I wore this VHS out! I was obsessed with NKOTB in Kindergarten and first grade. Joey has always been my favorite. I remember collecting the trading cars and wanting so badly to see them in concert in 89/90. Thanks so much for uploading this!
Took me back! I had this on VHS and Hanging Tough Live 😊. I'd watch them back to back, I still have them memorized at 41 like I did at 10😂. Still know when Joe burps, I'd rewind it over and over lol.
There was a brief period of time when New Kids on the Block were the most popular entertainment act in the world. Hangin’ Tough ==> Merry, Merry Christmas ==> Step By Step (as a single) … it was the height of superstardom. It was impossible to sustain, especially as the musical landscape was changing. But it was a lot of fun, and my 4th grade female classmates were absolutely enthralled by this group. Fast forward to now: their fans are in their 40s and nostalgia has them loving what they meant to them when they were kids. And decent seats at their upcoming tour are stupid expensive just like every concert these days. But, good for them. There was a time when they felt like nobody would ever pay to watch them perform again.
Yep! And thank you for your comment. I was in fourth grade as well at the peak of their stardom. Did you happen to be in Southern Arizona at the time? I'm looking for my 4th and 5th grade friends from that time. We had a blast! We even did a class talent show to one of their songs! I did stop liking them after their No More Games album, but now, I'm o.k. with them. Lol.
Me too! I remember watching this for the first time when I visited one of my American friends during the summer of ‘91 and she played us this to update us on the newest hottest American sensation 🥳
Thank you for sharing! There are some posts with the same content as that video, but I've never seen such a high quality video on RU-vid.Please don't delete that!
I loved and appreciated NKOTB as a child growing up. The beautiful part about watching this and listening to “Step by step” as an adult, is that the instrumental is very similar to the Captain Planet theme song. Captain Planet came out in 89 and this was also circa the time NKOTB were really popping. Much love and continued success to those guys man. Definitely used to have a shirt with them on it. One love to NKOTB. 💯 🤝
Thank you SO much for uploading this and the Hangin’ Tough LIVE vhs videos! I have them both on vhs still but no VCR. Couldn’t watch for yrs! THANK YOU!!!!

Seeing this video is everything to me because I loved them so much during this time. This was the peak. I'm so glad I got to see them at this peak in Germany 🇩🇪 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. One of my best childhood memories outside of Seeing MJ🙏🏽. I wore this out when my mom got it for Christmas 🤶🏽
I'm 50 years old and have been and always will be a "Blockhead"!. I've seen them 10 times in concert. I still have all of my memorabilia items. Shirts, books, cassettes, magazines and more. They're coming to Cleveland, Ohio this summer. I would love to see them again but I don't drive. I'm thinking about getting a tattoo with their full names and I'll be loving you forever in quotes because I will be loving them for the rest of my life.
@@soyabean-of9wz- because their name is New Kids on the *Block* and their fans are the craziest, loudest and best fans ever! So... "block heads" is the just the name of that was given to New Kids on the Block fans. It was given to the fans back in the '80's.
If Michael Jackson was still alive in 2009, just imagine him making a surprise appearance in a NKOTB show when they sang Step By Step. It would have been a great collaboration and opportunity for him to meet the New Kids. During his last days, he was rehearsing for his This Is It tour in the same location they were practicing and they were planning on meeting him.
I’ll never forget in first grade a young girl brought this tape in and all the kindergarten and first grade classes were forced to watch this abomination in the hallway. What would possess those teachers to think this was worthy of stopping everyone’s day to call an assembly for this boy band tape? It’s infuriating to think about decades later.
In hindsight , it's kind of weird to think about how six months later , they pretty much came crashing down. In the spring of 1990, they were beyond popular, its crazy to think this album only sold 3 million in the states.
