For transitions between clips, you have to select the one you want and then drag it to the split location. Once in place, you can select it and edit the length. Took me some time to figure this out since its a little different than other editors. Thanks for the video!
Two deal breakers for me. 1st one cannot combine 360 clips together in Projects. Reframed clips one can combine but not 360 clips. 2nd point is - In Media I can select Stats and configure the overlay in a 360 clip but when Exported the overlay is stripped from the video.
I will watch later but soo how glad to see new video)) keep going))) Thanks 🙏 it is huge update just all what wanted I still can't believe it happens because I soo wanted to have it... Have it 360 or just flat... Watch later and see)))
Has anyone figured out how to change the frame rate in the Project mode. Allowing it to match the clip rate you are adding? It seem to be greyed out at 30FPS
I can't seem to find a way to edit speed of clip sections in the project tab, or even preserve speed adjustments. For instance, I made a clip in the Media tab and slowed a section down. Then, in the Project tab, I added that clip to the timeline, but it was full speed--the whole thing. It did not transfer that slow-down. I see a way to adjust the speed of a clip in the timeline of the Project tab, but it applies to the entire clip as opposed to just a small section of it as I had done in the Media tab edit.
Hello. I have a question, if you want to help me??? In Insta Studio, in the Media panel you can edit each video separately and set the LOGO. But in the PROJECT panel, there are no options to set LOGO at Nadir???? Or am I doing something wrong? How to set a Nadir Logo in Project panel???
Hi there is no nadir logo in the project because nadir logo is only for 360 video. Project tab can do reframed video but not 360 video. I hope that helps.
Great video. I love the "No Transition" button. Was it aways there? Just starting a project and the noticed my version 5.1.0, has four less pre-set option the Key Frame pop up menu than you're showing. Is this a setting or maybe a change going to 5.1?
Thanks! Yes the no transition has been there for a long while. Seriously underutilized. As for having fewer preset options idk I’ll ask insta360 if they can put it back.
The direction lock seems to be completely useless with X4 footage as it wanders all over the place requiring tons of keyframes. Coming from a gopro max and the reframing from gopro will follow the direction the camera points just like a single lens camera easily. Not sure what I'm missing but the camera is pretty useless if it can't follow where it's pointed.
Hi brookscurran. 4 tips for you: 1. If the selfie stick is perfectly horizontal, then the forward direction will flip 180 degrees every time the camera crosses the horizon. That’s why in the video I suggested turning off direction lock if you find the stabilization wonky. 2. Another option to avoid #1 is to hold the camera with the lenses facing left and right instead of sky and ground. If you do this, then crossing the horizon should not flip the forward direction in direction lock. 3. I frequently use deep track instead of direction lock to keep the camera focused on me. 4. Alternatively, you can use me mode to keep the camera always focused on you, no reframing needed. I hope this helps!
@@360vroomers thanks for the tips! I almost always just use it on a bite mount for regular pov. I really just want to reframe it like a single lens camera but get the FOV and stabilization that 360 mode offers. Looks like I’ll be going back to the trusty GoPro max again
@@brookscurran Like the camera is simply pointing downward and lens facing forward? If you use it Iike a POV cam like that, direction hold on x4 should be just as accurate.
Using Studio 5.2 on Mac and only see 3 icons on right edge of screen vs your 6 (media processing, clip mgmt and file properties). Can’t see where Flowstate Stabilization is. Camera is GO 3S.
wow) Mic this is awesome explain and tricks soooo cool to have for edit) as usual what can realy help) thanks ) huge work) and insta is soo nice in 360) for make more and have such in edition) how cool they add such things add to good to become perfect)
@@kumanprzemek for 360 video export, the new insta360 studio does not offer anything new. If you want to edit and export 360 video, try Virb Edit (free) or powerdirector (cheaper than most editors).
@@360vroomers thank you, this gave me hope but I work on MacOS and it doesn't seem like powerdirector lets you edit 360 on the MacOS version. Would you know that for sure? And if so, any other suggestions for editing and exporting 360 video for Mac? I need to reorientate 360 clips then export them with new orientation as 360 videos, but can only do that as reframed videos in Insta360 studio, which is insane. I can't run Premiere on my computer and Resolve won't let me export more than 4k on free version. Any ideas??!!! It's driving me crazy! Thanks!
