@@swhipple I think he means he’s relived that he’s sticking to guitar rather than bringing his synths, drum machines, etc to the studio with his guitar, since like John said he wants to keep that stuff separate for himself which I respect

​@@etotigasad9996 a part of me kind of wondered this honestly. hes a musician who truly doesnt care about money (or fame) but had amassed a ton of it by being in rhcp. im sure with the amount of money he'd made by the time he quit in 2008, he'd figured he could just retire and live out his days in his hollywood hills home (honestly a pretty modest home for a rockstar) and just focus on making his solo music without worrying on it being profitable enough to survive off of. Ufourtunately, I think his divorce was quite a financial blow (pretty insane that you have to fork over millions of dollars to someone for divorcing eh?) and with no major income, I think his well was running dry. It sucks to think about john returning purely for financial reasons, when its so antithetical to his whole being and outlook on life, but i think it was a neccesity--- i mean, so long as he wanted to continue living in LA and making the music he wanted to make -- he probably wouldnt want to downsize to s ome apartment and sacrifice his lifestlye, which is totally fair. Its not like he lived in a mega mansion with yaughts and champagne popping lol. But anyway, I noticed too, that on the howard stern interview, he was the one who wanted to answer the question about rhcp selling their catalog of music, which was a big payout for the band. He seemed to be the most familiar with it, and prob was instrumental in getting that deal done so he could really rake in alot of money lump sum (as opposed to the sort of slow trickle hes gotten over the years from various royalties etc).

Same! He truly is an idol of mine for battling his demons. I dont know how to play the guitar but I know how he truly has a connection with it when he plays.

Its because of his dentures due to drug and alcohol abuse, he never used to sound like that when he still had teeth. You can hear he has a very slight lisp now and the timbre of his voice is slightly different.

Lol, the one person who appreciates the interviewer. But seriously, I agree. Some interviewers straight up suck at making their guests feel comfortable talking about themselves. This guy does a good job, indeed.

It would be really exciting to see this. You know... right now it's like he's going to a process, very similar to what happened in Californication. Californication is a very simple album in a guitar point of view or somethign like that, he was very minimal and not going hard on effects and stuff because he was reapproching the instrument. After that, we see that in BTW and especially in SA, he uses a lot of effects, start with the moog pedals, crazy overdubs, tries different guitars,etc. From my point of view, as a chili's listener and JF fan, he is going through this process again and we can expect something more "simple" than SA, but as long as he keeps going again with the band, he probably will try new stuff. And maybe the Yamaha :) sorry for the big text and my english mistakes.
