it is hard to get your thumb in place for it. especially with the broom handles on brains hands.

@@ytbaccount87 I've never tried it, but it certainly seems awkward, or less natural, to get your thumb into place as recommended. Even if he doesn't adopt the recommended technique 100%, as he continues to train it and his version of the technique gets better, he still seems favored to crush that record. But again...how many people have thumbs that big? It may just be the right technique for all but a select few.

Who's brain?

the idea behind it is that (with the recommended technique, not the one Brian's using) you get more surface of contact. Therefore the more surface you can cover with your thumb and fingers, the more adherence you get.

He will absolutly break it if he twist his thumb, for most people it gives 15% or so

Travis Weigand As one of those grip guys, i can concur. Unfortunately, there is a lot of hating on Brian amongst the grip community. Don’t really understand why, either. I would love for Brian to show up to a grip comp.

@@TommyJr817 there's a lot of hating on Brian in a lot of lifting disciplines. People don't like how effortlessly he makes things look. People who've trained specific things for years and years get destroyed by him when he seemingly just gives it a go. Like when he did the rowing machine at Supertraining. Loads of backlash from rowers that they'd "destroy him in a real boat". It's jealousy and fragility. Brian is literally one in a billion. He has the genetic and mental disposition for greatness. And that wounds the pride of those who don't.

he's also the nicest guy on the planet. I doubt anyone of those guys could possibly hate on him face to face because he would just be so nice to them

@@TommyJr817 Why are they hating? I think iron mind pinch block gripping is harder than this though. Shaw is very cool. He may need to go down in weight soon tho. The size isn't healthy to maintain forever for his strongman competitions. Didn't brian win world strongest man 5 times?? Wow!! Did he ever get to the 100lb mark. I know I can pinch grip 50lb dbs and bring them way up very high. Im getting the IM pinch block to see what I can lift currently. Very.impressive when you can pinch grip 60-80 plus lbs all!

That would get him the 90#, but as you get close to a number like that on something like this going up just a little bit gets harder and harder. I suspect that rotating his thumb behind it getting him more surface area on the steel and getting those great big paws of his closer to it would make a big difference, but even a couple of pounds is a great big difference at that weight.

@@mpikas right on mark same guy who is much smaller has the hub grip record for years. It's a whole different lvl of strength to lift 90-100 lbs on the hub Tendon, forearms, core and fingers. Harri T is the man. Has the iron mind pinch blockbuster block record 113lbs and the hub record too 98 lbs. No wsm has beat it yet lol

They're actually not all that short, they are just so thick they look short. He has about 8 and a quarter inch length hands but they're about that wide too

@this person's dad True, but they are shorter than Brian's and probably equally strong, which is an advantage, because theoretically if you have long fingers leverage plays against you in this exercise

November is what I hear and its looking fairly likely is on which would be cool. Because of the popular demand from viewers of both channels I would imagine it will happen eventually.

Felix has crazy grip.... I would bet Bennie has top notch grip also. I would imagine the top grippers are people who specialise in it and we probably have never heard of them. Safe to say any top strong man is going to have world class grip strength.