@@julesvlj1859 which version of powerdirector do you have? In this chart, under professional video editing, you can see all current versions of powerdirector support 360 video editing: www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software/comparison_en_US.html
The Projects are limited to 30 fps only. I need to be able to combine separate 5.7K/60fps clips and maintain the quality 🙁 Is there no basic app that we can use to do this for the exported .mp4 files?
I have had almost all of the insta360 cameras from the beginning. The Studio software has come a long way and I am excited about that. The only thing I scream at the sky about on an hourly basis is why oh why an action camera is produced today without GPS tracking built in camera. Please don't tell me I can use my phone, gps remote by insta360, or a smart watch. All action cameras, all action cameras including cheap junk ones on Amazon have it built in. We use action cameras to do action not videos of grandparents walking in the park. I fly and don't want or need any unnecessary extra crap to carry or have the potential to fail or loose conection or more batteries to worry about. I need the telemetry data for overlays as do most action sports RU-vid creators do. I used to use Sony x3000 cameras, Garmin, and a bunch of others, but I absolutely love the color science and everything else about the insta360 product line of cameras. I currently have the X4 and the Ace Pro, and plan on picking up another X4. I literally just sold 10 other action cameras of previous models and brands. I hope the next generations of Insta360 cameras have GPS built in camera. 🙏
Why aren’t my images being saved to my iPhone album in 360 images format after I chose export as 360 from insta360 app? It’s just flat images doesn’t save with that 360 symbol and FB doesn’t support 360 images no more ?
Hi Alberto. When you export as 360 (not reframed) does it appear in your album as an equirectangular image (2:1 rectangle, looks distorted especially toward the top and bottom)? IPhone gallery doesn’t support 360 photos. Instead, try google photos. If you upload that same photo to google photos, you will see the 360 symbol. As for posting 360 to Facebook, see this article: 360rumors.com/facebook-360-photo-not-working-2021/?amp=1
Thanks Vineet! I was actually doing a lot of testing with insta360, giving suggestions on studio before its release. But they suddenly changed the schedule and released it super early 🤬 which didn’t give me enough time to finish the tutorial. So that’s why this tutorial wasn’t released until yesterday.
makes sense, thats why i messaged you because i saw the video from Yuqing and was thinking I am sure Mic has had to have early access to this :) eitherways great video :) @@360vroomers
Missing new buttons. If you are Mac user and the screen is full size, the project and media buttons may not appear. If so, the size controls are also cutoff. Use F3 and drag the studio screen to the desktop. The buttons will now be visible and active.
How do I sort my files in the project media tab once it's been imported? It appears randomly. And there is no option to sort by date or name or any other way. I have 116 files. I cannot even begin to edit my footage chronologically cos I'm trying to make a video about a trip to vietnam.
Hi good question. Right now I don't see a sorting option in Projects but I'll ask them to add it. Meanwhile, here's a workaround: in the Media tab, import everything, then use the sort button (upper left corner) to sort it. Then go back to Projects tab and in the Temporary media tab, the files should be there in sorted order.
@@lllcinematography thanks buddy! Re limited capability, here’s some context: I’ve been asking them to enable studio to combine videos for maybe 3 or 4 yrs. They only did it now which shows that desktop is not their priority. However I hope that now that studio has become more useful, more people will use it which will encourage them to put more development effort into it.
@@360vroomers catch 22 there. but based on their current choices, i think they won't prioritise desktop over phone app. i love their hardware, and i'd gladly pay for better software cos its driving me insane. I just sold off the x3 cos of this. dealing with the footage. and am sure many are too. there's so many on the used market. their ace pro is also i think the best action cam out there now, but at least with that editing won't be such a pain.
@@lllcinematography you sold your x3 bec of the software? Hmm I’m curious what did you get instead? Imho, their software is far ahead of gopro and everyone else that I know of.
