We have finally done it, we've seen New Jack City recommended a ton in our last Tuesday video and decided it was time to watch it! Patreon: / octokrool Twitter: / octokrool
Not the biggest fan of how this movie had to be edited, but the copyright issues on it were insane; no idea why but we did our best. If you're not a fan of the editing we had to do then I don't blame you lol, sorry for it being a day late as well!
Man...I hope this gets enough likes, I know it's going to be a good time and get lots of views. Either way, I'm glad i found the channel...so is my ashtray
Before Wesley Snipes played the villain in this film, he was also the villain in Michael Jackson's BAD short film. Check it out. It's at least a 20min short film.
@@RikaRebel Yeah mine too. I wish Keenan had made a sequel. He could still do one now with the Asian guy who said one day they'll see each other again.
Higher Learning. An all star cast. Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, Michael Rappaport, Tyra Banks, Omar Eppes, Laurance Fishburn, Regina King, Morris Chestnut among others!!! John Singleton directed. Movie message is still relevant today!!!
@@DustyAddums OH they was serious about them flakes🤔💯... I thought it was just me.. guess not. Now if them bitchesss was frosted??? I would totally (YESSS its reference to Total Raisin Brand) understand 😅🤣😭..
Seriously do you have any idea how far Ice T goes back. He is one of the originators of gangsta rap. And he is also one of the few rappers that was actually a real gangster and has one the pimp of the year award numerous times.
He gave us 'colors' if that was his only contribution to hip-hop (which it isn't) that one tune would be more than enough for lifelong recognition. More than 30 years later, the tune is as good as ever, and so is the movie.
This movie is a classic Gem its timeless. I recommend Harlem Knights and A Low Down Dirty Shame. You guys rock I love your reaction to classics I grew up watching in the 90s.
It's ironic when you both talk about how, in these movies, the characters who try to get their lives together end up being killed. Then, Curtis said how he starts to get numb to it. It's spot on in the way that people get desensitized to violence when they live around it constantly and experience consistent loss. Anyway, another cool vid y'all.
Yes, they seem cool. Y'all can show appreciation without saying that cringe ass phrase. And if this 'social pass' were actually a thing, I would hope the actions required to get one would be far more demanding than simply watching black movies, or doing black dances, or listening to black music. Smh...
Fun fact: Ice-T said in an interview that this role would later inspire him to want to act in a crime drama as a cop again, hence Law and Order.......sike, I'm just messin. lol
Keisha is the woman from Candyman. That’s the lady who’s baby was taken by Helen. Vanessa Estelle Williams…this has so many memorable quotes. “I was prom Queen of KING HIGH SCHOOL!!! This is beneath me!” The words of a crackhead! 😩😩😩 y’all should check out King of New York. Laurence Fishburne is in that too.
“His corn flakes!!” 😂😂😂😂 Edit: Now that you’ve watched this, you have to see the clip from Martin when he did the bit with the dog “Martin, New Jack City”. It was hilarious!
Fun Fact: The Carter apartment complex was based on a real place in Detroit where a drug kingpin bought a apartment complex and sold crack out of random units so the cops needed to get so many warrants to search it made it untouchable.
Since ya'll seen Menace to society, ya'll should do "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood"...It's like a parody of menace to society and others, and is a classic comedy! Edit: I'd rather ya'll watch Higher Learning, Dead Presidents and South Central first to get the references.
AT LEAST SOUTH CENTRAL... But I get it... Those movies, unfortunately, are disturbingly true... We all know one of those characters... And they don't. So to ask someone to relive traumatic events and don't have to is insanity 🙃... So yeah we can try to lighten it up.. but still may have some violence, drugs, sex,and most things LWB associated 🤣😭🤣😭🤣💯🥳
Interesting fact: Akosua Busia, who is in the audience of the courthouse when Nino is on trial, AKA Nettie from the movie “The Color Purple” (Ceily’s sister) was also John Singleton’s wife 😉 and til this day I quote Nino all the time when he says “SIT yo five dolla ass down before I make change!” 😂😂😂😂
I haven't watched this movie in a minute, but I remember so vividly that scene when everyone's just shuffling around in the courtyard like zombies. So heartbreaking.
It is heartbreaking I watched my family go through it and then I became a heroin addict myself and turned into one of those and after 7 years I ended up looking like one of them zombies from The walking Dead 2 years of struggling to get clean and I finally kicked it
You guys should watch Demolition Man (1993), Wesley Snipes action/sci-fi with great humor. Really fun movie that also stars Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock.
Fun fact: the role Chris rock played was originally meant for Martin Lawrence but his mentor (comedian Robin Harris) passed away so Martin opt out of the movie
I haven't seen anybody suggesting the movie "Colors" but it's a great movie from 1988 with Robert Duvall, a young Sean Penn, Damon Wayans, and a very young Don Cheadle. Cops vs the gangs of LA. type of crime story
You know what’s crazy? Martin Lawrence was supposed to play the part of pookie. They said Chris rock audition sucked and Martin killed it. But after Robin Harris died Martin turned down the roll and they gave it to Chris Rock.
I am just glad you watched it! I know the millennials like to throw the word iconic around to everything, but as a Generation X person, I'm telling you this movie is truly ICONIC and made Superstars out of the people in this movie.
Chris Rock broke my heart in this movie. You guys should check out DEMOLITION MAN if you haven't already. As an overall movie, okay, but Wesley Snipes is priceless. One of the greatest villains ever imo.
