
For the first one, if it isn’t moddable basically it just won’t respond to the rcm process and won’t turn on and stuff when u inject. in that case u can just turn ur switch on normally and just enjoy it unmodded. As for my own personal experience with the latency mods it’s a game-changer. it makes the connection way more consistent and you can play with less delay so it’s way closer to replicating offline. Hope this helps!
@@Hawkeye_02 Thank you for the insightful response. Knowing my switch can’t get bricked gives me peace of mind. I have one last question. It’s come to my attention that modding means also risking a console ban. So hypothetically speaking if I was able to successfully install input latency mod on my switch which I would only use it for arena battles against players who are already modded. Would I be safe from a console ban, if I played other games (online) installed on my modded switch: Pokémon Scarlett for example? My reasoning for asking is due to different things I’ve been told or read, where some sources make it seem as if you mod your switch and connect to any Nintendo online server you’ll get console banned. In regard to what you stated about the delay mod, I figured as I have been doing extensive reading and asking around. Majority of users say it’s game changing. Overall, thanks again.
any mods i’ve shown in the video will be safe from a console ban! this applies to most cosmetic mods (but the gamebanana description usually specifies if they’re wifi safe or not). there are mods that are not safe to use online that will result in a console ban, but it won’t be an issue if you only get wifi safe mods and/or only play offline if you want to use any non wifi-safe mods
if you mean overlapping modpacks then yes. all you’d have to do then is make sure any overlapping mods aren’t both enabled at the same time, but if you mean just in general and none of the mods overlap then you should be able to do it without any issues
@@Hawkeye_02 thx , well I had mods , it gave me the option to enable , i did, crashes out game everytime , So im changing mods and doing trials , I'm not sure what the issue is , gives me system error
I followed all the steps and everything but when i go to inject the payload, it gives me the message Error while injecting payload (RC=-50). What do i do to fix this? I already redid this whole process like 2 times and it doesnt work each time
i believe this error stems from an issue from your device, the usb port on the device or the cable you’re using, so i’d try to change each of those up if possible
so if you have no new mods and you have rebooted into it then it won’t pop up, but if you installed brand new mods and it doesn’t show up then you might want to retrace your steps and make sure you installed all of the previous plugins and such. you can start by checking the eshop in your switch and see if that has become the mod manager. if it has then you should see your list of mods. if you see the mod manager but no mods, check your ultimate > mods folder to make sure they are named correctly and that the mods were installed the same as i did in the video
@TheBronyGamer8000 oh then your switch mods just didn’t get installed. either A, your switch is patched, B your switch never went in RCM mode and u didn’t put in the jig/boot in thru tegra, or C you r missing files in ur micro sd card
Thank you amazing video question can you do this as a payload injector and would just be as simple as Putting everything on to the injector then putting it in your switch and following the same steps?
i’m not sure i 100% understand. but if you follow what i do in the video and put the mods into the micro sd card then inject the bin file thru tegra you’ll be good to go!
@@Hawkeye_02 yeah just going to do it your way thank I know they have payload injectors you can buy.Witch can do the same thing with out having to hook it up to your computer Everytime but your video is so much simpler thanks for this
That won’t work. Your switch entire switch gets banned from online if you use non-wifi safe mods. Luckily everything here is safe and most cosmetic mods are safe and if they aren’t they usually specify!
@@EliShanethe14th if you edit any actual moves/hitboxes/hurtboxes just be sure to not play online with them. playing online with those would result in a ban, but any cosmetics is okay!
Hello friend, good video, I have a question, I have magic installed on the Switch and I don't know if that affects anything but when I open the smash it gives me an error that damaged data was found, please tell me what I could do to fix it?
that shouldn’t affect anything, just sounds like you got unlucky and your micro sd card got corrupted. i recommend formatting it like i did in the vid, then installing all the mods, then u should be good. you’re gonna have to redownload any games u had on the sd card but that shouldn’t cause any issues!
@@Hawkeye_02 I see that this is a possibility but, I was lucky that the card was not corrupted but rather the mod files had to be repaired in hekate, so if I have another question with the mods, for example, I downloaded one from Ganondorf's tears of version. the kingdom and I don't know why when using it the smash gets stuck, what if when you start smash the acropolis notifies that there are mods (files in conflict) that it detects and I wouldn't know how to fix it, yes please could you help me thanks in advance .
i would open up ur micro sd card on ur computer and you can go into ultimate > a new arcropolis folder will be created and in that will be the conflicts that you need to handle@@jeriandres8735
Did you slide the rcm jig in the right joycon rail and the right position? You need to power off your switch first, slide the rcm jig, and hold the power and volume up button. And then enjoy the injection process :)
Thanks for the guide! Can I do this with a MacBook? And if so, I was wondering on how I would put the downloaded mods on the micro sd card at 8:27. I’m completely new to modding btw.
@@cobizayah_v2 you’re gonna want something to open .rar files in the event u download a mod that is .rar, so i’m not 100% sure if macs do that themselves nowadays, but you could probably find a 7zip equivalent for mac if it isn’t already compatible (winrar does have a mac version so you could do that if needed)
Hey I have the sd card needed it has near enough 40 gigs on it but it does have some data on it already stuff like bayonetta 3 probably Pokémon violet and stuff will it like corrupt it and do anything to that data or no?
