A plan to expand a portion of the New Jersey Turnpike is getting pushback from the community. CBS New York's Alecia Reid was at a meeting that got tense Tuesday night.
Transit in Jersey city is beyond a joke, it was all ripped up in the 60s/70s, Needs both the highway expansion and excellent transit into JC from points west.
@durece100 He's not acting like Robert Moses. The fact is that transit in public transit in Jersey City is terrible, so naturally, people will use their cars as it is a better and quicker alternative to get around. It is not difficult to understand that.
@@Atrail_Mckinley4786 I Worked in JC for almost 10 years. It needs to be all of the above, not just a road, not just public transit. When NJT is running properly into NYC Manhattan is far easier to reach via public transit than JC is! Want JC to really thrive? It needs to be all of the above.
@@Atrail_Mckinley4786 Don't lie. Driving cars makes you depressed and bored and isn't a quick alternative when you get stuck in traffic during rush hours. Trains are better, cars suck and smelly inside.
We’d be less dependent on vehicular traffic if our public transit infrastructure were expanded and dependable. 10m would go a long way towards improvements when they keep saying public transit is in the red.
Clean air…in NJ? Good luck with that unless they stop relying on their cars, and good luck with THAT until they improve their transit infrastructure and increase its reach.
So missed the whole point of their protest? We want better transit infrastructure so we would be less reliant on vehicular traffic. And the air is vastly better our side of the river than nyc so iduno where you’re getting off our air is horrible?
@HaveyoumetKen That transit infrastructure isn't there yet, though. Also not everyone can take public transit. The bridges do need to be replaced since they won't last very long
We own cars and we still don’t want the expansion. Our transit infrastructure sucks that’s why we have cars but I’d gladly not drive if I don’t have to.
