What is this fellow saying? There is a very noticeable lag in the Compass gearshifts even much more than most other vehicles. That is just how the 9 speed ZF works in the Compass. I am an owner of the 4X4 Models S. He only is trying to push the product, typical salesman with long tongue.

Brother, ZF transmission is used in range rover. There is some lag in compass, I agree but after 3rd gear the shifts are not even perceivable and overall riding pleasure is maintained at high speed. I’ve driven model s 4x4 89k now. Loving it and I must say that ZF transmission is most reliable torque converter in the market now.

@@susimmukulray If you look at the Compass in isolation it is not bad. But other automatics from other manufacturers shift sightly quicker than Compass. But I also own a X1 20d which is quick. And I mean real quick. Shifts up are smooth, kickdown is instantaneous, power delivery is strong and hard. Compass feels a bit soft in comparison. Jeep salesmen tend to compare Compass with BMW X1 but the truth is Compass is nowhere near the X1 in terms of performance.
