Excellent video, too much fun, I spent the whole time watching the boards being painted but I could hear someone talking in the background.

That’s some excellent editing! Love getting your commentary while also the “boring” but very necessary painting gets done in the back ground. So much better than just having a pop box overlay.

That is not the usual production you see in a model railroad video. That was outstanding. Several times I got distracted watching you paint and had to go back to hear what you had just said. I really like the direction the new New Junction will be going. Great plan and great work. Cheers - Larry.

Hi Richard. Super exciting stuff. My thought is, if the layout goes to exhibitions via the garage door, then you'll be having to move the river-end units every time. But if you were to rotate the layout 180 degrees, and have the tunnel end by the garage door, then you can load up the tunnel end and the two main straights, and never have to move the river end at all. Please ignore this if I've got the layout upside down from what you're planning. Cheers, Kev.

Most "Track plan" videos can be quite dull, with not much to see. With a little (Probably lots of) out of the box thinking, and a bit of jiggery pokery, you have provided us with a very entertaining video. Clearly lots of effort went into it, and the results speak for themselves. Top Job!

Hi Richard well it does sound exciting can't wait to see it all come to life , the only thing im not sure about is it means your going to have to move that end bit near the garage door before you can get out and if its raining that will be needed to be covered up while its outside whem moving the exibition sections it really needs to be moved round 180 degres , otherwise looks good . b t w you really need to have a word with your brother it took him 20 mins to paint that end of the layout lol a bit slow with the tea as well :) that should be firt thing going lol , anyway joking aside good luck sounds great and i look forward to next video A T B Syd

If you’re using that paint to seal the plywood from humidity and temperature swings in the garage, you’re going to want to seal the top, bottom, and all sides of the wood parts.

That exhibition and garage mode seperation is an excellent idea

First, always love these videos, would love to know your honest thoughts about prices in the hobby recently. As it’s hard for a young person like myself to get into the hobby now as the prices have increased and it’s stopping the hobby grow I feel.

Two Richards! Oh no!!! I AM ancient, but I feel even older when I realise my "new" layout is based on a Peco track plan from the 1960s (possibly earlier) and not some computer generated thing. I always admire exhibition layouts as it's hard enough to build a layout, but even harder to make it moveable AND work when you get there! This, to me, seems to be a stage further - it's got to work in two modes. Just as well your twin is on hand to help out. Cheers

Looking forward to seeing this layout evolve. Just curious why the end section that will not be used in exhibition mode is next to the garage door. wouldn’t it make sense to be on the back wall and then you never have to move it.

Thanks for the video and thanks for sharing the AnyRail file. It's nice to see someone using the Layers function to allow different types of layout elements to be shown. Also, thanks for the pointer regarding being able to move the layout. I am at the advanced planning stage for my own Z gauge project, but will be reworking my baseboard segmentation and framing underneath to ensure that I can move the layout in four separate pieces if we ever need to move house. I shall follow this project with interest. Subscribed. :)

Brilliant video as ever Richard, I'm really liking the look of the track plan as well, like the sweeping nature of the mainline to. A loop or two on the mainline would certainly look good with that sweeping look to it to. Really like the look of the scenics and heritage line to. I'm intrigued to see how you do the two levels with the mainline passing over the heritage line. Keep up the excellent work as ever Cheers James

Great video! Watching form the U.S., I am looking forward to seeing your progress on this new layout. Always interesting to see how you address different modeling challenges as your layout evolves.

With the trackplan, if i was doing it: -I would have a small unstaffed station for two or four car DMU trains on the main line -I would not use a double slip on the heritage line goods shed - these are a reliability nightmare -I would keep the heritage line DC-friendly But I'm not doing it, so keep up the good work (Rule 1 - your railway - your decisions)

Bear in mind, if you do go for super-elevation, aka, banking in the curves, the greatest figure that the high rail is raised is 150 mm on Network Rail infrastructure. This equates to a smidge under 2 mm in 00 scale, so its not a lot!! I'm also thinking of using it on my own new layout. Good luck in the build, Ill be keeping an eye on developments!!👍

Loved the video Richard! You have certainly got the animation covered for the layout! re the wiring, I would isolate your tracks as you build to make the blocks but just wire them into choc blocks, then onto your main bus so when you go down the automation the track is ready to wire straight into the detectors if your using current sensing! one idea for the heritage line on board 5 at the end of the platform you could have a camping coach which would also add a bit more scenic interest. No doubt I'll see you at Glasgow, whereby you may get more inspiration and a lighter wallet 🤣🤣. All the best Tony

Great video, both the layout stuff and the editing. Really looking forwards to see this develop.

You could have a shorter station on the mainline, something built recently to replace a closed platform from the heritage line station that would have closed in the 60s and reopened in the last few years and thus would only be built for a shorter DMU with minimal buildings, that would allow you to have a station without it being so dominant as to overwhelm the scene
