This was, this is and this will be one really unforgotten sequel for episode VI. I don't know how but everytime I will want to return Legends to Canon like are in books of New Jedi order series and I hope, that I one time read this series. Congratulations from Slovakia!
I can't stop watching this video. I love this series and, in my book, is the third act of a three act saga. The rise of Darth Vader, the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, and the story of his grandchildren. The Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, and the Yuuzhan Vong War. The NJO is probably my second favorite Star Wars story of all time, behind the original trilogy.
Absolutely Agreed, this is best tribute to NJO I’ve seen, I’m thinking about rereading it sometime soon. Probably My favorite story in all of Star Wars.
Imagine, in another universe, where we had gotten the New Republic Era, animated in the same style as The Clone Wars. Would have been epic beyond words. Screw You Disney for Shafting Star Wars Like That.
To be fair, I think that overall, this series along with Legacy of the Force is just not as good as some other SW stuff (I mostly prefer standalones and trilogies). The only NJO books that I actually found to be really good were Traitor by Matthew Stover (which was REALLY good though), Conquest by Greg Keyes and The Final Prophecy by Greg Keyes. The rest weren't exactly bad, but bunch of them was pretty forgettable (Force Heretic trilogy, Jedi Eclipse, Balance Point, in my opinion). If they would actually make Force Awakens much better, I would possibly not really have problem with retconning post Return of the Jedi EU, but well, Force Awakens really sucks...
Jakub LotF was fucking awful, at least the NJO took a bunch of the old Bantam era characters, planets, etc. and merged them together to create one cohesive feeling universe. It also builds on established characterization to do new things with old characters instead of pointlessly killing them off to rehash the prequels. Say what you want about Anakin and Chewbacca's deaths but at least they meant something and fueled characterization for other characters that desperately needed it after years of Bantam era stagnation. And while the execution was sometimes lacking in their use, I preferred the Yuuzhan Vong as new villains, they had more effort put into creating them and fleshing them out over more separatist and sith villains that became a dime a dozen long before they showed up again in LotF. I would say there are a few other really good books in the NJO series, like Vector Prime, Star by Star, the Rebel Stand/Dream duology and Destiny's Way, plus the previously mentioned Conquest, Final Prophecy and Traitor. For the most part, the worst the books ever got was mediocre and boring with the Agents of Chaos pair, Balance Point, and Force Heretic trilogy, but the rest seemed at the very least decent to good. Considering the series lasted 19 books, that says a lot, compared to the down right lousy LotF 9-part series, where I'd say maybe 3 of the books were actually good.
Oh yeah, I definitely agree that LotF was much worse, it was like a bad version of SW meets Game of Thrones (and I am not even really a big fan of GoT, so it definitely wasn't for me) I think that the overall NJO storyline was good, one of the most unique in SW universe and very refreshing, but I guess my biggest problem is that it just felt so lengthy, they could have easily done it with like 9 books and the result would be very similar I think. So many books felt like filler (previously mentioned Agents of Chaos duology, Balance Point, Dark Journey, Force Heretic Trilogy) When it comes to the deaths, I don't really think that they are that big of a problem. Chewie's death was imo done fairly well (especially compared to Han's death in TFA - that was just terrible). As for Anakin, I disagreed with killing him off from the beginning, because I generally think that the next generation characters should've had slowly started taking over the show, not being killed off. If we talk about the actual death scene in Star by Star, I think it was well done though. As for LotF, I seriously have no idea what the hell were the creators smoking, the characters don't really add up to what we know about them from NJO and the main story is, as you say, nothing more than prequel rehash. I especially hate Vergere being proclaimed to be a Sith lord and Jacen just turning from one of the most complex SW characters, period, into a generic mustache-twirling villain, who loses at the end of almost every single book... I also really dislike Karen Traviss's Mando fetish, she basically turned Mandalorians from this badass warrior culture, we know from KOTOR games (but with some flaws, which made them interesting) into a total and absolutely unrelatable Mary Sues, who are simply perfect at every single thing - fighting, technology, family life, tolerance, wisdom and morals Especially the ending of Revelation was disgusting, when Jacen got totally destroyed by a bunch of Mando mercs like nothing (a person who was said to have been more powerful than Darth Vader at his peak)
Considering he thought about making an episode with the Vong in the clone wars, maybe he will do it in the future. Heck, maybe one of the season 7 episodes will be one. (Very wishful thinking on my part though)
@@magnenoalex2 thats exactly why they could do it. Its a story of literally teenagers growing into young adults through the most brutal and war in the galaxies history. But I can see that since we will have to see jedi and new republic soldiers killing flesh and blood beings and the vong being a death worshiping masochist genocidal race that love torture and the killing in the boat brutal way possible so it could be a long stretch but I'd respect the hell out of them if they did
This... This should have been the sequel trilogy. Yeah, it was 19 books but maybe make the first movie about the first year of the war, the second movie be about the second to last year of the war with ending with the Galactic Alliance being formed, and the third movie being about the final year of the war.
I don't think the audio was removed...at least it's still there for me even when I'm not signed in. You may just be confused by the first 20 seconds or so when the song starts out so softly it sounds almost quiet.
Unless she dies brutally, finally redeeming herself, it won’t be “good”. Rey must be torn to shreds and have an actual Jedi from a forgotten bloodline inherent the mantle. She must be erased from galactic history while this true Jedi is made immortal. Only after Rey is humiliated by her own inferiority will Star Wars be allowed to flourish. 🗿
