Thank you for saving this terrific video and slice of the amazing music of the '90''s! I am the actress in the video, and this was shot by the incredible Matthew Ralston, with whom I worked on many commercials and projects at the time (including the "Later Gator" Lubriderm ad with the giant alligator ;). Jorden was a total gentleman, and the whole band were pros. This video still holds a sweet spot in my heart all these years later. So glad I got to be a part of the fantastic music scene in the 1990's, on VH1 and beyond. 💜
I scrolled through the comments to see is someone knew who the girl was because back when the video came out I thought you were breathtaking and being a teenager I wanted to be like you, even got similar clothes to yours in the video!🤣 Nice to meet you!🙂
@@GabrielaZapataMusic Goddess! Thank you, aww you made my day 🙏🏽 I loved that coat! but....i still have those amazing Doc Martens ;) Keep being the gorgeous you!
Hey! You’re the amazing person behind all the awesome 90s commercials!!! I’m trying to get into some commercials and was wondering if you know of any agents that I can audition for? I’m based in Southern Illinois & am currently a sophomore at SIUC studying Musical Theater trying to build my actors resume & portfolio 💼
My favorite NKOTB album. Face the Music. Damn Jordan was fine as hell in this video. The cesear cut and facial hair was working for him. ❤ They were grown men on this album
If this album would have came around 1998 and now it would have been a hit. People didn't want them to change that was why people stopped listening to them. I have loved them from the beginning until now. Block head for life.
MsBabygirl77 yea I think she knows that, she said IF it was released later on the decade it would of been more of a hit meaning meaning taking a break after the remix album and coming back with face the music in 1998 or 1999
@@aji722 They never did a lip sing though, never, and it wasn't their management, it was a man that worked on their music who falsely accused them and then also said that their work wasn't their own. He wasn't on their management team, he was someone who worked with the music aspect of it but New Kids have always credited everybody.
I just wasn't that interested in them anymore. As much as I liked them they were pretty much over by the time 1994 came around. Because Jonathan had left the group earlier due to his anxiety and stage fright.
Face The Music is the best New Kids On The Block album, even better than their new music. Sorry for the people who never gave it the value the album deserves.
@@jedsteelwell2354 in fact it was, but I’m talking about quality, better voices, better arrangements. with the release of this album, the problems between them were released started too. Jonathan had healthy problems about his panic attacks and he felt that this album was so “new and different” of the kind of music they used to do. He left the band and they put the group in pause until 2008 when they came back with the release of the album “The Block”
This song is so good... too bad by the time this song came out the backlash was too strong for that album to succeed... I like to see them do something like this again...
+Dasha Jean yep. the younger fans that they had gained just didnt want to grow up with them. So alot of them cut them loose by this time unfortunately, as they moved on to other music. Now look, all of them are coming back! lol. Glad NKOTB arent holding any grudges.
The kids that love them when they first came out were in their teens and pre-teens grew up to be Generation X and New Kids on the Block were replaced by grunge music. They just weren't cool anymore .
Dedicate, Dedicate! I remember when I was little, I thought this was Al B. Sure and LL Cool J until I got older and I thought it said Daddy Cake, Daddy Cake the whole time. LMAO!!
Lmfao at Daddy Cake. Yeah it does have ab Al B. Sure type vibe with how he's singing. He doesn't really sound like LL though. Donnie W doesn't sound bad at all but LL's flow is a lot smoother because he kind of the king of it over a smooth beat.
Since I was 8 years old I was a Joe fan. This song-video and meeting Donnie in person in 1996, when I was 18, solidified my new-found Donnie crush. I even named my only child after Donnie in 2003. My son is now 15 and when people ask about his name, he loves to tell people how he is named after Donnie Wahlberg. I took my son to his first NKOTB concert when he was 5. Sometimes, memories are legacies.
I started to read this comment and realized it was mine from 4 years ago. LOL Donnie is still the man, even though I'm a lesbian and I have a Wife, Donnie could still get it.
I remember back in 1998 at The 50 Yard Line in Chicago this song came on and I thought, "What? These punk ass Kids?" Man, was I ever wrong! The club dancers hit the floor and graced this song with their beautiful steps and I was in awe. This is a stone jam Steppers cut for sure! If we doing it up in a Chicago Stepper's Club, then it's the real thing!!
Jordan Knight sings pretty well. I still listen to the NKOTB. Even when I was younger woman I was listening to. I used to listen to the NKOTB in the 1990s.
This was New Kids on the Block last album before they broke up and reunited in 2008. This is from the album: Face the Music when they changed their name to the abbreviated form NKOTB. I guess, you just had to be there. When they made this album they were already losing popularity so when this album was released they were already long out of their hey day and way past their peak of their success. They had already become a past time two years before this album came out. This was their only new album after the notorious best selling and extremely popular Step by Step.