I really enjoyed and learned more from your 15 min beginners guide than all other videos combined. Do you have videos showing how to use split screen and also how to create a video that the viewer can explore the video while watching it? Thank you
Thanks Greg! (Nice bike! I used to have a ZX636 back in the day). 1. When you say split screen, do you mean Multiview? The Multiview effect is available only when editing on the phone. To use it, just view the video you want to use Multiview with, then on the bottom of the screen with editing effects like Trim, aspect ratio, etc. look for Multiview. Then click the + sign on the right to choose the point where the multiview starts and slide the bar to the end of the multivew and press the check mark. You can then select the different multiview effects, including Split Screen. 2. To create a video that the user can explore while watching, you need to export your video as a 360 video (not a reframed video). Then you need to post the 360 video somewhere that supports 360 videos, such as youtube or DeoVR.
@gdebell_757 the explorable video (360 video) can be exported either in studio or the app. But please note that in studio, you need to use the media tab (the project tab cannot export a 360 video).
Interesting and useful, but very low level audio which made it hard to hear your commentary. Most of the really new stuff is in the Project tab which you covered rather quickly - I think it might be worth making a video just about that. Some users have been puzzled about how you edit keyframe transitions in the Project tab (completely different from before) and it's worth emphasising that audio can be imported from your own files - one RU-vidr said that it can't be done in his review and now everyone thinks that's a problem! The biggest downside for me is that you can't crossfade audio (though you can fade it in and out as you showed) and you can't fade in the start of the video or fade out the end without using workarounds (for those who like that style).
Thanks Peter! I appreciate the detailed feedback. RU-vid’s algorithm is ruthless so I had to cut the video as short as possible. Since there’s a lot of overlap between project and media, i decided not to go over them again except keyframing which is a bit different, so i covered it again. I’ll ask insta360 to add audio transitions such as crossfade and to allow transitions at the beginning and end.
3:55 this little bit of the video ANSWERS what I’ve been asking for years with no definitive answer I’ve been wondering about distortion compensation for using a dive case ABOVE water / or in my use case, used in particularly damaging situation such as under vehicle on gravel roads Seeing that one setting option gives me confidence the image will look reasonable VS distorted for underwater only recording use of the case
Thanks buddy! Here’s a puzzle and tip: if you want to use your dive case both underwater and above water in the same video, how do you do it? The answer is to use clip management. First, use underwater stitching and keyframe everything. Then use clip management make a duplicate clip. Then for the duplicate clip, change the stitching mode to above water. So now you have two clips: one clip uses above water and the other clip uses the underwater stitching. Then you mix the two clips in your preferred editor or the project tab. 😀
@@360vroomers Nice to know. Otherwise I would have thought the entire thing would need to be one or other ( I guess it ism thus the required clip clone )
What camera? Some cameras have modes that can’t change stitching etc. for example if I use Go 3S video mode (not freeframe mode), you can’t change stitching or stabilization.
Thank you for the video. I imported all X4 files (i had only shot a few short 4K and 5.7 videos) into the insta360 studio after installing it on my laptop. I had two issues: 1.When i played the videos, the video flow was inconsistent doing breaks all the time, so it could not run smoothly. 2. When i tried to export one ,it took 10minutes for the export progress to reach 5% I am using a 5-year old windows 11 laptop which is not bad for today's standards. Not sure what the problem is to be honest. One thing is that i do not have more than 10G free storage on the laptop drive at the moment, but i do not think it has to do with it.
@@epos_rising hi Epos. You’re right to focus on your pc specs. Does your pc have dedicated graphics (gtx 750 equivalent or better)? A dedicated GPU (as opposed to integrated GPU) is much faster and more efficient when working with 360 photos and 360 videos. If your PC has a dedicated GPU but it’s still slow, check the preferences under studio. Try checking both hardware decoder and hardware encoder. Also check the options for hardware acceleration. Finally, make sure your graphics card drivers are updated.
Really good no nonsense explanation there, thanks! . I’ve had studio and my X3 for about six months or so now. I’ve only played around with it a little bit but this past week been really getting into it and your video has helped me with a few bits I missed and didn’t realise I could do in studio. 👍