@@ilovenoodles7483 yes because they toured throughout 91-92 and had no time to record a new album, which is likely what prompted The tour Souvenir collection for one thing in Australia.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was written for Michael but didn't make the cut and passed on nkotb, Teddy would of been working on mike's album around that time too.
@@onacanilao I wish it would! We need something to do some DANCIN'!!! The dance moves of today have made people lazy! 🤣🤣🤣 Back then, you had to be shape!! The Running Man, the Roger Rabbit, the Whop, the Tootsie Roll, etc... had you doing a cardio workout! 💃💃💃 🥵🥵🥵🤣🤣🤣
This is how they always wanted to be. Don’t know why nobody wanted them to change. By 1993 they were all grown lmao Joe being the youngest he was 21 going on 22 by ‘94 like do you expect them to sing pop forever & this was Joey’s prime for vocals 🤦🏾♂️(even though he can still blow today!). Their best album was a flop that’s crazy i feel so bad,,
The issue wasn't them growing up or change (they honestly should have done it a bit earlier, and it was why "Step By Step" wasn't the strongest era). It was how it was done, and the execution of it. 1. They went for a more grunge, tough guy image. Usually it was Donnie and Danny (slightly) who had those images, but for all of them to have that same image alienated people (no one was buying Jordan, Joey, and Jonathan being "tough guys", and they haven't looked back since the era ended). It came off as a bit too performative. Even their demeanor during the era (they seemed miserable, cold, and unapproachable) wasn't like what caused people to like them in the first place. In order to properly grow, you are supposed to keep the elements that made people like you, but grow up and add more mature elements to it. They started focusing more and more about the negativity and backlash, which did them no favors. 2. Way too much time passed between albums. Their last album came out in 1990 (it didn't last as long as it should have due to poor single choices, and the sound was becoming out of date by the time of 1991). The remix came in, and was supposed to save the latter half of "Step by Step", but it made things worse for some of the reasons listed above. "If You Go Away" (which came out 2 years later) was a comeback song, but they didn't utilize it to keep the momentum and interest of the general public and their fans. By the time "Face The Music" came out 2 years after the single (4 years after "Step By Step"), everyone moved on from them. They disappeared, and didn't do anything else (as a group or even as individuals) to keep interest. 3. Poor single choices. All of that other stuff wouldn't have mattered as much if they chose better singles. "Dirty Dawg" was NOT the way to show maturity, gain general public interest, and to regain their dwindling fanbase (they didn't learn from making "Games" the lead off their remix LP). As many stated, it comes off as misogynistic, tryhard, and lame. Even their counterpart New Edition went with the safer, less alienating singles to ease into the growth. Other groups at the time like Boyz II Men, and even Jodeci (known for being nasty) chose singles that made women want them, and softer songs for their lead singles at the time. "Never Let You Go" got buried because of people being turned off by "Dirty Dawg", and the album would have done better had it been the lead instead (or one of the other ballads). Even "Girls" would have been a better lead.
This album came out after unprecedented overexposure. I was alive back then and I've seen an artist permeate music the way this one did. When "Step by Step" came out, the CHR station in my area played this song the entire day. Literally no other song was played that day on that station except "Step by Step." They were also merchandised to death. They had marbles with their faces in them. There were t-shirts, pillows, hair scrunchies, curtains, bed sheets and spreads - anything you can imagine had their faces on it. Worst of all was the choice of first single. "Dirty Dawg" is fine to be on the record, I guess, but as a first single to introduce the album to the little girls who loved them? Gigantic mistake. The overexposure coupled with the far too radical change in style pretty much sealed the fate of this album. Shame, too. It's not a bad record at all. Parts of it try too hard but this is an example of when it worked.
Jordan if you reading this I'm 42 years of age and I love yhis dong and video it also btings a tear to my eyes a little bit i love you Jordan 💕😘 always and forever Jordan 💋💋💋💕💕💕
This song always felt like a Blackstreet song to me with a mix of some Michael Jackson to it; I'm reminded of "Joy" and "Tonight's the Night" specifically. Looking through the production credits today, there it is plain for anyone to see: Teddy Riley contributed to this. Love Jordan's falsetto on this track.
Man all i have to say is that i missed SO much!! I grew up with these guys and this video escaped me. Jordan has ALWAYS been my favorite and now they have teamed up with BSB Jordan is happily back in my life. And this video is extreme never expected this from Jordan but i am insanely jealous of her lol and he LICKED her stomach! Wow that was a screen grab i HAD to get.
